A note from the owner: Our family loves Lahaina and Hawaii. We have been coming to Maui since 1966. My son was born in Hawaii and was lucky enough to be the developer of Aina Nalu.

Excellent Location, Clean and comfortable

The condo is located within a couple of blocks to downtown, perfect to have dinner locally and a walk by the promenade. Pictures of the condo were accurate. Everything was clean and prepared. We had an excellent vacation. This was our second stay in the Aina Nalu apartments. Thank you for having us.

Nashville area

Great location and updated

We had a wonderful trip. The unit is within easy walking to Front Street. The balcony overlooks the well appointed pool & spa area with comfortable lounge chairs, tiki torches and a roomy open air pool house filled with sofas, tables and even a large TV. The owner provides 4 packpack style beach chairs, 6 beach towels, 2 snorkel sets and boogie boards. If you have a baby, they’ve thought of everything you might need. The bathrooms & kitchen are updated. Everything was clean and pretty. Living area is extremely tight (but we didn’t mind). There is dining space for 8 or more. Suggestions for a better experience would be to add needed kitchen necessities. I called the rental company because I had to scramble my 2 eggs in a very oversized salad/serving bowl and I felt like we were missing the other size bowls. There were several extremely small (kid sized) cereal bowls and a few very small 3inch square Tupperware. The agent said this was all we were supposed to have (in addition to a container used for sealing bread). She suggested we buy single use bowls to use during our stay. We later found a need for a wine opener and scissors (the 1 in the knife block only has 1 handle). Luckily we found a neighbor at the pool who let us borrow a few things. Plan to purchase the daily/weekly parking pass. This unit is the farthest away from the free street parking. The lot for this complex was almost empty (our entire building only had 2 cars in front of it!) but you must pay a separate company for parking privileges. Even with those issues, we would stay in this unit again and would recommend to friends.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review, Dottie. We're glad you liked the balcony and lounge area by the pool. We inspect every unit before an arrival and do our best to keep the necessary amenities stocked. We do keep a set of 6 cereal bowls in the units along with a wine key and a pair of scissors. We will make sure that these items can be easily found for our future guests. In regards to onsite parking, it is managed by a third party however, we are able to offer our guests a prepaid rate of $17.50/day and the lot across the street which is $10/day. We hope that you enjoyed your time on Maui and that you will allow us to host you next time you are here!

No drinks in the pool

The grounds were gorgeous and located just two blocks from Front Street, which worked great for our group who wanted to walk to dinner. The condo itself was just as pictured and was perfect for two couples. We loved that chairs and an umbrella were provided and we were greeted with a sweet card and a bottle of champagne to celebrate our 30th birthday. Also, as stated, this unit has a nice view of the pool from the lanai.

Unfortunately, we had a mouse in the condo on day one, a gecko day two, and ghost ants the entire trip. We couldn't leave a crumb out without hundreds of ants infecting the counter. Thankfully maintenance responded to the mouse incident and when we came home from our Luau we found the mouse stuck in a trap, which my husband had to dispose of. We had friends who rented out three other units during this trip and did not have an issue with critters like us.

Also, after a long day of adventuring, all we wanted to do was relax in the pool with a drink. However, you are NOT allowed to drink in the pool. I understand no glass, but you can't even have a plastic cup, can, or reusable cup. We couldn't even drink a water in the pool. What?!! Even the actual condo owners in the pool complained about this. We were being respectful of the pool and other guests when Victor, the security guard, aggressively ripped the lid off our cooler and a beer out of my husband's hand. We will not stay here again because of this.

Also, since we rented through Coconut Condos, any assisance we needed was not on site; however, they were very attentive and called to check in on us. Parking is also $20/night. I noticed many cars parked without a permit and they only received warnings. There is also plenty of free parking on the street.

Our time here was perfect. The place was clean & had everything we would need. Loved that it was close to the beach, the pool & downtown. Definitely a place I would stay again if we return to Maui!!

Superb Accomodation & Customer Service

Our home away from home. Outstanding maintenance response. With few glitches To correct will make our next stay sweeter. Please install exhaust system in the bathroom/toilet. It was very hot inside because of no air circulation. Microwave was too high like renters who will use it are six footers in height. Mind the communal trash bins they need to be checked and emptied otherwise increase the size and number of bins. With so much EMPTY PARKING SPACE in the property let the paying condo renters use at least one assigned parking space for free as part of your beautiful accomodation. You renters will love you for including an assigned parking space with their paid stay. That is a good gesture and incentive for them to come back in your rental. With so much money you make in rental giving back little to the customers will pay itself back when we come back to Maui and stay in your place again. Our gain is your gain when we return because of your goodness and generosity.

In regards to parking, we do understand your frustrations; unfortunately, the parking and the fees are set by the Aina Nalu developers and are beyond our control. We continue to meet with the board and continue to give the feedback from our guests. If you chose to stay with us again (and we hope you do!), we do have a discounted rate that we were able to secure from the developers of $17.50 per day and we also have an agreement with a nearby parking garage that allows our guests to stay for $10 per day. We do hear you though, and it is truly something we continue to work on. We hope you otherwise enjoyed your time on Maui and we hope to see you again very soon! The Coconut Condos Team

We booked this unit based on the description on multiple websites - newer furniture, bedding, A/C in the living room and bedrooms. The condo development itself is older and not all that well kept up on the outside, although the pool is very nice. We were pleasantly surprised when we saw our unit - small but nicely furnished. We were very nervous to see ant traps in the kitchen, and then finding ants on the counter. We got rid of them and hoped that was the end of it. It was not. On our third day, the infestation in the kitchen was awful. We walked in from a long day out and found that two loaves of banana bread which we left out, sealed, on the counter were filled with ants. One had never been opened but the ants found a way in. the counter had hundreds of ants on it. I immediately called Coconut Condos and was brushed off. I asked to speak to a manager/supervisor and was told I was speaking to Valerie, who said there's no one higher up in her company. She seemed to think we were most upset about losing the food - of which we lost quite a bit - rather than the fact that we didn't want to live in an infested condo for one more night. Nothing was resolved. I called back at 7:15 PM, after hours to see if someone could come and help us take care of killing all the ants. I was told that Valerie would call me back within a few minutes. We never received that call, never received an email and have still never heard back from the company - not with an apology for what we had to endure or offering us another unit. NOTHING. I would stay away from Coconut Condos at all costs. Being a family owned business may sound like you get personal attention but what it really means is that you have no recourse if they don't follow through with the care of their clients.

Unfortunately, we notice a higher prevalence of "ghost ants" during the summer months and even more so if any food is left out on the counter. We encourage our guests to be sure to put everything in the refrigerator, even if it doesn't need to be at home. Street parking is available for free and on-site parking is $20/day. This charge is collected at the front desk. If you decide to pay for parking on property, Outrigger Aina Nalu requires payment for your full stay or the remainder of your stay (if you purchase a pass mid-way through your vacation). Coconut Condos has negotiated rates at a parking lot across the street for $10/day. Please note, for stays 14 days or longer, we do require a mid-stay clean for an additional fee of $115+tax.
We strongly recommend you purchase travel insurance. No refunds will be given for storms and hurricanes. In the case of “Hurricane Warning” for Maui, a one-time date change, without penalty, will be available within 48 hours of arrival. Date changes must be made within 1 calendar year of original dates of stay.

Manager's Cancellation Policy

  • 100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
