Gather the family around for a meal at the table that seats eight.

A note about internet:

This is a great place to disconnect! We have been unable to find a provider who can offer consistent service as we are in a narrow 'dead' zone. However, cell access is good (particularly Verizon; ATT can be spotty). Free internet is available at Starbucks at Squaw Valley and other locations around town. Email us if you need more information.

Accessibility:

The bedrooms are not accessible to wheelchairs due to all three of the bedrooms being located downstairs. However, the upstairs is fully accessible to wheelchairs, walkers, etc. There is a level wooden walkway that leads from the street to the main floor, which contains the kitchen, dining area, living area, deck and 1 full bathroom (though the bathroom is small). I have a friend in an electric wheelchair and she can access the upper floor with no problem.

Nearby restaurants:

• River Ranch offers full service bar and restaurant- located at junction of Alpine Meadows Rd and Hwy 89, from cabin

• Crest Café offers casual lunches, dinners and après-skiing happy hour-located at junction of Alpine Meadows Rd and Hwy 89, from cabin

• Graham’s offers fine dining near Squaw Valley-located from cabin

• Pfieffer House offers traditional German food on Hwy 80 between Alpine Meadows Rd and Tahoe City about from cabin

Recreational opportunities:

The popular Five Lakes Trail, a moderately steep trail to five small high alpine lakes in the Granite Chief Wilderness, offers access to the Pacific Crest Trail for longer excursions or wilderness backpacking. The trailhead is a few hundred yards from the front door, heading toward the ski area on Alpine Meadows Road.

The Bear Creek Trail trail-head is located across the street from the Five Lakes trail-head and provides an easy hike down to Bear Creek and back up the hill to connect with the horse trails that traverse the base of Scott Creek.

Other recreational activities include mountain biking, horseback riding, tennis, golf, river rafting on the Truckee River in the summer; skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing in the winter at nearby Alpine Meadows or Squaw Valley. Lake Tahoe offers many water-based activities, including boating, kayaking, standup paddleboarding, jet-skiing, parasailing and fishing.

About Inga Aksamit

We are a professional couple from the Bay Area who met in the mountains and feel a passion for North Lake Tahoe. We love to backpack in the Granite Chief Wilderness behind the cabin, mountain bike on nearby trails and relax at the beach at beautiful, blue Lake Tahoe.

Inga Aksamit purchased this cabin in 2000

Why Inga Aksamit chose Lake Tahoe North Shore CA

The location on Alpine Meadows Road means we have easy access summer and winter, the views of Scott Peak and Alpine Meadows ski area are spectacular from the house and we love to step out of the house and be on wilderness trails within minutes. It's a short drive to Lake Tahoe, with stores and restaurants nearby. We've been skiing at Squaw Valley and Alpine for decades and have explored most of the back country trails in the surrounding area.

What makes this cabin unique

The deck catches the afternoon sun so we enjoy relaxing with a book and a glass of wine. If we're lazy we'll take a walk around the neighborhood, while if we're more energetic we'll tackle the Five Lakes Trail. Horse stables are just down the street for those who like to ride. A river rafting outfit is located at the end of the road.

Great location, well stocked house!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay a couple of weekends ago. The location of the cabin was close to Alpine, Squaw and a cute restaurant/bar right on the river. I was very impressed with how well stocked the house was with appliances, linens, etc. I can tell that the owners are very generous.

Owner's Response: We're so glad you enjoyed your stay. We also enjoy River Ranch--they have a great bar and the restaurant serves good food. The Crest Cafe across the street makes tasty paninis and other deli food, also right on the river. We hope you come back some time!

Fantastic Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Six life-long friends traveled to Lake Tahoe for our friend's son's wedding. We made the best decision to stay in this Cozy Cabin. The house was clean and neat, with enough space for us to be together - both inside and out. It is a great location - close to Tahoe City (where the wedding was), yet nestled in the peaceful mountains. We had a wonderful time, and would stay again if we ever get back to Tahoe.

Wonderful getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful stay here with my husband and adult daughter! The home was so comfortable-loved all the windows and the beautiful light they let in. We did the hike to Five Lakes, and later relaxed with a cocktail at River Ranch! Our daughter missed having internet (she only has limited data in her phone), but other than that, our stay was perfect-we plan to return!

Lake Tahoe has long been a bucket list item and I think it needs more than one check!

  • 5 of 5

The house is lovely. So appreciate the windows framing the beautiful view of the snow covered mountains, pine trees and aspen on fire with color. The wood stove, shelf of books and movies were perfect for waiting out the rain. We used the grill and well appointed kitchen to keep meals simple, yummy and inexpensive. Comfortable bed, hot shower and soft couches were a perfect place to rest our weary bodies after long hikes on the Tahoe Rim Trail. Thanks for sharing your home for our 30th wedding anniversary get away, Inga. You're a gracious hostess.

Owner's Response: I'm so glad you had a good time despite the early season storm that moved in. I was a little worried about that but it sounds like you snuggled in and enjoyed the tempest. Come again sometime!

Tahoe Tree-house Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Some friends agreed to accompany my wife and myself up to Tahoe for a few days to celebrate her birthday. My little sister lives close by, so she and my nephew drove up to meet us. The house itself was beautiful and clean, we especially appreciated all the extra linens and towels and the number of bathrooms (3!). My wife and I stayed in the Master suite and I loooooved the ensuite bath. I ended up soaking in that deep tub every night. I have a bad back and this kept me mobile enough to explore the area during the day.

We loved the location, the house is quite lovely, surrounded by trees and we really appreciated the thoroughness and detail that went into creating a binder with all the information we needed to enjoy the area. Our time there was so special! We never felt crowded, even with 5 adults and a toddler. ;) The little one was thrilled by the box of toys hidden away in one closet and everyone enjoyed the view from the deck.

Personally, I loved cooking in that open kitchen, it was well equipped, open, and spacious. Every time I mused, "I wonder if they have..." I always ended up finding just the thing I was seeking (waffle iron, electric mixer, coffee grinder)

I'd highly recommend this space for bigger groups. It was quite affordable once we all pitched in, and the common spaces were spacious and comfortable. It was close to loads of fun and lovely areas, we had drinks in squaw valley and some meals in Tahoe City. Walking through the neighborhood was lovely too, we drank in the fall colors and the smell of the earth and trees. Our larger group left on Monday, and my wife and I stayed a few extra days just us, so we ended up getting to experience the space differently. It was big enough to accommodate our larger group, but cozy enough that we didn't feel lost just the two of us.

All in all, it was a wonderful fall getaway and truly impressive birthday. ;) I wowed the lady with my waffle recipe and we had mimosas in the dappled morning light. TY so much for everything!

Owner's Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed the cabin and found everything you needed. We use the cabin ourselves so we like to stock it with all the things we like to have around. I agree, I love soaking in that deep tub. We hope you come again.
