Overview

About the property

Cottage, 3 Bedrooms, 3 bath

Maximum Occupancy is 6 people.

Due to allergies we will except NON Shedding Dogs only

This Ottawa Valley Cottage rental has spectacular views from the deck overlooking 420ft lake front, on Round Lake. (note that google maps shows we are on Bonnechere River: this is not correct we are on the lake) The property is wooded with red pine, white pine and poplar. With southwest exposure you have sun all day long and great sunsets.

The cottage has one master bedroom with half bath and a King size bed. A second bedroom with a bunkbed. A third bedroom with a Queen size bed. A breezeway room relaxing with a couch and entertainment unit. A basement bedroom with a futon couch and entertainment area. The cottage is well stocked with games, toys and movies for all ages. Including a Wii. A large deck with table and 8 chairs, 2 lounge chairs and access to the lake front.

The lake access has stone and wooden steps leading to a large swim dock with a swim ladder. The shoreline is rocky but the lake is hard sand with scattered rocks. Visiblity is very high and no weeds. A firepit is located by the edge of the lake for you enjoyment.

We have canoes with life jackets and paddles available for rental at a rate of $ 75.00 each per week.

We have kayaks with lifejackets and paddle available for rental at a rate of $ 50.00 each per week

Round Lake is three miles by seven miles wide and around 90 feet deep. Water visibility is high, as the lake is fed from springs from adjacent Algonquin Park. One of the finest fishing lakes in The Ottawa Valley and by most standards the largest and most popular lake in a 60 mile radius. Round Lake was stocked with lake trout in the fall of 2012. Killaloe is the nearest town, eight miles away, and provides a bank, LCBO, grocery store, restaurant and chipstand.

You are about 3000 feet from Foy Provincial Park which has the nicest sand beach on the lake. It is no charge to enter the park and use the beach and hiking trails, as no camping or overnight is allowed. Wolf Ridge Golf Course is a 18 hole course within a 15 minute drive from the Cottage.

During the Winter you have access to hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails from your doorstep, as well as ice fishing, cross country skiing and snowshoeing.

The list of things to do in the area is, frankly, amazing. There is a place where you can get away, but still absorb the Canadian experience. See our other cottage property on Round Lake from the link at the end of the listing.

If you are looking for a place to get away with the family or your significant other, your senses will be satisfied.

About Nancy Gavin

My husband is from Texas and I am from Ottawa. We have two boys 13 and 16. We have two homes on Round Lake. We love to travel with our boys and discover new places. Round Lake is our sanctuary and we enjoy the wonderful sunsets and views from the great room. We look forward to spending our evenings around the firepit making smores, telling stories and singing camp songs. We hope you can create some family memories of your own at our cottage.

Nancy Gavin purchased this cottage in 2003

Why Nancy Gavin chose Quebec

I grew up spending my summers on Round Lake. My parents retired here and most of my siblings have bought property here as well. We love the community, it is a very eclectic area. Lot of music, art and local talent. Festivals, farmers markets and fishing derbys. People here are friendly with a strong sense of community. We have recently moved to Pembroke and have made our home on Round Lake available year round. We can offer all kinds of suggestions for outings in the area as well as leave a fully stocked binder of brochures and maps for you to plan your week. (or just stay on the deck and enjoy the lake and sunsets)

What makes this cottage unique

The lake is always changing. Some days it is calm, others a wind comes up and the waves can be like the ocean. I find that we have very few bugs as we are on the windy side of the lake. With South West exposure you can enjoy the sun most of the day and watch the sunset in the evening. The deck is very private and this lake has very few boats so it is quiet. I enjoy a morning walk to Foy Provincial Park with my dog. I walk down the beach and through the hiking trail. (about 1.5 miles round trip). The park is closed so usually it is empty in the mornings. It is a magical place. Our kids are happy to share their movies, games, books and toys with your children. We leave the cottage stocked with books, games, magazines and movies for your enjoyment.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Nancy was very helpful with clear instructions. The cottage was beautiful, with a well equipped kitchen, and gorgeous surroundings. I brought my work colleagues up here for couple of days outside of the city, and we were very happy with the experience. Wonderful place, highly recommend it!

Wonderful experience for the second

I had a great time with my family there. It was my second time there and everything were perfect. Stunning view of the lake from the cottage plus relaxing silence made my vacation ever memorable.

Another Stellar Summer Vacation on Round Lake

  • 5 of 5

This was our 4th Summer on Round Lake and it was just as wonderful as previous years. This year, we stopped at the Eganville Farmers' Market on our way into town on the Friday. It is small but interesting and there were farm animals on display that day!

We also took in a late lunch at the Wilno Tavern - a must see for those who enjoy cabbage rolls and perogies - reservations are recommended!!

The cottage provides wonderful access for swimming and kayaking. In addition, the view of the sunset, either from the deck or the dock, is spectacular!

Another summer for the books.

Beautiful Cottage!!

  • 5 of 5

Loved the cottage the photos dont do it justice. It was very comfortable. Rained throughout the weekend but there were plenty of movies and a wii. Managed to make it out on the dock to fish (lake seemed well stocked with fish). Swimming off the dock was nice there werent any weeds. All the main rooms have amazing views of the lake. Overall amazing atmosphere. Great time highly recommend.

Lovely property with a great view

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. The house was well equipped, clean and a good size. The only difficulty we had was that the dock and island in the pictures had not been set up for the summer yet (despite it being June). This made swimming quite difficult and we ended up having to drive a short distance to go in the lake rather than be able to go from the house as we imagined.

Owner's Response: Unfortunately due to the flooding this spring our dock installer was over 100 docks behind. The high waters delayed installations. We would normally have our dock set up in early June. Mother nature intervened.
