Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

2nd Floor Apartment, 4 Bedrooms, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 8) 2nd and 3rd floors

The beautifully appointed apartment is 2 floors of a Historic Scotland building from the 1860’s, across the road from where Prince William and Kate Middleton lived while studying at the historic university and along the road from where both Tom Watson and Peter Thomson have lived.

The apartment is a second floor flat which has recently been completely renovated to the highest standards combining history and comfort. All the 4 bedrooms have their own shower or bathrooms en-suite for your privacy. The flat is so spacious that as well as 2 public rooms there is a large drying area for golf clubs and apparel up on the internal second floor. Not suitable accommodation for the elderly/ infirm unless fit and able.

St Andrews is world famous as the home of golf, and there are more 1st class courses within 30 minutes drive than you could play on in a lifetime of holidays, but within 45 minutes there are 2 other Open Championship courses – Carnoustie and Muirfield and of course Gleneagles which will host the Ryder Cup in 2014.

However St Andrews is more than golf, being the 3rd oldest university in the English-speaking world (after Oxford and Cambridge) celebrating its 600th Anniversary in 2013, and has historic monuments and relics, historical living buildings including the remains of the Cathedral demolished by Knox, beaches, walks and much more to see, all within walking distance. It is perfectly possible to spend your whole holiday, visiting the shops, museums restaurants and pubs without getting into a taxi or car once, except for the out of town golf courses. Almost everywhere is within 5 minutes walk, and even the harbour at the other end of town is only 10 minutes walk away.

Your holiday does not necessarily need be focused on golf and parents of university student, vacationers who want to breathe history and partners of golfers can all have a memorable holiday in St Andrews and the environs.

About Carolyn Dajani

My family are from St Andrews and although my Father lived overseas for 35 years he learnt golf and humility in St Andrews and it very much became part of his life, one that I hope you can share when you visit.

Carolyn Dajani purchased this apartment in 2011

Why Carolyn Dajani chose Saint Andrews

Being from St Andrews and without a home of our own to stay in, my Father decided to buy this home for our family visits, but to make it available to anyone who loves or wants to learn to love St Andrews.

What makes this apartment unique

You step into history and can walk to history. Down the road past Auchterlonies, then the R&A is the first tee of the most famous golf course in the world. After only a few minutes you will feel that you belong as you are indeed staying in our home, not a 'property to let', with neighbors.

You will want to call home to your friends and family and can do so for free - take your time to share your experiences in St Andrews.

great visit

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is located on the 3rd floor of a flat(the only draw back ) which makes it best for adults who can climb the stairs. Once in, it is a lovely apartment. Worked well for 4 couples here to visit and play some golf. The kitchen, though small, was very efficient. Nice dining/living room for gathering. Very convenient to St. Andrews course, shopping and dining in town. Lisa was great and accommodating our earlier arrival. Would highly recommend.

Absolutely beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

Easy access to everything, golf course, town, bus station all within walking distance. The home was very comfortable. Big rooms with comfortable beds

I would caution the elderly. There are over 50 steps up to the actual flat. Was very difficult for two of our party who had difficulty with walking to begin with. Once inside it was very spacious and has a built-in plumbed coffee machine of which I want one!. Well designed kitchen.

This gorgeous apartment in the heart of St. Andrews was just perfect for our family.

We stayed at Howard Place for my niece's graduation for a week. My 85 year old mom, husband, sisters and daughter loved the luxurious accommodations which included a state of the art small kitchen. St. Andrews is centrally located for multiple day trips to a vast array of nearby attractions in Scotland. St. Andrews itself is a wonderful playground for young and old. Thanks so much to Carolyn and Lisa for your immediate replies to all questions and requests. We highly recommend this property without reservation.
