About Sandra Welch
My husband and I have been married for 38 years. We have one son and daughter-in-law and a very active 8 yr. old grandson. We enjoy boating on Lake Whitney with our family & friends every chance we get.
Sandra Welch purchased this House in 2008
Why Sandra Welch chose Clifton
We live just a few blocks away and it is perfect for when we entertain family and friends. Everyone has a nice comfortable place to stay when we have a full house. This home has a great view and since most all the homes sit on a bluff, as does this one, not many home is accessible to the lake. We have been coming to Lake Whitney and Laguna Park in particular since the mid 1970's. My husband use to ride motocross in Whitney and we enjoyed staying at the state park and lodges in the area. After we married and had our son we enjoyed coming here to fish and go boating. We purchased a cabin became "weekenders" for awhile. We finally had an opportunity to move here full time in 2003. We love the scenic beauty of the area. The lake is clear and clean. It's a great lake for water sports and fishing. The lifestyle is relaxed and friendly. it's close to Whitney, Hillsboro, Waco, Clifton and Meridian. And just a little over an hour to Dallas and Ft. Worth.

Would go back!
The owners are very kind and helpful. Spacious enough for two families of three people to stay, beautiful back yard that was great for the kids, close to the marina so you could rent a covered boat slip.
I hope to come back again! It is a wonderfully peaceful home with wonderful lake view. The stars at night are beautiful as well.
Great place for a romantic getaway
Great view from living/dining area
Loved the upstairs deck
Thank you for your review. I think everyone enjoys the lake views from the upstairs deck.
It is a great place to getaway and relax.
Beautiful setting for a girlfriends getaway
My good friend and I met at the house to have a break from our busy lives and just hang out. It was perfect. Quiet and picturesque. We enjoyed shopping at the Brazos River Mkt. in Whitney and had a great lunch at the bakery there. We also drove to Clifton to visit the Emporium and Lady Bugs. We cooked our own meals and enjoyed the peacefulness of Lake Whitney in the late p.m. and evenings. Sandra Welch, the owner, was accessible and helpful. We had a great time.
So glad you enjoyed your home and the great shops in Whitney and Clifton. We are close enough to Waco to go to The Magnolia at the Silos too. Thank you for choosing are home for your getaway and we hope you come back again real soon!
Perfect lake stay getaway
We really enjoyed our stay. The place is nice home & perfect for our guys lake retreat
Thank you for choosing our home and I hope you have an opportunity for a return trip.
Needs some work
This house has potential, however upon entering we first had to clean crumbs off the counter, the TV would work for about 10 minutes, then die, the beds, though comfortable, squeaked so badly it interrupted sleep and the lake is beautiful but swimming would not be easy due to a poor stairway to the water and really nowhere to take a safe swim. We have rented many houses from Homeaway and this is our first disappointment.
I am so sorry there were issues with home during your stay. I can't explain the crumbs on counter since I do inspect home before each guest checks in. Apparently I missed that.
The TV has since been replaced and I'm sorry that this happened during your stay. As with any home you sometimes don't have a warning when things are about to stop working. We thought at first it may be an issue with antenna. We don't offer cable or satellite and have only local channels and a DVD player. In October you never know what the weather will be so I understand TV is important when you can't get out to enjoy the outdoors as much.
I don't know what to say about the beds squeaking. They seemed fine when I tried them and I have not had any other complaints but of I have not slept on them over night either. My husband did inspect the beds and tightened a couple of bolts so maybe this was the issue.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
The homes that are lakefront as ours, adjoin Army Corp of Engineers property so we have no control over the property conditions at waters edge since it is to remain in it's natural state. We are lucky that there was at one time a dock in water below our home and that is why there are steps that lead partially down to water. Lake levels go up and down as well and although it may be more of a challenge sometimes it is certainly doable to fish or swim from bank. This area may not be suitable for everyone to get into the water, such as small children who like to play in shallow water and splash about, since this is a deep lake and there is not a gradual incline to water. Life jackets of course for children always a must and guests enjoy swimming or using floats to relax and cool off. Many of our guests enjoy swimming and fishing from this area with no issues.
There is a sandy swim area at the dam less than 3 miles away. This area is easily accessible and seen from dam on Hwy 22. There is also a playground there.
Less than 3 miles from home near dam there is a small water park called Bosque Resort Fun Lake. They have slides, swimming pools and a lazy river. This would have been closed in October.
Again, I apologize for any inconvenience during your stay. I do appreciate your letting me know about the issues. I will do my best to make corrections once brought to my attention.
Quiet, peaceful and a wonderful view of the lake. Exceptionally clean and comfortable. (Except the bed pillows were a little flat) But I always take my own pillow. So no biggie for me personally. Lots of birds. We all had a great time. Would definitely stay there again.
Glad you enjoyed home! I hope you come back again. And thank you for letting me know about the pillows. I will take a look at those and replace as needed.
Great area for Motorcycle Riding around lake & surrounding area.
Lake Whitney is a great place to swim, ski and all boating and water sports.
We rent pontoon boats to our guests or you can leave the driving to someone else and hire someone to take you on a lake cruise to relax and enjoy the scenic beauty of the lake.
Fishing is great on Lake Whitney from the marina behind this home or you can go out with one of many Fishing Guides, call me for recommendation.
