About the property

Condo, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Sleeps 6

Right in the heart of beautiful Carnelian Bay, Howling Wolf Townhome displays Native American decor throughout the comfortable spaces. The complex also has seasonal pool, year-round hot tubs, tennis, and the most convenient location in North Tahoe!

With two bedrooms plus a loft, and two full baths, the home can accommodate up to six guests. You will all want to gather in the great room to cook, barbecue on the balcony deck, build a fire, read a book, and watch TV or movies. The vaulted ceiling great room has relaxing seating, a cozy wood fireplace, and sliding glass door to the balcony deck with propane grill and seating. The main floor also features a queen bedroom and a full bath.

On the upper level, you will revel in the comfort of a queen master bedroom, loft bedroom with two twin beds, and a full bath accessible from either area. The whole house is bathed in natural Sierra light, but able to be softened with micro-blinds.

Carnelian Woods has so much to offer that you might never leave: Tennis, seasonal pool, year-round hot tubs, clubhouse with pool table and arcade, hiking, biking, and par course. And the larger area of Carnelian Bay has a great beach on Lake Tahoe, watersports rentals, great restaurants for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, pier, marina, convenience store, and miniature golf course.

Of course, all North Tahoe has to offer is just minutes away. Kings Beach is just three miles up the road, and Tahoe City is six miles down the other way. Alpine, Squaw, and Northstar Ski Resorts are all within 12 miles! Crystal Bay, Nevada's historic casinos and nightlife are just four miles away, and Incline Village, Nevada's casinos, world-class restaurants, and recreation center are eight miles from the condo.

About Vacasa, CA - Lake Tahoe Office

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Dark in the daytime, but cozy at night. Management difficult to reach

 • 3 of 5

The townhouse is kind of dark and dated, but it's also comfortable and clean. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, bowls, cups, utensils, etc. The owners have also recently updated to a modern flat screen smart tv, which was not pictured. There were two snafus during our stay. One was the terrible and totally wrong emailed directions to the home. The address given for the home seems to actually be the address for the Carnelian Woods sign on North Lake Boulevard. The home is located on a completely different street, called Sahara, in a neighborhood with 100s of homes and maybe 20 streets? The neighborhood has no street lights at all, and cell phone service in Tahoe being what it is, we couldn't pull up a map of the neighborhood when we realized the emailed directions were useless. We just had to drive around the dark neighborhood for 20 minutes before stumbling onto the correct location in dumb luck. If you rent this house, ignore the given address on North Lake Boulevard and ignore the emailed directions. The house is on Sahara. Turn onto Sahara from North Lake Boulevard, drive up Sahara, and make a right when you see a sign for Townhouses 47-58 (also confusing, given that it is called a condo here and has a unit number. Unit number=Townhouse number). Pull into the parking lot, park on the far left, and go down the ramp on the left. The townhouse is directly in front of the ramp. The other snafu involved the gas fireplace. We turned it on at night, and then could not figure out how to turn it off. It would seem to go off and then would blaze up again 30 minutes later. There were no posted instructions and no information in the home's information binder. The next morning, we were trying to get out early to go skiing but did not want to leave with the fireplace blazing. We called all the numbers available for Vacasa, the rental property management. They claimed to be open 7 days a week and have local staff. It took a couple tries and leaving messages in a couple places before reaching someone. This delayed us getting to the slopes for the day. We told them our problem and they did not know how to fix it. They said they would send someone over but they did not. They also never called us back. Eventually, we figured out (we think?) that the gas fireplace is linked to a digital thermostat on the other side of the room in the entry way of the house.

Ok ski house, management not great

 • 3 of 5

The house is ok. It's dark, though very clean and comfortable. The overall management could use upgrading. The directions to the house are not helpful at all and we spent a lot of time driving around randomly in the neighborhood because the house's street address has nothing to do with the house's actual location. Also, we couldn't get the gas fireplace to turn off. It took 30 min to reach anyone at Vacasa and they had no answers. They said they'd send someone over, but they never did and never called us back either.
