This quaint and private guesthouse at the rear of a large lot in Sonoma's lovely Eastside is a private wooded retreat walking distance to the historic Sonoma Plaza. It is perfect for couples or small families, and we are pet friendly! Only 45 minutes north of San Francisco, historic Sonoma Valley is one of California's oldest towns, as well as the birthplace of the California wine industry. The historic and scenic town plaza, complete with duck ponds, play grounds, and weekly farmer's markets, offers an array of dining and shopping options. The valley is within 10 miles of more than 30 wineries and home to a number of historic sites, including the northernmost of California's famous missions, General Vallejo's home, and Jack London's homestead. Sonoma is thought of as the more 'laid-back' wine country, and its welcoming attitude and world-class amenities make a very special place indeed.
The cozy guesthouse, with a dark wood exterior and light interior, is situated in private wooded setting. It is 120+ yards off the already quiet residential street and is separated and blocked from view of the main house by mature trees and a free standing outbuilding. It has two bedrooms (two queens), plus a very comfy queen sofa bed, one full and one half bath, and is furnished as a 'modern cottage'. There is a full kitchen, a dining room table that could seat six, as well as back deck for outdoor dining. It is pet friendly and has a (low) fenced back yard. There is central heating, window unit A/C, TV with limited cable, WiFi, and an iPod-ready stereo.
Please note that the cottage is located in a quiet residential neighborhood, and we live in another house on the same property. Please respect our neighbors and NO PARTIES. As well, outside noise is to be kept at a minimum after 9.00pm.
The cottage is maxed out at four people.
Refundable damage deposit required. Signed rental contract and the aforementioned damage deposit required to hold dates.

We are a family of four, all from Sonoma, and love our town and the surrounding region. We travel extensively and always wanted a place we could offer explorers coming to our town.
Owner purchased this Cottage in 2005

Such a special peaceful place
Spent all of March in this wonderful cabin and just fell in love with it and Sonoma. The cabin has everything you need; fully stocked kitchen, washer and dryer, fenced backyard, comfortable beds, privacy, and silence. A little slice of heaven. Liz and Jeff are wonderful hosts and Gigi the dog will eventually warm up to you. I will be back.
it's like playing house in a state park without worrying about the bears.
We wondered if we should cancel because of the fires last fall. It was more urgent for us to come anyway to help support the valiant efforts to recover. We rediscovered all the beauty we remembered and enjoyed going on day trips as well as making the rounds of the local restaurants, leaving some for next year. We're coming back and staying at Liz's again. A visit to their Gundlach Bunschu Winery was memorable too.
The Perfect Magical Escape
This cottage is magical. It's set back making it very private and quiet. Light streams in from both sides and it's surrounded by trees keeping it on the cool side. It's perfectly equipped, especially the kitchen and I do like to cook. Liz and Jeff are wonderful hosts, responsive to needs and respectful of privacy. The cottage is in a perfect location, just a short walk (or bike ride) to town and a Whole Foods (though I came to prefer the Sonoma Market). I adore the town of Sonoma and found it incredibly easy to meet people. So much to do, you can be as busy or laid back as you choose. I originally intended to stay for a month, then made it two months, then 5 months after which I decided to make Sonoma my home and found a longer term rental (I would have stayed in the cottage if it weren't already booked). I highly recommend this cottage and the town of Sonoma.
Lovely and quiet hideaway within 15 min walk to town through charming neighborhoods.
I could not have chosen a more perfect place to spend a month in Sonoma. Peaceful and private yet close enough to not feel at all isolated. I hope to return!
Wonderful stay at the Sonoma Cottage
I love the cottage! This was my second time to stay and I will be back. The cottage is charming in a lovely, historic area of Sonoma. It is comfortable and very private in a garden setting. A perfect walk to the downtown square, a few blocks of easy walking. And you can easily drive to Napa or any wine country site. In addition, all of the East Bay and San Francisco are accessible. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable and fun visit.
Peace and Quiet
This cottage was perfect and perfectly peaceful. It is cute, "rustic" and comfortable. I say "rustic" because it looks like a cabin, but is perfectly modern and well-appointed where needed. It is a very efficient space: cozy but spacious enough to not feel crowded. I loved the porches most, in the shaded, late-summer weather.
It is close to town and in a residential-type area, but set back in plenty of trees and shade so that the feel is secluded. It is perfect if you have animals as there is an enclosed yard. I brought my dog and 2 young children and there was a perfect balance of space inside and out. The owners are friendly, approachable and helpful, but also give you space and privacy.
