Great location, very private and still very close to the beach

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time, I think the location so close to the beach that our girls (ages 8, 11, 12) could go by themselfs up and down was geat and at the same time it's very private and quite.... This is really a unique thing in the very busy Cinque Terre.... The department is nicely furnished, very much in line with the style of the house, we loved the high seelings and enyojed a lot the terrace. Gabriella and her husband were great, all worked out perfect, can defenetly recomend this place....

Another wonderful stay in this beautiful villa.

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay in this beautiful villa in Monterosso. Again it did not disappoint. As usual, Daniella, the property manager was accommodating and always promptly available to answer any questions or solve any problems. The villa is older and historic with the all the ambiance and charm we expected. It is in a beautiful park-like setting. The kitchen is tiny but well-equipped. The location and views are spectacular. It is about 3-4 blocks from the train station which made it convenient to take day trips to Florence, Lucca and Pisa.

Delightful stay in charming villa with fabulous views

  • 4 of 5

Our party of 6 had a marvelous time in Cinque Terre and our host, Daniella was absolutely delightful to work with. Her communications were prompt and helpful from start to finish and we also found her comments/recommendations about places around the town itself (restaurants, stores, etc.) to be spot on! The villa met all of our needs, was in a great location, and was exactly as advertised on the website. We enjoyed the view from the terrace and definitely utilized the washing machine as our stay came halfway through our two week trip. There were 2 small items that prevent me from rating the villa as a 5 star experience and that is 1) the wifi issue that has been previously mentioned (I actually kind of liked that the kids kept getting cut off, but I needed it to confirm/communicate other parts of our journey so it was a bit challenging at times) and 2) as has been noted, the house doesn't have A/C and in order to keep cool enough at night, one needs to keep the windows open. Unfortunately, as is typical in Europe, there aren't any window screens and we all got snacked on fairly heavily by mosquitoes which left us itchy the remainder of our trip. Otherwise, the villa is wonderful, as is Daniella!

Beautiful Villa

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful old villa on a gorgeously landscaped property. And the location is excellent. Two things that prevent a 5-star rating. First and most important, the home does not have A/C. We were in Monterosso in the middle of June and even with the widows and doors open, the home got uncomfortably hot at times during the day and the evening. Second, the water from the tap is not drinkable. You will have to buy bottled water.

Lovely Oasis for seven gals !

  • 5 of 5

Months prior to our visit, I had emailed Daniella to find a villa large enough to sleep seven women. She recommended this villa, and it was perfect, as she said. Three of us shared the large master room- with its king sized bed and comfortable sleeper sofa. The others share the two twin rooms. All slept well. Loved the birds in the morning, but you may need ear plugs :).

We enjoyed the outside patio and twice cooked a light dinner which we ate at the large outdoor table. The small market at the foot of our hill was the place to buy delicious dinner supplies as well as wine. The bakery a few doors down, was our go to each morning to get sandwiches on homemade foccacia bread, for our daily hikes. Daniella met us at the train station and walked us to the villa, showing us these places and recommending others on the way.

After hiking most days we took a dip in the sea- a 3 min walk. It got festively crowded on the weekend!

The washing machine was MOST appreciated. Some of us had been travelling for two weeks before arriving. Clothes dried quite quickly on the rack outside!

One wrinkle was the finicky wifi -which Daniella, her husband and the owners struggled to make consistently work. I regret having to put them to this task- but we all depended on wifi for our US communications. They finally were successful and their efforts most appreciated!

The privacy, peace and comfort of this lovely setting was so appreciated at the end of a long hot day, hiking and exploring the crowded (but charming) villages of Cinque Terre!

Thank you Daniella !

Tips for hikers: 1-Look carefully at the topo map. Often the direction is easier one way than another. Often it is better to go south to north on the trail.

2-Take the train to Manarola, then shuttle to Volastra for a trek to Corniglia. You will bypass a horrendous climb. This was our most beautiful stretch!
