Unforgettable saltwater views await at this 3rd-floor, 2-bed, 1-bath vacation rental, across the street from the Saratoga Passage overlooking Whidbey Island. Watch the sunrise over Mt. Baker before attending Skagit Valley Tulip Festival only 30 minutes away. With zip lining, the YMCA, Cama Beach and state parks nearby, this area offers something for everyone; wedding parties, families, and kayakers!
** Enter via the second-floor dutch-door and walk through the quaint washing porch. A blue rocker sits outside for a nice place to relax. Another blue outdoor lounge chair is on the landing where the wide stair begins. The small bottom-level porch with separate stairs to the right is not part of the main house and may be occupied by a tenant. The 2nd floor may be occupied also.*
Master Bedroom Suite (Third Floor): King Bed | Bedroom 2 (Third Floor) w/ Shower Adjoining: Queen Bed |
The spacious 3rd floor has access to a deck in front from both the king and queen bedrooms. The panoramic view of the salt water is spectacular! You're now on the level with a nearby eagle perch.
The outside door leads to another, larger deck with a cement patio just below and railroad tie steps with railing leading to the washing porch area. On the wooded hill above, is another set of steps with a handrail which leads up to Brown Street. Once you're familiar with the hillside entrance, you may prefer to park on the grassy area above. After sunset, only use this way if you have a flashlight.
A quick drive across the bridge will take you to this property, just 1.5 hours north of Seattle on I-5 and then west off the Cama Beach/Stanwood exit. This spacious 1-floor vacation island retreat beckons with sweeping views of Saratoga Passage, Whidbey Island, and the sleeping volcano Mt. Baker from windows, decks, and patios.
You'll fall in love with the cozy interior, framed by large windows that flood the entire residence with plenty of natural light. While the home maintains its original 1930's charm, you'll find all the amenities you desire, including TV with cable, wireless internet access, and more.
You won't have any trouble putting your mind to ease throughout your stay with million-dollar sea views sure to impress from every window. You haven't truly experienced the beauty of the area until you've seen the brisk coast in the winter or an autumn sunrise over Mt. Baker. Even Northern Lights can sometimes be seen reflecting over the water.
For your convenience, a tabletop mini-cooking area with microwave, small refrigerator, and George Foreman tabletop grill are provided. This will enable you to embellish picnics on the patio or to have popcorn while watching TV or reading some of the provided books.
During the Summer, visit the farmer's market in Stanwood or stop by a roadside produce stand to grab the ingredients for a fresh, locally sourced meal. The Camano Island & La Conner areas have superb dining choices from a simple fish and chips or pizza to gourmet options, including the Camano Island Inn. Also south on the island is Camano Beach, where a view restaurant is open with limited hours, but sometimes extravagant spreads like for Thanksgiving Day (parking permit is required).
Linger in the evening outside in the gentle sea breeze on the balcony as you try to catch a glimpse of whales swimming in the distance or crabbers pulling up their pots. When you're ready to call it a night, retreat to the master king suite or equally inviting queen bedroom, where you can curl up with one of the many excellent books.
Perched across the street from the beach, this property boasts a prime location! Enjoy easy access to the water and the Maple Grove public boat launch just 2 blocks east of the home - you'll want to bring your boat along if you have one! There's boat parking in the grassy area behind the house on Brown Street.
There is private beach access available to you nearby at the end of Scenic Drive. Spend your days lounging on the shores or walking the stony beach looking for shells and agates. Cama Beach State Park also offers activities, a restaurant, and a wooden boat center, along with Camano Island State Park, each just a few minutes away.
If you're a seafood lover, try to catch crabs in the sea and bring them back to rinse the crabs in the sink found on the patio (Washington saltwater fishing license needed and no harvesting allowed Tuesdays and Wednesdays - check locally for proper permits).
Visit during December and January to watch as thousands of Snow Geese, Tundra, and Trumpeter Swans migrate to the area. Other birds you can see include Peregrine Falcons, Gyr Falcons, Snowy Owls, Herons, and waterfowl of nearly every species. Bird enthusiasts will want to visit during the Port Susan Bird festival.
Nature lovers can spend time in one of the 2 State Parks on the island, or partake in the world-famous Skagit Valley Tulip Festival and La Conner Daffodil Festival, which takes place less than 30 minutes from the property.
If you're feeling lucky, a 20-minute drive will bring you to 2 casinos, where you can spend time gambling and indulge in the delicious buffet. Once you've had your fill, catch a show at one of the casinos, which often have international performers. The home is also close to the Tulalip outlet mall complex for great shopping!
