My husband, Simon and I are English and moved to St. Lucia in 2007. We renovated this property and set up Blue Skies.
We love the Island and our ambition is to help our guests have a fantastic time.
We love the Rodney Bay area, it is where everything happens. You have the best of both worlds: the buzz surrounding the restaurants, bars and night-clubs along by Reduit Beach...The beautiful scenery and quiet sophistication of Rodney Bay Marina parading elegant yachts of every shape and size.
Within a few minutes we have Pigeon Island - a National Park, so quiet and beautiful: you can lay on a near deserted beach taking in the fantastic views with the calm waters of the Caribbean sea gently lapping.
For contrast, travel another 7 or 8 minutes to the wild side. Cas en Bas Beach is on the Atlantic Coast: here the constant warm winds provide power for the Kite Surfers and horses take their riders into the sea. The landscape is rugged and breathtaking.
We offer to take our guests to all the places mentioned, the day after they arrive, to show them the diversity of this part of the Island and hopefully help them to get as much as possible from their stay.
Throughout the time guests stay with us, we are available to assist; whether it is a small thing like where to buy a particular item or some thing larger -planning a major excursion of the Island for instance, we are always delighted to help in any way we can - we love St. Lucia and want our guests to leave with unique and long-lasting happy memories.
Francine Anthonisz purchased this apartment in 2007
A clean and large apartment set-up for living comfortably, a pool a step away, a nice porch to sit outside and enjoy the day and evening, two very friendly and responsible hosts and three dogs to keep you company, or not depending upon your pet needs. The pluses, make sure you have Simon or Francine pick you up at the airport. Cooler with cold beverages and a bit of local info on the 90 minute drive to the apartment. Very much appreciated the orientation the following day to get a feel of the layout. A short 10 or 15 minute walk to the supermarket or go further to town about a 1/2 hr from Blue Skies. If you don't want to walk and Simon or Francine aren't available call Alie the Cabbie! HE IS FABULOUS! Timely, clean, safe drive and knows so much about everything happening on the island. Plus he's a chef you want him to cook at your apt. It is a bit far for beach enjoyment but that wasn't a problem for us as we were busy with different tours and places of interests. Simon and Francine are as friendly to visitors if you wish or if it's privacy they give you that. I appreciated that aspect of staying at Blue Skies. All in all, I highly recommend Blue Skies. We spent a month in the apartment. It was as delightful as the photographs imply and previous guests attest. There can be few better locations on the island. Simon and Francine were the most convivial and attentive of hosts. The shops are within walking distance and the bus stop at the end of the road ensures easy access to beaches and sites that may be of interest. A car is only necessary for those wishing to go down south or venture inland. We hired one for a week. A robust vehicle of the sort that Simon can provide is a good idea given the state and gradients of the minor roads! We were not disappointed with any of the local restaurants that we tried or places that we visited. Enjoy your time here: we did.
Francine and Simon were so welcoming and from the time Simon picked us up at the airport we felt at ease and the stresses of England just disappeared. Property was very spacious, comfortable and well maintained. Spent a few days without a car and enjoyed the walking but Simon and Francine always happy to offer a lift. They also arranged car hire for us which made our organisation of the holiday much easier - it arrived at the appartment and we dropped it off at the airport. Simon and Francine's tour of the local area on our first day was a superb introduction to the Rodney Bay/Pigeon Island/Gros Islet area. Just want to thank them again for making our stay special. Will recommend to friends and family and would love to return.
We spent two weeks at Blue Skies after looking at a few others on the internet, and we where not disappointed at all - such a great find ! Francine and Simon were superb hosts and couldn’t have done more to make our stay feel at home. Great apartment (we were in the 1 bedroom) – it’s really spacious and has all the mod cons you need. The pool is fab and is lit at night. We hired a jeep for a week and explored the island - got lost a number of times in those small villages which was interesting ! – you definitely need a jeep - a car will be wrecked as some of the roads aren’t great. We went on a boat trip - Mango Tango - this was great fun and also a rainforest canopy ride which was very interesting. Francine and Simon were great in being able to show us all the best places to go, and when we had to give the jeep back, being able to drop us down into Rodney bay area . Pigeon Island is a must to go and see by the way - great beach. There are some great restaurants down in the strip area - Fire Grill being our favourite. There is so much we could write as we had such a fab time ( I forgot to mention the helicopter transfer - well worth the money !) we will definitely go back again soon. St Lucia is a very lush island, so different to the others we had visited in the past - well recommended ! Thanks Francine and Simon - See you again Soon !!!
Accommodation and facilities are fantastic 1st class. Simon and Francine were very kind and were always at hand to assist. You definitely need a car as property is about 20 mins walk to Reduit Beach.
Would recommend this property for couples. Would NOT recommend this property to travellers who want to have fun. We are ladies in our forties and we were treated like school children and was told off for bringing our friends from England over for a cup of coffee one sunday morning at 10;30am...... You have to ask Simon/Francine for permission to have a guest come over!
Myself and my partner Tom visited St Lucia and stayed here for a fortnight.
The owners were friendly and helpful-offering us a tour of the local area to get the most out of are stay, and were always happy to help with any queries or just to have a nice chat, while never invading our privacy.
The property was well equipped, spacious and attractive, the bed was comfy, everything was spotless new and in full working order, which I never normally find on holiday!
The pool was wonderful and they also have a hot tub/jacuzzi which was great to relax in during the evening with a glass of wine!
They knew all the good restuarants and beaches to visit and the weather was so perfect. What more could you ask for?
This was our 2nd time to St. Lucia and we spent the second week of our holiday with Simon and Francine. Their local knowledge helped us to get to the beaches that the local people use and they were therefore less touristy which was fantastic for us. We also got to see a local cricket match because of Simon's knowledge and ability to identify our interests. They had the knack of being on hand whenever we needed them and out of sight if we were using the pool or hot tub! The accomodation was wonderful and was a very high standard. Our children are young (8 and 3) and they had a great time.
We are minutes away from Rodney Bay Mall, Marina, Reduit Beach, Gros Islet village the golf course, the racquet club, shops, supermarkets, restaurants and nightclubs as well as Pigeon Island National Trust Park, home to the St Lucia Jazz Festival, and Beausejour cricket ground which hosted the World Cup Semi-final.
A short walk takes you to the Rodney Bay Marina where you can hire a boat to go whale watching or deep sea fishing. Frequent buses leave from there and you can be in Castries in 15 minutes, or Gros Islet for the Friday Night Jump-up part in five.
Hire a car and visit The Pitons, marvel at the walk-in volcano and stroll through the old capital, Soufriere. Take a sedate airborne ride through the rainforest canopy or observe the exotic flora and fauna as you hurtle down a zip line.
St Lucia's beautiful beaches are ideal for windsurfing, sailing, kite surfing, water skiing and water biking.
