There are many movies to watch, outside games for children and adults plus a basketball hoop. Enjoy toasting marshmallows or cooking hot dogs on a stick over the lakeside fire pit.
When I was a child, our family owned property on Thompson Lake. This experience created so many wonderful memories including swimming and boating, sitting by the fire telling stories, and eating a picnic by the lake. I dreamed of owning a waterfront property on this wonderful lake and now I can share my dream with you and provide an opportunity for you to create your own special memories.
You may find you never want to leave the lake once you are here, but Maine is beautiful and has much to offer. We would be happy to suggest day trips and things to do in the area. We want this to be your home away from home.

About Mindy Davis
Growing up in Maine ourselves, and experiencing family time at the lake, we really wanted to be able to offer similar opportunities to other families. Being able to share memories and stories while sitting around a fire toasting marshmallows or cooking hot dogs, can be one of the best memories that you can experience with your family and/or extended family and friends. Having a fun BBQ and enjoying the outdoors while seeing loons, birds, and other wildlife can be most enjoyable when you are taking a break from your very busy everyday life.

Why Mindy Davis chose Otisfield
We love Thompson Lake in Maine. It is the lake that we grew up with. It is one of the cleanest lakes in Maine. It is a large lake yet is quiet as most folks that use the lake are living on the lake.

It was wonderful over all and a very nice clean and well equipped house!
This was an excellent house- very clean. We enjoyed the dock, the outdoor tables where we ate each meal, the fire pit, and 2 of the 3 available boats.
The location on the lake was good in some ways and perhaps not ideal in others. It was quiet most all week -except for us and a large party going on nearby our first (Saturday) night! The cove was good for swimming and kayaking but so shallow and full of stumps so needed to be very careful with our other small motor boat. It was about a half hour ride down to the other end of the lake where we rented a pontoon boat one day and were able to explore more of the larger part of the beautiful lake.
We would definitely recommend this property and Thompson Lake.
Thank you for your comments and for staying with us. Our cove has it's advantages: generally quiet and usually lots of wildlife, the shallow depth making it a bit easier for young children to go into the lake; but also the disadvantage of it being shallow and a little tricky with bringing in a motor boat. We of course review this information with our guests prior to their decision to determine if our home is a great fit for your family. We do enjoy being able to explore the rest of this very large lake as well and often will anchor a boat out in the deep section of the lake to go swimming and sometimes enjoy a lunch while watching the boats and wildlife. Hope you return again another year! ~Mindy and John at a lakeside dream
What an outstanding week at "a lakeside dream". Perfect in every way.
All the amenities, location, super clean and you can't go wrong being on Thompson Lake.
We were 5 adults and 3 children (8,7 and 6) and the house was still spacious. The wraparound deck and the dock area proved to be our favorite areas and lucky for us, the weather cooperated so they were used daily. Having the use of 2 kayaks and the canoe were a hit as well. We even found ourselves having a badminton challenge on the front lawn which became extremely competitive. (I did not win) It also was nice spreading out on the large sectional at night and chatting about our day.
Mindy was very professional and responsive to any questions throughout the whole rental process. She was a charm to work with.
Our overall experience was what we had hoped for and we would love to return in summer 2018 for sure.
Thank you again Mindy.
Cindy and family
We love it that our guests share their cherished memories that they have at our vacation home. Thompson Lake is a wonderful spot to enjoy nature at its finest, while taking the time to relax from busy lives and spending quality family time together.
We truly hope you will be able to return next year.

Well-cared for home. Owners wanted to make guests so comfortable
Home was so comfortable for everyone. Kitchen was so well equipped. The owners really thought about their guests when they set this home in motion. We felt so "at home" here. The lake was beautiful. They just thought about everything. Kudos to them. Thanks for a great week.
Thank you for your kind words. We often travel as well and rent homes which guides us to know what travelers might prefer. We are happy that you had a beautiful vacation and hope that you will return again someday!

Wonderful Location, Wonderful Property
We had a wonderful stay at this property. The owners were very professional and responsive and a pleasure to rent from. The property, and the lake, are both beautiful. The lake is very peaceful - nice to kayak and enjoy the wildlife. The home itself is lovely, has everything you need, is very comfortable and is obviously lovingly cared for by the owners. I highly recommend renting this home and would do so again myself.
Thank you for staying with us!! We also enjoy the warmth of our home and the peacefulness of the cove as well, and love sharing it with others to enjoy the time away from busy lives.
We hope that you will return often! ~Mindy and John at a lakeside dream
Dream come true
This was the perfect getaway we were dreaming of for the family this past year.
The lake in the back was just the right depth that we felt comfortable with the kids swimming and relaxing in the raft or cannoe. All the Amenities of home and Wifi service had us feeling like we were home. The owner was quick to answer any questions we had and very helpful in giving us tips on dining. I recommend this home to a friend who may visit Maine next year. The water is crystal clean. Thanks for a great stay!
Thank you for being our guests! We love the depth of our cove particularly for younger children and do try to provide all of the comforts of home. We hope you stay with us again soon!

