About Sandra Welch

My husband and I have been married for 38 years. We commute from our office in Midlothian to our home at Lake Whitney each day. We have one son, a daughter-in-law and an adorable active 8 yr. old grandson. We enjoy boating on Lake Whitney with our family & friends every chance we get.

Sandra Welch purchased this house in 2010

Why Sandra Welch chose Prairies & Lakes

This property is next door to our personal home and is perfect for for when we entertain family and friends. Everyone has a nice comfortable place to stay. It also has plenty of parking for boats, jet skis and circle drive-way for easy in and out.

We have been coming to Lake Whitney and Laguna Park in particular since the mid 1970's. My husband use to ride motorcross in Whitney and we enjoyed staying at the state park and lodges in the area. After we married and had our son, we enjoyed coming here to fish and go boating. We purchased a cabin and became 'weekenders' for awhile. We finally had the opportunity to move here full time in 2003. We love the scenic beauty of the area. The lake is clear and clean. It's a great lake for water sports and fishing. The lifestyle here is relaxed and laid back. The people are friendly. It's near Hillsboro and Waco. And just a little over an hour to downtown Dallas & Ft. Worth. We purchased this home because we love the location. It has a panoramic view of the lake & cliffs. We enjoy sitting outside and watching the boats & water skiers. It is a great place for our family and friends to stay when our home cannot accommodate everyone. Or, they need a place to relax, have fun & getaway.

What makes this house unique

Sunset Cove Cabin has some of the best lake views around. Relax with a glass of wine and watch the sunset from the back yard swing. You can walk down to the lake from the back of the house and fish or go for a swim. We enjoy watching the many species of birds, especially the cardinals. There are also ducks and geese and sometimes in early spring, pelicans pass through. The raccoon's and squirrels are fun to watch as well. You may see one of the many fox that pass through behind the house near the lake. Deer can be spotted across the cove from the back porch too. Just sitting on the back porch watching the boats pass is fun and relaxing. If you like to star gaze this is the perfect place, no city lights!

We offer 4 and 8 hour pontoon boat rental to our guests. Please call or e-mail for details and to check availability.

Truly a place for a great family gathering.

  • 5 of 5

We were there for a two nights stay. Our group from youngest 6 to oldest 60, all love the experience. We stars gazing and gather around the fire which the kids have so much fun building both nights. The view of the lake was amazing. Thank you Sandra for letting us stay at your beautiful home.

WONDERFUL!

  • 5 of 5

I rented this house for a 30th birthday. We had an amazing time, sitting on the patio and having a bonfire. This house sits perfectly on the lot, and has an amazing view of the stars. The owners live next door, and allowed us to use their wood for the fire. Perfect getaway for families and friends!

Owner's Response: Thank you for choosing our home for your getaway. This home is perfect for families and friends to relax and enjoy the outdoors. The stars at night are amazing to look at and you have the beautiful lake view during the day. Last summer we had many more fire flies than normal that put on an amazing show at night. I hope we have as many this year.

Great Place for a relaxing weekend.

  • 4 of 5

We were at the sunset cove for the new year weekend. It was a wonderful experience by the lake side. The house was clean and every room had a lake view. We accessed the lake through the back yard and spent some quality time by the water. We also made bonfire at the pit provided. It was overall a wonderful stay. Only thing we missed was a King bed. The boat rental was worth the money and we just loved it. I would definitely recommend to others and will also love to return back.

Stunning Views

  • 5 of 5

We were at Sunset Cove over Thanksgiving The views of the lake from the home and grounds were really stunning - the sunsets in particular. It was very roomy for our 5 guests. We came to enjoy family and and relax so it turned out to be a great place to do this. Really appreciated the large screened porch. The homeowners provided good information, were prompt with communications and the home was clean. Highly recommend this property.
