It's all about the perfect location ......whether your vacation to Santa Fe is for relaxing in this mountain setting, exploring this historical city, shopping this famous art market or simply discovering the Santa Fe mystique, you’ve picked the perfect home for your vacation time or short term rental… true Santa Fe historical style and only blocks from everything! The historical Plaza is 10 blocks away, The new Rail Yard district is 5 blocks away, the famous Farmers Market is 6 blocks away and there are 22 restaurants within a 5 block radius. Please look over our reviews ...see what our guest have to say !!

Our home is located in the historical Guadalupe district of central Santa Fe. Just blocks from the heart of the Santa Fe Plaza district, two blocks to Sambusco Center / The Rail Yard and close to coffee shops, boutiques and restaurants of all flavors! Our summer evening strolls include the art rich Canyon Road or after hours window shopping with finishing off our ice cream cone. Mountain hiking or skiing on your agenda …head up Artists Road and in 15 to 20 minutes the trails are yours for the choosing. Our home is a cozy 1400 sq foot, 2 bedroom, 2 full baths historical adobe that is full of art and our collection of Santa Fe “must haves”. Your stay will be relaxing in this environment influenced by our appreciation of the Native American and Spanish history of the area.

This private home is surrounded by adobe walls for a serene, magical garden setting. Plenty of seating, in fact I have hosted many parties that include dozens of happy revelers! There is a gas grill, a wonderful fountain and a large outdoor kiva fireplace to complete the ambiance.

The two bedrooms are very well appointed with lovely linens, ceiling fans and intimate lighting. Each bedroom has it's own connected bath and the bedrooms are in separate areas so there is great privacy even inside the house. As well, there are two separate patio areas so just in case someone of your party is napping in the shade in one, you can enjoy the other one!

Two off-street parking spaces are provided at the door .... parking is a prize in this historical town of narrow winding streets. Most of our guests are delighted that they can walk to most 'every thing' ..check out the referrals below.

About Jeannine

As an avid SantaFean, the farmers market, art festivals, flea market and great outdoors are a focus in my life. I have a great dogs and Abby and I love to hike to nearby trails. I do travel some weekly on business and returning to the high desert is always a delight.

Jeannine purchased this house in 1998

Why Jeannine chose Santa Fe

This home is the perfect location for enjoying all of the amazing events and atmosphere of Santa Fe. With 2-3 blocks access to the Rail Yard, Sambusco Market, down town and even Canyon road, this location is perfect for visitors.

What makes this house unique

There are two courtyards at my home. Both include a fountain, statues and the back courtyard has a kiva fire place, covered area, banco seating and lovely dining area. With large trees, the walled courtyard provides compete privacy and creates a sanctuary for birds and humans! The Santa Fe River is steps from the house and perfect for dog walks and bird watching.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This house felt like a real experience of Santa Fe. The neighborhood has several historical homes and we really felt like we were walking back in time. It's location is also at the heart of the old city, we walked to everything. The Rail Yard is where the Farmers Market is located and that was just a great morning and the flea market across the way. We easily walked downtown for all the sights. The house is decorated so well and is so comfortable. We really liked the heated bathroom floor! The kitchen had everything we needed and the dishes are really fun and colorful. We will be back.

We had a wonderful time. It's a great rental.

We have rented happily at 540 Alto Street for many months at a time on successive years. We loved it! Jeannine is a very responsive and delightful landlady. The home is well stocked, particularly the kitchen which has beautiful dishware, plenty of cabinet space and lovely views to the outdoor patios and outdoor fireplace. Because of the surrounding adobe walled courtyard, it is a very quiet home, despite being close to the Guadalupe/Railyard District and the Plaza. Very dog friendly! We spent many very enjoyable times in this convenient and fascinating neighborhood, and entertained frequently. All our guests loved being there.

Great stay

  • 5 of 5

House was comfortable for myself and my two teenage boys. Allowed us to save money on food and lodging. Easy walk to town. Quiet and we felt safe there. My only issue was the back bedroom was very warm. Hot spell in New Mexico and we had no way to turn off the pilot light on the wood stove in the room which heated things up quite a bit. Otherwise I would gladly return to this lovely home!

Owner's Response: Oh! I hate that you were uncomfortable in that bedroom. I wish you had called us and gotten directions for turning that pilot light off! If you visit again and would like to stay with us, let's talk and we'll work something out! Thank you for your review, it does help us improve. Now I will put directions for turning that off in the "Where Things are List"

Visiting Santa Fe

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful house!! It's both cozy AND roomy! All the amenities you would want. Beautifully decorated with artwork and trinkets. Even the everyday items seemed to have a design eye used in their choosing! Master Bath is awesome! Heated floor and natural light. Incredible location. A short walk from the Plaza which is where you want to go in Santa Fe. Will definitely be staying again next time we're in Santa Fe! Thank you for making your wonderful home available to others to experience!!

Spring Break in Santa Fe

What a great place-close to everything. Very cozy with eclectic decor. Wonderful for 3 people or 4. Parking a plus though a tight squeeze for 2 vehicles.

We loved it

  • 5 of 5

The house was great. This was our first VRBO and thank goodness it went off without a hitch, and our friends loved the house too. Great location--we walked to the rail yard to watch March Madness games at the Junction (the house's direct TV didn't have TBS or TNT or Tru TV). We also walked to the Georgia O'Keefe museum and the farmers market (also at the rail yard). The house has everything you need--wine glasses, cork puller, coffee, coffee cups--and we cooked pasta one night and had everything we needed. The best part of the house is the outside space which leads off the kitchen. We spent ALL of our time outside or in the kitchen (that's where the TV is).

Only two suggestions--add to your instructions what you want guests to do with the ashes from the fireplace, and add one more bar stool so 4 guests can sit at the island comfortably.

WIFI worked GREAT. We watched some of the games on our computers live streaming without a glitch.

Would rent this house again in a heartbeat. The owner was VERY easy to work with. Thanks!

Comfortable House, Great Location

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed staying at this house for a recent ski trip. The location was excellent and we took advantage of this by walking to the nearby plaza and railyard areas. We loved the heated floor in the master bathroom and all the rooms were warm and cozy. It was just the right amount of space for our family to spread out and relax. The parking space is a little tight and our four-door sedan fit but just barely! Since we like having big breakfasts before we go off to ski it would have been nice to have a dishwasher in the kitchen, but otherwise we were very comfortable. Thanks!
