About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms + Loft, 3 Baths

********* We will begin accepting reservation requests for 2018 in February, 2018 after we determine our family 2018 schedule. *********

From mid-June through August, we accept full-week, Sunday-to-Sunday rentals only.

Our lakeside log home is our family's vacation home that we rent to guests 2 or 3 weeks each year. It is about 25 feet from the waterfront of Smith Mountain Lake, the 'Jewel of the Blue Ridge Mountains', and has a large dock and party deck. Built in 2004, it has 4 bedrooms, 3 baths and over 3,000 sq. ft. of living space.

Our house has a covered porch and multiple decks. The main level is open and airy with a large dining table (pine harvest table that seats up to 10) and living area that is open to the kitchen area. The loft area is great for board games or quiet relaxation and has a bedroom and private bath. The large basement is predominantly above grade and has lots of natural light from the many windows. It contains a ping pong table, additional TV with surround sound, a laundry room, a bunk room, and a full bath. The quiet cove is great for swimming and water sports.

The property is convenient by water or car to restaurants, shops, miniature golf, an arcade, movie theatre, vineyards and wineries, and museums - D-Day WWII Memorial (Bedford, 30 mins), Booker T. Washington (Moneta), Transportation, Science, Tubman Museum of Art (Roanoke, 45 mins), and Mill Mountain Zoo on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Convenient hiking and sightseeing at SML State Park and National Parks on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Loved our time at Smith Mountain Lake

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful time at Smith Mountain Lake in such a great and beautiful log cabin home. The cabin itself was like a home away from home - well cared for, spacious with all the amenities, great access to the lake, very nice private dock, and even a canoe and kayak as an added bonus to explore the nearby coves. Some of our favorite things included simply floating in the water near the dock, early morning coffee on the upper deck within the tree canopy, and chilling-out playing games in the main living room area. Oh, and having no wifi was actually a real positive, forcing the kids and parents to "unplug" and better appreciate our time together. We hope to make this a new family summer tradition - thanks so much for sharing your home with us.

Wonderful Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

We wanted a place to stay that we could celebrate my son graduation from Virginia Tech. This home is beautiful and far exceeded our expectations. The log home is spacious and the eating area and kitchen is all open which is perfect for a large group. The basement is large and has a nice area to hang out in or play ping pong. We did both. It was a wonderful place to be with family and because no WiFi we were all able to unplug. The lake is beautiful and some even ventured in the canoe. Thanks for opening your home for others to enjoy. We hope to be back sooner than later.

Great house, no wifi

  • 4 of 5

The house was great. Plenty of room for our group (4 adults, 2 teenagers and 3 younger kids). It was clean and had everything we needed. However, the wifi doesn't allow streaming and really didn't even allow us to simply check email. The cell service was also non existent. If you want to unplug with the family, it's perfect. If you need to use wifi for work or any other reason, it would not work.

Owner's Response: Thanks for using our home. It is most definitely for unplugging and getting away. There is no internet provider service in our area of the lake and the limited wifi that we provide is based on Verizon cell service. Parties who require internet access should really look elsewhere on the lake. Guests with Verizon mobile devices generally don't have difficulty getting email and accessing the internet, however, as you say, AT&T service is "non-existent". I hope that the lack of internet access didn't cause too much disruption though as a parent of two teens myself, I suspect that they were not very happy campers.....

Excellent choice!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful log cabin home. It is even better than pictured! The home is spotless and is decorated with a rustic look that perfectly matches the cozy log home style. The loft bedroom was perfect for our three children with a door separating the bedroom from their very own lounging area with lots of board games and extra space. The ping pong table and two separate family rooms with flat screen TVs and a large DVD assortment also provided plenty of indoor fun. The dock is easily accessible and includes a large canoe and kayak, and the home is in a location convenient to the busy Hales Ford Bridge area with restaurants and boat rentals. I would highly recommend! The owner was also very attentive. Thank you!

Perfect home for a relaxing visit!

  • 5 of 5

The log cabin is very clean and comfortable. It was plenty of space for our family of six with room to spare. The lake is pristine and we fished right off the dock. Kids had a great time at the cabin. Lots of fun activities nearby too. We also enjoyed walking through the neighborhood. It is not too busy or crowded.
