A note about internet:
This is a great place to disconnect! We have been unable to find a provider who can offer consistent service as we are in a narrow 'dead' zone. However, aircards do work well, and mobile phone access is good (particularly Verizon). Free Wi-Fi is available at Starbucks at Squaw Valley and other locations. Email us if you need more information.
The bedrooms are not accessible to wheelchairs due to all three of the bedrooms being located downstairs. However, the upstairs is fully accessible to wheelchairs, walkers, etc. There is a level wooden walkway that leads from the street to the main floor, which contains the kitchen, dining area, living area, deck and 1 full bathroom (though the bathroom is small). I have a friend in an electric wheelchair and she can access the upper floor with no problem.
• River Ranch offers full service bar and restaurant- located at junction of Alpine Meadows Rd and Hwy 89, from cabin
• Crest Café offers casual lunches, dinners and après-skiing happy hour-located at junction of Alpine Meadows Rd and Hwy 89, from cabin

• Pfieffer House offers traditional German food on Hwy 80 between Alpine Meadows Rd and Tahoe City about from cabin
The popular Five Lakes Trail, a moderately steep trail to five small high alpine lakes in the Granite Chief Wilderness, offers access to the Pacific Crest Trail for longer excursions or wilderness backpacking. The trailhead is a few hundred yards from the front door, heading toward the ski area on Alpine Meadows Road.
The Bear Creek Trail trail-head is located across the street from the Five Lakes trail-head and provides an easy hike down to Bear Creek and back up the hill to connect with the horse trails that traverse the base of Scott Creek.
Other recreational activities include mountain biking, horseback riding, tennis, golf, river rafting on the Truckee River in the summer; skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing in the winter at nearby Alpine Meadows or Squaw Valley. Lake Tahoe offers many water-based activities, including boating, kayaking, standup paddleboarding, jet-skiing, parasailing and fishing.

Beautiful Lake Tahoe offers many recreational activities, including paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, and fishing, along with lakefront beaches. Events are held almost every weekend at nearby Squaw Valley during the summer, and High Camp offers skating and swimming.
Year Purchased: 2000
About the owner: We are a professional couple from the Bay Area who met in the mountains and feel a passion for North Lake Tahoe. We love to backpack in the Granite Chief Wilderness behind the cabin, mountain bike on nearby trails and relax at the beach at beautiful, blue Lake Tahoe.
Why the Owner Chose Alpine Meadows, CA, USA:
The location on Alpine Meadows Road means we have easy access summer and winter, the views of Scott Peak and Alpine Meadows ski area are spectacular from the house and we love to step out of the house and be on wilderness trails within minutes. It's a short drive to Lake Tahoe, with stores and restaurants nearby. We've been skiing at Squaw Valley and Alpine for decades and have explored most of the back country trails in the surrounding area.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
The deck catches the afternoon sun so we enjoy relaxing with a book and a glass of wine. If we're lazy we'll take a walk around the neighborhood, while if we're more energetic we'll tackle the Five Lakes Trail. Horse stables are just down the street for those who like to ride. A river rafting outfit is located at the end of the road.
