Each bedroom is decorated to reflect our love of travel, with baskets of books in each room. We love to read and can't bear to throw away a book so we keep them handy for our guests. About the owner: Montana natives who met and fell in love in college at Montana State University way back when, we love to travel and have visited over 30 countries....planning our next to Cabo San Lucas and back to our favorite city of Venice in the Springl. George spent his career in the telecommunications industry, after serving as a SeaBee in the U.S. Navy, starting out at the Naval Air Station in Dallas, TX and then having the great good fortune to spend 2.5 years on the Caribbean island of Antigua, BWI. He is a Civil Engineer and Project Manager and enjoys being your host at the Song of the Sea. He is an avid football fan, and partial to the Denver Broncos........... playing golf to distract himself when they lose! Jean was born and raised on a ranch in the Little Badlands of North Dakota. The daughter of homesteaders, she has fond memories of ranch life and the scoria topped buttes of the Badlands, where she spent long hours riding her horse. With a background in education, she is currently an Executive Coach in Portland, helping managers and executives to be more successful in their careers. We have three children and three grandchildren. Erick is an attorney in Portland and fills in for us as host occasionally. Cheryl is a Project Manager and lives in Seattle and Sacramento with her husband, Alan., and son Zachary (4). Julie teaches pre-school in DC where she lives with her husband, Chris, and their children, Cricket (18) and Erick (15).
Why the Owner Chose Cannon Beach, OR, USA:
Love at first sight! Cannon Beach is the quintessential charming beachfront retreat. Overflowiing flower baskets, charming boutique shops, gourmet restaurants and smiling people....We moved to Portland, OR with my husband's company in 1989 and soon discovered why everyone told us the first thing we needed to do was spend a weekend in Cannon Beach. We built our home here in1997, creating a 'home away from home' for our guests to enjoy the views and ambiance as much as we do.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Incredible views! Tea on the front deck to watch the sunrise, long walks along the beach. Our biggest decision is which coffee shop to visit. Then, it is off to an afternoon of golf and back to the deck for wine and cheese. Hiking up to Ecola Park through the old growth forest stretches our legs and our perspective on life. Watching the whales head off for the season and the pelican flocks stop to rest is a never ending sense of wonder at the cycles of life. Our home is in a quiet area overlooking the park where elk graze in the early morning, away from the bustle of day visitors to the beach, but close enough for a short stroll to downtown.
