About Reservations

We love traveling the world, eating wonderful ethnic food, experiencing nature, and visiting historical places.

Reservations purchased this house in 2008

Why Reservations chose Smoky Mountains

We grew up in Brevard so we know about the natural beauty of the area. We inherited this lakehouse from one of our parents who in 2008 built this special lake retreat house, called Belonging Place, so that she and groups she cared about could renew themselves in the beautiful, quiet mountains and the mesmerizing lake.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Ripples of tiny waves, a dance of wind and water, sunlight and shadows. A weekend for family get together in this mountain lake retreat. We now belong here too. With love and light

Beautiful, well appointed, they had thought of everything.

  • 5 of 5

Loved the location. Plenty room for the 9 of us. View of the lake is fabulous. Close to waterfalls for hiking. Everything was impectible with the exception of the kitchen sink. I am sure the owners know about the stains. It really should replaced, since it detracts from the otherwise wonderful ambiance of the cabin.

Serene setting, immaculate home, welcoming feel.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I shared our 20th anniversary this weekend at this lovely home, and it was every bit as warm and welcoming as we had hoped. The simplicity of design allows the home to feel both elegant and warm. The open floor plan, beauty of furnishings, abundance of thoughtful planning in this home made for a truly wonderful, charming vacation. The execution of the home's design and the attention to detail with its building and grounds was just fun to revel in.The lake is breathtakingly clean and crisp. The variety of boats to play with was so much fun. The neighborhood was perfect for morning walks, and the view looking towards Pisgah was phenomenal. The neighborhood's commitment to maintaining a peaceful noise level was wonderful. My only regret was I left feeling as if I wish I had known Faye....Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness, and for sharing this obviously much beloved home. And thank you for providing such rich books to enjoy. The photo journal of Sodom Laurel was riveting.

Belonging Place

  • 5 of 5

Our family truly enjoyed all the amenities at this beautiful lake house. They used the canoe, kayaks, paddle board and pedal boat. They fished' made s'mores, jumped off the floating dock and enjoyed the beautiful view from the living room. We spent a couple days exploring the nearby waterfalls and even went down the sliding rock. It is what vacations are all about. This is a place we will seriously consider coming back to again.

Definitely the best place we'v ever rented!

  • 5 of 5

Our three generation family getaway was wonderful! We loved everything about this lovely house and its peaceful setting on the lake. It is tastefully decorated yet very comfortable and Inviting with plenty of space for the 8 of us. Everything we needed was available and we spent many hours on the lake on the boat, kayaks, canoe and paddle board. The dock and the porch with its cozy fireplace were our favorite places to gather. We all felt that we did belong at Belonging Place.
