About Sandra Welch

My husband and I have been married for 38 years. We have one son and daughter-in-law and a very active 8 yr. old grandson. We enjoy boating on Lake Whitney with our family & friends every chance we get.

Sandra Welch purchased this house in 2008

Why Sandra Welch chose Clifton

We live just a few blocks away and it is perfect for when we entertain family and friends. Everyone has a nice comfortable place to stay when we have a full house.

This home has a great view and since most all the homes sit on a bluff, as does this one, not many home is accessible to the lake.

We have been coming to Lake Whitney and Laguna Park in particular since the mid 1970's. My husband use to ride motocross in Whitney and we enjoyed staying at the state park and lodges in the area. After we married and had our son we enjoyed coming here to fish and go boating. We purchased a cabin became "weekenders" for awhile. We finally had an opportunity to move here full time in 2003. We love the scenic beauty of the area. The lake is clear and clean. It's a great lake for water sports and fishing. The lifestyle is relaxed and friendly. it's close to Whitney, Hillsboro, Waco, Clifton and Meridian. And just a little over an hour to Dallas and Ft. Worth.

What makes this house unique

Lakeside Cottage is a cozy home in a quiet neighborhood. It backs up to Lake Whitney and is shady, private and peaceful. Gorgeous lake view's from most every room. You'll want to spend your time on the upper or lower deck watching the boats pass by. You can walk from the back yard down to the lake for a swim or great fishing. Watching the birds, squirrels, fox & raccoons is great entertainment. The night sky is wonderful for star gazing. It's close to nearby boat ramps and Uncle Gus Marina.

We offer 4 and 8 hour pontoon boat rental to our guests which includes gas. Call or e-mail for details and to check availability.

Beautiful setting for a girlfriends getaway

  • 5 of 5

My good friend and I met at the house to have a break from our busy lives and just hang out. It was perfect. Quiet and picturesque. We enjoyed shopping at the Brazos River Mkt. in Whitney and had a great lunch at the bakery there. We also drove to Clifton to visit the Emporium and Lady Bugs. We cooked our own meals and enjoyed the peacefulness of Lake Whitney in the late p.m. and evenings. Sandra Welch, the owner, was accessible and helpful. We had a great time.

Needs some work

  • 3 of 5

This house has potential, however upon entering we first had to clean crumbs off the counter, the TV would work for about 10 minutes, then die, the beds, though comfortable, squeaked so badly it interrupted sleep and the lake is beautiful but swimming would not be easy due to a poor stairway to the water and really nowhere to take a safe swim. We have rented many houses from Homeaway and this is our first disappointment.

Great House

  • 5 of 5

Quiet, peaceful and a wonderful view of the lake. Exceptionally clean and comfortable. (Except the bed pillows were a little flat) But I always take my own pillow. So no biggie for me personally. Lots of birds. We all had a great time. Would definitely stay there again.

Great family get-away.

  • 5 of 5

If your looking to unplug and just enjoy nature for a couple of days this is the house for you.

The house is a comfortable 2 bed/bath, bathrooms are nice size and beds are comfortable. Plenty of space in the kitchen to cook if you choose to do so. Inside laundry area if you wanted to wash/dry anything. Lovely views from the back patio of the lake. No wifi/cable which for this trip was great in that, it opened up the opportunity to play card games and dominos with the kids. We visited Waco in the afternoon after fishing the morning, for a "Fixer Upper" tour of Magnolia house and Harp Design. We also went to the Waco Mammoth National Monument one day which was really neat to see.

We docked our boat at the marina close by for easy access to the lake, for tubing and fishing everyday. The only challenge we had was parking the boat trailer at the house, because the circle driveway is narrow and not a lot of space to turn-around to back it in the covered area. Over all our stay this week was a great family get-away.

Owner's Response: Happy you enjoyed home, lake and Waco! Our grandson enjoyed the Mammoth National Monument as did I. I have many guests who come to visit the Magnolia. Next visit you may try The Dr. Pepper Museum in Waco which is really neat. If your bringing little ones and even not so little ones, try and visit Fossil Rim and Dinosaur Valley in nearby Glenrose. Thank you and come again!

Great area for Motorcycle Riding around lake & surrounding area.

Lake Whitney is a great place to swim, ski and all boating and water sports.

We rent pontoon boats to our guests or you can leave the driving to someone else and hire someone to take you on a lake cruise to relax and enjoy the scenic beauty of the lake.

Fishing is great on Lake Whitney from the marina behind this home or you can go out with one of many Fishing Guides, call me for recommendation.
