This property is perfect for a large groups - family reunions, 2-3 families vacationing together, small weddings, girls weekends, scrapbooking or quilting clubs and more!

Windows abound with views of Mt. Baker and the Canadian Cascade mountain range. Watch the moon rise over the water (wide views of Hales Passage.) Catch a peek of the ferry gliding by! Enjoy the water without worrying about young kids accessing the beach unexpectedly.

Why Lummi when there are so many wonderful San Juan Islands? Lummi Island is the most accessible, with a relatively inexpensive ferry that runs 1-3 times/hour. No long lines! Day trips to Vancouver, Seattle and Bellingham are easy. Lummi Island is the smallest of the islands served by a public ferry (approximately 900 residents). There are fewer seasonal visitors, allowing Lummi to maintain it’s island charm, without feeling crowded or “touristy.”

The special thing about this home and island location is its family-friendly nature. Multi-generational groups frequently stay with us and find that it is perfect for everyone's needs.

It is easy to relax on the deck, enjoy the view and supervise the kids in the playhouse & yard at the same time.

Pastimes are varied. There are games, toys and books appealing to all ages. Adults enjoy wine tasting at two locations on the island (Legoe Bay Winery and Artisan Wine Gallery.)

The house is located in the center of the island, only 0.2 miles from the school, where one will find the soccer field, tennis court, basketball court and playground. Three public beaches are within walking distance (0.4 miles, 1.2 miles and approx. 3 miles respectively). The ferry landing, library, restaurants, Saturday Market and small store are only 0.6 miles away.

You will be on 'island time', so plan for lots of relaxation. Enjoy happy hour on the sunny 750 square foot deck, complete with an eight-person hot tub. After the sun goes down, go inside and prepare dinner in the large gourmet kitchen (stocked with all the cooking/baking basics.) Five friends can keep you company at the island, where they can visit, yet keep out of the way of the cook!

In the morning, either sleep late (black out curtains in three of the four bedrooms), go out for a walk on the Curry Nature Preserve only moments from the front door, or drink your coffee watching the sun rise over Mt. Baker.

Bedrooms are located far from living spaces so napping family members can sleep peacefully while the rest of the group enjoys the day.

This home features a state of the art whole-house water treatment system. This is a must for homes on wells, like all are on Lummi Island.

We make it a priority to keep the house in pristine condition - immaculate with everything in good working order. The house is elegant with a comfortable country flair.

We are long-time residents of Lummi Island. When our children reached an age they needed to be closer to school activities, we moved to town. Lummi Island is magical and beautiful; we couldn't bear to part with the house when we moved. We still escape to the island to play and unwind, and we invite friends to enjoy the island with us.

We've tried to make this house feel more like a home, and less like a generic vacation rental. While it is pragmatic to keep vacation rentals simple, with fewer items to clean, repair or replace, it can result in a 'sterile' environment. There are many little touches around this home, lending it personality. Some included and unexpected items are practical, like band-aids and office supplies, while others are whimsical, like plants in antique teacups and hummingbird nests.

This large home easily accommodates 14 people. There are four bedrooms, & a large "bump-out" dormer. (A small space outside of the bedrooms, to the side of the hallway with a comfortable full-size futon, a window with a spectacular view & a screen for privacy.) Outdoor living is one of the highlights of this property. Enjoy the 750-square foot deck with an 8-person hot tub w/ views of the mountains and water in two directions. The fire-pit is surrounded by eight acres. Cook over the fire or use the large Weber gas BBQ grill to dish up some summer meals at the 10-person outdoor harvest table. There are walls of windows in the house, and even while sitting inside, one gets the feeling of being outdoors. The Canadian Cascades and Mt. Baker are visible over Hales Passage and the waters of the Salish Sea. The sunrise over Mt. Baker is can be seen from the comfort of the living room and the filtered sun warms the deck in the afternoon.

Wonderful home with a great host

Thank you Kjerstin for letting us stay it your room. It was perfect for us! We had 11 people and everyone was comfortable. It had a very homey feel. Kjerstin knew we has a toddler coming so she had toys set out for him, which was very thoughtful. I would definitely stay again and recommend to family and friends!

Great house

We had a great stay. The kids loved the play house in the backyard and their room upstairs with four single beds and a little hideaway. Everything was clean and nicely decorated. Great open kitchen area. Lots of room to spread out in living room areas and back porch. This was our second time in Lummi island and we love it. It is very laid back and we had a great time walking on the beach or hiking a couple of trails.

Perfect family vacation!

A beautiful setting - large yard, with Rainier looming in the distance. Perfect for children - owner Kjerstin provided many toys, games and amenities for the little ones - a playhouse in the back yard replete with kitchen items for cooking and serving the adults, and even a mailbox! Deer visited in the evenings, much to the delight of the little ones. And now for the big ones - a hot tub provided a respite and relaxation in the evenings. The (adult) kitchen was equipped with almost all one would need - I even found EVERY spice and seasoning I need for my multi-ingredient chili and pasta sauce recipes! The master bathroom included both a hair dryer AND a curling iron! Kjerstin truly pays much attention to details. Nearby, hikes, walks to the beach, and abundant blackberry picking, again, much to the little ones' delight. Trips to the local - and only - country store - revealed the locals to be extremely down-to-earth, friendly and helpful. Owner was very accessible and concerned that our needs were met. One caveat: we had a child become ill, and had brought no thermometer or children's pain reliever. And none could be found on the island, so we had to take him to the mainland for medical assistance. So, if you bring young children, prepare for the worst, just in case!

Spacious and nice country feel

There were nine of us and we had no issue with space. My younger children, ages twelve and ten, enjoyed collecting eggs from the chickens and walking to the Curry Preserve to pick blackberries, using the hot tub, and making camp fires for s'mores. The kitchen was well equipped and got a lot of use. Be sure to stock up since food options are limited on the island. The Baker Preserve, just south, feels like a scene from Jurassic Park and is worth a visit for the 1.5 mile hike.

A family vacation dream home...

We absolutely adored our stay on Lummi Island and this was in large part due to Kjerstin and her wonderful property. We had four families (7 adults, 4 children) stay on the property and it easily accommodated all of us. The outdoor area was amazing, we spent most of our time outside, the children were able to run around, play in the playhouse or feed the chickens (which was definitely a popular activity). We did not use the hot tub but it looked really inviting.

Kjerstin herself was amazing, before we arrived we had a lot questions around things to do on the island and she provided a ton of options for us. She met us upon arrival and walked us through the property. She also baby proofed the house prior to our arrival, which with 3 kids under 3 was extremely helpful.

I can't say enough about this property, if you are looking for a place for your family this is the place to stay. The ferry ride from Bellingham is also very short less then 10 minutes. We will definitely be returning in the future. Thank you for making our family reunion unforgettable!

Charming, nicely decorated, comfortable Mutli-Family Retreat Home

The home was very clean, beautifully decorated and stocked with all the amenities needed for a nice getaway. The property was large, private, and many things for the kids to do with a basketball hoop, badminton, hot tub, and feeding the chickens. A lot room for running and playing. A short walk takes you down to the Beach Store Cafe. Yummy food, and good beer. Next to that was the Saturday Market, library and a book sale. Needless to say, we had fun walking back with our new treasures. Visited the island beaches and hikes. Over all it was a nice, peaceful place to relax and spend time with friends and family.
