About Suki Stobbs
I live on site with my family in The Farmhouse. I was born and brought up in Scotland. Property is my business and these holiday rentals are part of that business. I work from home so am delighted to bump into guests and have a chat! Feel free to ask about things to see and do in the area or further afield. You will spot me walking the dogs! Tim my husband is also around and can deal with any queries.
Suki Stobbs purchased this Cottage in 1995
Why Suki Stobbs chose Perth
We moved to this location from Fife. We wanted great views and country location. In fact the location is a winner for most people who come here - we are perfectly set up for the fabulous wedding venues in the area - especially Guardswell which is next door. Some guests want proximity to Dundee, others want easy access to Edinburgh and others want to be able to get to St. Andrews and all of the golf courses over in Fife or here in Perthshire or Angus. We took a few years to convert an old farm steading into the holiday cottages called Pitmiddle and Outfield. We are delighted with the result and opened for business way back in 2005, can't believe it is that long ago. Honeysuckle always existed as a little bothy so we decorated it in the same colours and promoted it from a long term rental to a holiday let. We have tried to cover every eventuality offering a 1 bedroom cottage, 2 bedroom cottage, 3 bedroom cottage or the 2 joined together to give a 5 bedroom cottage.
What makes this Cottage unique
We have evolved into a wellness retreat with wood fired hot tubs and a woodfired sauna along with our wellness gym. There are plenty of cycle routes and walks from your front door. As you walk around up here you have the most fantastic views towards Abernyte village, The River Tay and King's Seat. You feel on top of the world - almost alpine (especially in the snow!). All guests can use the summer house above the tennis court and take in the rolling countryside around us. We are however only 20 minutes by car to either Dundee or Perth city centres. We now have the V&A museum in Dundee city centre - 20/25 minutes away We are 'quite green' - you will spot our new wind turbine which we hope will cover our electricity costs - it's only a little one but we have high hopes! All properties have reclaimed wooden flooring and use a soak away drainage system. We also have our own private water supply with its water treatment room where the water is constantly filtered and backwashed daily. Pitmiddle and Outfield also benefit from underfloor heating powered by the ground source heat pump in Outfield. We hope too you will enjoy the animals round about. We had our own alpacas and hens but now we just have a few pet sheep and in the summer our neighbouring farmer puts some of his sheep in 1 of our fields and in winter we get Shetland ponies. We do also provide satellite wifi for our guests which is now something I believe people come to expect. Help yourselves to logs, they all come from here.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Rural but convenient to highway and close to Dundee. Great area to hike in. Cottage was clean and comfortable.
Lovely to meet you both on your Scottish travels, thank you for reviewing.
Beautiful property, scenery in and around was amazing!
Loved this cottage in the countryside, beautiful views all around! Cottage was very comfortable, with everything we needed there.
Delighted that you were able to appreciate your surroundings inside and out. We are very much trying to be a 'wellness' retreat where guests can slow down, walk in the countryside and relax in our wood fired sauna - or play a bit of tennis or grab a book from the library.
The pictures were exactly what we were hoping to experience when we arrived, it was actually better
The communications leading up to our stay was very helpful. Many questions were answered and assistance was provided. We were met when we arrived by the owners to ensure we were aware of how to use the appliances and amenities. The set up worked perfectly for our two families. If you are looking for a place to stay in the country, plenty of space and easy to access other towns I would highly recommend Oh and another plus there was a pizza delivery service
We had great fun meeting your group and are delighted that the location worked out well for you with all the different venues you had to go to being within range. The pizza/curry/burger delivery service continues to be very popular out here and we had a great curry from them the other night! I hope you are happy that all your organisation paid off.
Fantastic Return Visit
This was our second stay in Suki's lovely Pitmiddle Cottage. It's located just a short distance from the main road, and less than a 15 minute drive into Dundee where you have some lovely restaurants and a very easy in and out ASDA for your grocery needs. The cottage does interconnect with Outfield, but the layout with the bedrooms on opposite ends, ensure a quiet night no matter what time your neighbors might retire. Thick curtains in the bedroom also help get a good nights sleep. Very comfortable accommodations, and is fitted out for almost any need you have in the kitchen. A very detailed notebook gives you the ins and outs of the cottage (how to operate stove, wifi code, etc) and suggests lots of things to do in the area. The games room is great for a quick round of pool, ping pong or darts in the evening. If you're wanting a base in the "Heart of Scotland" you can not go wrong staying at any of Suki's cottage on Outfield Farm. We look forward to a return visit in the future.
Many thanks for returning - sad not to bump into you but you were so busy! Really appreciate your comprehensive review of Pitmiddle.
Great cottage in lovely area.
The cottage is lovely and provides everything you need for your holiday. We did some lovely walks (up the hill) and a bit of cycling around the cottage. Tennis court is great too. The only suggestion I would give is that the games room could do with a bit of an update. We were lucky with the weather, so visited some nice places. Would definitely recommend.
Many thanks for reviewing and as I said your locally caught trout was delicious and most appreciated.
Great house, location and stay
All of the above although floor boards and doors (loudly squeaking) could do with some attention. Otherwise, really enjoyed our stay.
Thanks for taking time to submit a review and will investigate the squeaky wood.
This property is on a small farm in The Carse of Gowrie only a mile from Abernyte. We are 20 minutes from Dundee city centre and 20 minutes (by car) from Perth city centre. Although rural we are about 7 minutes by car to the dual carriageway and then it is an hour to Edinburgh or an hour and a bit to the outskirts of Glasgow or within an hour you are up in the Highlands. Golf in Blairgowrie is 20 minutes away or golf in St. Andrews is 40 minutes away. Fishing in nearby lochs or on The River Tay is all within easy reach.
Other Activities: Shared table tennis and pool table on site as will as tennis court and walking
Golf: Blairgowrie golf course is within a 20 minute drive, it has the superb Rosemount and Landsdowne courses as well as the Wee Course. Visitor rates can be found on their website.
There is also golfing at Piperdam resort and then 40 minutes away you have all the courses of St. Andrews.
Ski: Just over an hour away you have the slopes of Glenshee. Or the far side of Edinburgh you have the artificial ski slope at Hillend.