The lake was a lot bigger then we realized.we rented a pontoon boat for a day and went exploring the whole lake. Everyday we used the kayaks and canoe. The house was very clean and comfortable ,Friday when the temperature hit 99* ,thank God for the basement it was 20 degrees cooler then upstairs. I would recommend your house for a vacation to anyone wanting to relax and spend time in and on the water.everything we needed for meals was in the kitchen. The restaurants were a distance away but were well worth the travel, The MillTavern in Bridgeton or Harrison was fantastic ,Cindy's Dockside was good also. I hope we can get the whole family to repeat next year .
Thank you very much for your kind comments. I remember you mentioning to me that the children were in the water the whole time and didn't even turn on the TV! Now that is a true vacation for all! You're right, the lake is quite large and is so beautiful. To us, it is a hidden treasure in Maine. I know the restaurants are about 30 minutes away if you want really great food but it's worth the drive when you don't want to cook some night. We truly hope that you will return next year to build on the memories that you had this year. Thank you for staying with us!

Thompson Lake is located in Oxford, Otisfield, Casco and Poland. It is spring-fed by the Poland Spring Aquifer and is considered one of the most pristine lakes in Maine. The lake is 12 miles long (4426 acres) and can be over 100 feet deep in some areas. The shoreline is fun to explore as it has many characteristics depending upon where you are. Some of the lake's shoreline is rocky, some beaches, some undeveloped areas, and there are many varied lake houses and cottages that are fun to view from a boat, canoe or kayak. It's also fun to see the sailboats finding their way around the lake. Use our canoe or kayaks to explore the lake, or the close by marina has boats for rent. Also, snorkeling can be such an adventure! Nature is at it's finest when you spot the ducks, deer, eagles, various species of fish, and enjoy the sight and sounds of loons on the lake. So, bring your own or rent a motor boat and enjoy this quiet beautiful lake. Enjoy the sunrises and sunsets on the Lake! For those of you that enjoy a little gambling, we are located about 10 minutes to the brand new Casino in Oxford! There is a local movie theater in Oxford and a drive-in theater that is in Bridgton. There is Candlepin Bowling 15 minutes away. Our home, 'a lakeside dream', is in the country yet is a reasonable drive to so many WONDERFUL destinations. Maine is known for it's fabulous four seasons. In the summer, enjoy scenic hikes, riding bikes, fishing (with license), boating, several nearby golf courses, walking trails, antiquing, go-karts/mini golf, not to mention shopping adventures that are less than an hour's drive. Freeport is home of the famous LL Bean Store and many national brand outlets. Old Port shopping district in Portland (with many unique shops) is a cruise ship destination. North Conway, NH shopping outlets are also about an hour's drive. The Portland Museum of Art and the Portland Children's Museum are also great day trips as well as watching a Portland Sea Dogs baseball game; The Sea Dogs are the Double-A Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. Splashtown/Funtown Amusement Park is about an hour and 15 minutes drive. For those that are race fans, there is our nearby Oxford Plains Speedway (10 minutes away) that has races all summer. The ocean with beautiful beaches and fabulous restaurants (a Maine Lobster Roll is a must!)is also less than an hour, yet you are also within an hour's drive to the mountains. Mount Washington is a wonderful adventure on a clear beautiful day! Fall is a time for apple picking and the fabulous leaf season. Fall foliage in Maine is spectacular! The bright colored leaves are beautiful on a sunny fall day, especially when reflected on the lake. Many take a day trip and enjoy beautiful scenic drives or for those hikers, there are hiking trails with spectacular views. Maine is famous for its' many agricultural fairs that begin in late summer and early fall. The Fryeburg Fair in October is a favorite! If what you are looking for is some time to rest, rejuvenate, enjoy peace and quiet time...whether it be to read a book on the large wrap around deck or watch the flames of the fire at the lakeside fire pit, enjoy some outdoor cooking, going for long walks, sitting on the dock with your toes in the water, then this really is the home to come to. Our home is yours to enjoy a lakeside dream and leave with many wonderful memories and with plans to visit us again soon!
