About Shawn Meyers

Robin and Shawn Meyers live in Oklahoma City. Dr. Meyers is a minister, professor and author. His wife Shawn is an artist and a member of the art faculty at the University of Central Oklahoma. Robin and Shawn honeymooned in Green Mountain Falls in 1976, and have vacationed here with their children for 42 years. The Diamond Bar was originally purchased by Shawn's grandmother in the 1940's. They have come to love this place as one of the most peaceful and restorative places on earth. Now they invite you to bring your family and discover what make this such a special place.

Shawn Meyers purchased this cabin in 1948

Why Shawn Meyers chose Green Mountain Falls

Green Mountain Falls is the town that time forgot. It has a Norman Rockwell quality to it. There are plenty of things to do, but the best thing might be to do nothing at all. Fish, hike, read a book, listen to a mountain stream and the sudden crackle of an afternoon thunderstorm. Life in GMF is beautifully slow. This is as peaceful as it gets.

What makes this cabin unique

Green Mountain Falls is becoming an arts community, and every summer hosts the Green Box Arts Festival. There are visiting artists, workshops, a major installation by a well-known artist, cooking classes, and special events for children. Hikers are discovering GMF as a place with dozens of marked and maintained trails, and the fishing is always good in the lake with its signature Victorian gazebo. Summer concerts, weddings, antique car shows, and other activities are numerous, and the Pantry is world famous for breakfast! Green Mountain Falls is uniquely situated to enjoy peace and quiet, but located only ten minutes from Woodland Park, and only 20 minutes from Colorado Springs. The Pike's Peak Region, with all its attractions, is at your door.

The Diamond Bar is a 'screen free' mountain cabin nestled in one of America's most charming towns. It has all the important amenities, but there is no television set, entertainment center, or video game console. This is not an oversight, but a deliberate choice on the part of the owners. It is our intention that when folks come to the mountains for a vacation, they can do other, more enjoyable things as a family. Perhaps read books, work puzzles, play board games (provided), cook meals together, fish, hike the local trails, even talk to one another! There are a million fun things to do in the Pike's Peak region. Of course, if there is a big game, you can always catch it at the local bar, where they have a big screen, and serve great pizza and wings!

A gem of a cabin!

  • 5 of 5

This place was fabulous for our family of 5. It's very quaint with a 1950s feel. I love the rustic look of the place and all the personal touches from the owner's family. It just feels so homey. Green Mountain Falls is a great little town--the musical swings in town were one of the unexpected highlights of our trip!

Beautiful views and great physical location.

  • 5 of 5

Robin and Shawn are very nice. The property was in a great location for us and also provided wonderful views. The wildlife was a wonderful addition. We also really enjoyed the hummingbirds. It was nice to be disconnected. We would stay again if and when we return to the area.

Wonderful family vacation

  • 5 of 5

The setting of the cabin is magical in the trees on a mountain with a great stream/ falls just up the street. Lots of hiking around. Very peaceful for a much needed recharge. The cabin itself is exactly what you would expect in the mountains no frills and functional. The various outdoor patios are great. Colorado Springs and activities are easily accessible -just a short drive. The location is a few minutes from the pikes peak highway.

Great cabin for our family vacation! Close to every attraction we wanted to go to. We saw wildlife every day deer, fox, and even a bear in the front yard! Each room has a good view for seeing the wildlife. The kids loved the yard, we could of used more kid games but they did find “Sorry” and had fun playing that in the evening time. Would definitely come back here.

Peaceful and relaxing

  • 4 of 5

Diamond Bar was perfect for our family of 6 to unplug. Our kids ages 23, 20, 16 and 11 gave us grief at first about no internet or tv but quickly adjusted and had fun playing cards, board games and just having good old conversations. We hiked the Thomas Trail and the scenery was absolutely breathtaking with two waterfalls. The trail head was just up the road and it brought us out on the other side of town. Green Mountain Falls is very close to all the popular attractions down 24 and up 24 for anything needed at Wal-Mart. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Amazing desination

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here during our family vacation to the Colorado Springs area and could not have been happier. The cabin was just what we were looking for, the host was great to deal with, and we would highly recommend it. The size and amenities were very inviting. Outside, we had the ability to relax, hike, view wildlife, and take it all in. Close enough to all we wanted to see yet removed enough to enjoy ourselves.
