About The Owner

We started with a dream of being on Jocassee.

Why The Owner chose Lake Keowee

Lakes Jocassee and Keowee are tucked under the Blue Ridge Crescent where the Appalachian Mountains transition to the mid Atlantic Piedmont. The Crescent shields this protected watershed from industry and large farming. Rapid elevation change creates abundant waterfalls that oxygenate spring feed streams that support some of the best trout fishing on the east coast. One of these, Whitewater falls, is the highest east of the Mississippi. The pureness of this untouched wilderness brought it into the Jocassee Gorges Preserve to be frozen in time. Spending time here is superior to any place we have ever been.

What makes this house unique

In a rocker on the porch, in the middle of paradise on the end of a point right on water’s edge, watching trout swim while loons sing is as good as it gets. With only 30 homes on 75 miles of shoreline its quite and never crowded. By the way, the lake is nearly 400' deep.

Quality house with wonderful views. The pontoon boat made it perfect to tour the beautiful waterfalls on Jocassee. You can not go wrong with this house!

Most wonderful home ever rented!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I rented this home for a four night fall break in October. We are from NC, but had never heard of Lake Jocassee. Just stumbled upon this home on a VRBO search when Hurricane Matthew prevented us from getting to the coast. My husband and four children (ages 9, 13, 15, and 16) had one of the most wonderful, memorable vacations we've ever had due to this immaculate, unique beautiful home and the incredible setting on the lake. We have rented many homes over the past ten years, and this was by far the nicest, cleanest, best one we've ever rented. The owners were fantastic -- very responsive and helpful and genuinely cared about our having a great experience.

We spent our days on the lake. The boat made available to guests is spacious and powerful! Kids skiied, tubed and wakeboarded. It felt like we had our own private lake because there was almost no boat traffic (only about 30 houses on the entire lake), which is a plus when you're teaching young kids to ski. When we weren't enjoying water sports, we were hiking on/exploring the many waterfalls scattered throughout the lake. Finding them is like a treasure hunt, and was great fun for the kids. We spent our evenings enjoying dinners on the spacious porches, followed by family pool tournaments (pool table located in beautiful room overlooking lake)! We also spent lots of time hanging out in the adirondack chairs on the point (see pictures).

In many houses we've rented, you feel like the owners are providing the bare minimun. This was the opposite of that. All beds were fabulous, sheets soft, bathrooms immaculately clean, kitchen well stocked, family room furniture so comfortable. You felt as if your close friends were allowing you to use their very special lake home. And with the massive, clean windows, you were enjoying the lake views at every moment.

Only two negatives -- I would not want to arrive at night because the road leading to property is a long, gravel road and is fairly narrow and steep. So be sure to arrive before the sun sets! And secondly, if you like to have restaurants and a grocery store close by, this property won't work. It is a 30 minute drive to Cashiers where there is an Ingles and lots of restaurants. All that being said, once you're on this property, you'll never want to leave so just bring plenty of food with you!

We're so grateful to the owners for sharing this home with us! It is one special place!

Beautiful, clean, spacious, comfortable, picturesque

  • 5 of 5

Our family had an amazing vacation to Point Jocassee! It was our first trip and we look forward to our return! The house and property was immaculate! The view is second to none! We were attracted to this rental because it offered a boat and I am positive it would have been a much different trip without it. The lake borders State Park so there are waterfalls and trails to explore, but only by boat. We also enjoyed skiing and tubing cocktail cruising and jumping off the dock! Kyle was very easy to work with and answered all of our questions about the property. I read other reviews and brought paper products, dish soap, detergent, etc but forgot trash bags, which was a challenge. So make sure you pack all the necessities! There isn't a store within miles!!

beautiful home, beautiful property, tremendous boat, marvelous memories

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Point at Lake Jocassee for one week in early August of 2016. The reality of this beautiful home and property and surroundings far exceeded our expectations. The home is very well-appointed, yet very comfortable. The views from the multi-level decks are tremendous and even better when you go down to the boat dock and to the point.

The kitchen is well equipped and the five couples had a blast sharing dinner preparation each night. There is a gas grill outside the kitchen in addition to double stoves, a Cooktop and a full size refrigerator.

The pontoon boat included with the property is top-notch and the best boat we've ever had in a rental property or even rented out of Marina on a vacation. It has a 300 horsepower four stroke engine that is smooth and has enough power to pull skiers, tubers wakeboarders, etc. We spent many mornings and evenings on the boat going from waterfall to waterfall and just enjoying the beautiful Lake and surrounding vistas.

The 5-bedroom home is amazingly spacious and has beautiful furniture tastefully laid out. On the bottom level there is a pool table room with comfortable chairs and a fireplace. On the top level is a large family room with a huge screen TV and several more comfortable leather sofas and chairs. The kitchen has a table large enough to accommodate 10 people very comfortably. We spent many of our mornings first thing on the back porch with a cup of coffee and then came into the kitchen and made some great breakfasts.

The towns of Cashiers and Highlands are a short driving distance away, and made for some fun ventures out.

We have stayed at numerous Lakefront vacation homes over the years on Lake Nantahala, Lake Burton, Douglas Lake. But this by far was the most beautiful setting and best appointed home of any that we have rented. We would definitely go back again, and are considering a fall stay where we can see the leaves changing colors.

Thank you so much Kyle, for an amazing home, for your attention to detail, and for your professional, courteous and personal care.
