Perfect peaceful getaway

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a blissful couple of days at Highwater House. The place is stunning - beautifully built, impeccably furnished, and set in a little piece of heaven. This was just the getaway we needed. Haawa to Danny and Nika for your hospitality ♥️

This place is unreal! We stayed here in February and we were completely blown away. It feels like you've stepped into a beautiful, peaceful spa that is a million miles away from the busy world. There are views of the beach and ocean from every angle of the house. We were even lucky enough to see the Aurora Borealis on our first night there! The pictures on the website are great, but even they can't capture the beauty of the place and the surroundings. The sound of the waves rolling in at night or the morning is also amazing. You have access to endless miles of beach from your doorstep!

The kitchen is very well stocked with essentials, including a BBQ on the back porch. We were there in the winter and most restaurants were closed, but we bought the most amazing fresh fish from Haida Wild at Masset Grocery everyday and had amazing home-cooked meals! The house heats up quickly with a propane-wood stove/fireplace, but also ventilates very well with ample windows that open.

Haida Gwaii in general is a secret gem of unimaginable natural beauty, and so is Highwater House! We can't wait to come back.

Relaxing get-away

  • 4 of 5

Loved: location, bird viewing, sunsets, bathtub, on grid, property manager (Brenda was very helpful and friendly) large windows, mood lighting, pet friendly, clean, loft bed very comfortable, loft window=waking up to crashing ocean waves.

Improvements: water very salty could only use water cooler for drinking and cooking

Kitchen pots and pans need to be updated/replaced along with kitchen tools (garlic press, cheese grater, coffee maker) have to go outside to access bathroom, staircase too steep for dogs to access upstairs loft, BBQ accessories needed (lighter, flippers etc.)

Overall pleasant experience, would recommend and would stay again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for this review! We're happy that your stay was so enjoyable and your improvements have been duly noted. Where we're sorry your dogs had trouble climbing the loft stairs it's worth pointing out that the loft and it's staircase were not designed with dogs in mind. If we have you as a guest again in the future remember there is always the deluxe queen sized pull out bed in the living room if sleeping close to your dogs is important. And just for the sake of clarity for others reading, the bathroom is in fact connected to the main house and accessed via the covered back deck. It is not an out building in any way as some inquiries have wondered. Thanks so much and hope to see you again soon! All the best, Danny Robertson
