I live in England for part of the year and Nice for the rest. I try to do 50/ 50 but i have to say i am more inclined to spend more time in Nice. I love the outdoor life, walking, running, cycling, swimming and skiing, all of these activities can be done in Nice and the surrounding areas which are also stunning. I enjoy history and art both are found in abundance on the Cote d' Azure. I love to cook and eat out, there is something very special about going to the market everyday with your basket to buy fresh produce, getting away from the trolley full of food from the supermarket. I like to have choices of type of restaurant as long as the standard of the food and wine is good, this goes without saying in Nice. I have many friends who have different likes and interests, all of them love to visit me in Nice as here is so much to do whatever appeals to you.
The Owner purchased this apartment in 2009
The initial beauty of Nice is it's ease of accessibility, only 30 minutes from the airport and served by a brilliant train service. Nice has everything from every form of water sport, every kind of out door activity including winter sports at nearby ski resorts accessible by a bus from the train station in Nice.
I wanted a location which offered not only a beach life but lots of cultural interest such as art galleries and museums and places of interest. I wanted a location with wonderful hot summers but mild winters as i hate the cold.
Another reason i chose to buy in Nice was the ease of traveling around, there is a very efficient bus and train service for very little money which takes away the need to drive which is a big plus. For the times when i want to get off the beaten track, it is very easy to rent a motorbike to discover the out of the way areas which are well worth seeing. Nice combines Italian and French so the food is not typically French although it is available. There is something very special about the light in Nice which is why for centuries the most acclaimed artists have congregated here, look out for the plaques on the buildings giving dates and names of who stayed there and for how long. It is an artists and photographers dream as the landscape and scenery are so physically beautiful and varied. Nice is by far the most beautiful place i had ever visited which is why i chose to live there.
Minutes after leaving the apartment you arrive at the Port of Nice full of beautiful yachts and local fishing boats. Follow the road around to the historic Promenade des Anglais, and Hotel Negresco. Approach the Cour Saleya, the open market place with it's many cafes bars and restaurants, a perfect place to dine in the sun and watch the world go by. Carry on further into the Old Town with its winding cobbled streets, full of interesting shops displaying local fayre at reasonable prices. Local bars serve up local and exceptionally good regional foods and wines. Every 100 yards you will stumble across a local boulangerie selling the most amazing breads and pastries. Everywhere you look the architecture is breathtaking, narrow streets open up into bustling squares where people sit outside enjoying a leisurely lunch or a drink in the sun. If you are a shopper head for the new town where top designer boutiques flourish along side the high street stores, a shoppers paradise! When you have shopped enough, jump on a bus or train and visit Cannes, Atibes, Monaco or any of the other amazing places of interest within an hours travel time. There truly is something for everyone the only questions to ask is how long should you stay and when shall you return!
We stayed in Nice for a week from the 10th September, our first time visiting Nice, and after arriving at the airport Kim had arranged to meet us at the apartment to show us around and advise on what to see and do during our stay, which was very useful! The apartment itself was very lovely indeed, had everything we could have needed even down to the little details of providing washing powder for the washing machine something you wouldn't think to bring and umbrellas which came in handy for those rainy days. Really was a home from home. We were a little concerned about there being no air conditioning but the fans did a good job of keeping the apartment cool. Our only gripe was the fact the apartment looked straight onto a busy noisy road but i guess it's to be expected of a very central location apartment in a big city - though on the plus side this meant we were close to a nearby bus stop (only about 100m away) for buses all the way to Monaco and beyond.
Overall we had a very lovely stay and we enjoyed being within walking distance to the port, the old town, the new area and being close to all the transport links.
The apartment is beautifully decorated and in a fantastic location. As much as we enjoyed going out, we loved sitting on the balcony in the evenings. Kim met us and was so helpful and gave us list of ideas for our stay.
Place Garibaldi, just around the corner, was fantastic for watching the world go by. We will, without doubt, be returning!
We rented this place for one week. There was no cold water in shower and also the potable hand faucet on bath tub was not working. We contacted the owner and asked for price adjustment for this inconvenient . There was NOT any explanations and price adjustment !!!!
I do NOT recommend this place.
A beautiful appartment in a very authentic location... everything for your comfort and entertainment, and a wonderful host!
The cold water faucet in shower is not working that means you have only hot water in shower. In bath tub portable shower does not work that means there is no way to take shower you. Have to get into bath tub and pure water on your self with a dish or with your hand.. Most of time there are people sitting just in front of enttrace door on the street smoking or drining., this is a bit disturbing.
