I'm an Italian American living happily here in Monterosso for the last 12 years. I really enjoy
sharing my experiences of living here with my guests. I'm happy to act as your 'guide' during your stay here.
You can get a sense of history by staying here. The mature trees and greenerey, It's like living in a wonderful park setting. The views from every corner, the lovely surrounding homes, all give a perfect balance of beauty and tranquility and the location is perfect, close to everything you could desire.
We recently returned from a fantastic 6 night stay at Casa Chiara in Monterosso. Our group of 5 spent a lot of time sitting out on the front terrace enjoying the views and activities of the village below. The house is big enough for 6 people easily, with all of the bedrooms being very spacious and the kitchen providing more than enough of the essentials for groups much larger in size. The house was very clean, and well equipped with everything we needed for our stay, including laundry detergent, kitchen staples and beach towels – it felt like home. As others have stated Danielle was great to work with and was a very welcome sight at the train station upon arrival (she also assisted with our bags up the hill); on the way to the house she pointed out a few of her favorite restaurants and grocery stores in Monterosso, and the ones we tried were first rate (we didn’t try all of them because we found a couple of them to be so good we didn’t want to try anything new!). During our stay at Monterosso we visited the other four fishing villages and unanimously were very happy with our decision to stay in Monterosso as it provided a little more variety in all things (restaurants, accommodation and shops) than the other much smaller towns lacked – including space for all of the day trippers! We will definitely come back to Monterosso one day and if it is available would stay at Casa Chiara again without any hesitation.
Overall, this location was perfect for or family vacation.
* The views of the beach, mountains, and ocean could be seen from every window
* It was super nice to se Daniella waIting for us at the train station- especially after a long day of travel
* Lots of room - everyone had their own bedroom
* Lots of history and charm in the villa
* Location to everything - train station, trails, beach...
* A big long hill up to the villa was difficult to bring luggage, but not a big deal
Thank you Daniella for making our vacation great!
We've stayed in Vernazza previously, but this trip we needed a larger apartment. Wow, SO glad we did because this apartment was perfect. There were three couples in our party and we had plenty of room. Absolutely charming apartment with gorgeous views. The terrace was awesome for morning coffee or evening wine. Daniella was a joy, attentive and friendly. We actually liked Monterosso for a base in the Cinque Terre more than Vernazza. Plenty to explore, lots of great restaurants. (Daniella recommended Il Gigante, a little beach restaurant at the foot of the hill to the apartment. We ate a nice big American breakfast there two days and it was delicious!!! And right on the beach, doesn't get much better.
Our party of 7 had the pleasure of staying in this perfectly located home for Easter Weekend 2016. We had been to Cinque Terre previously and loved it; this property only made it better!
First of all, you will not find a more professional or friendly manager than Daniella. When we arrived in our 9 passenger van in Monterosso, our phones were not providing very good service. Daniella literally found us on the street and personally escorted us to the property. She managed to get our comically large vehicle safely parked on the property and proceeded to give us a tour. The grounds are spectacular and you are located in a gated compound that has an amazing sweeping view of the entire coastline of the Cinque Terre. There are two castle like towers on the property and the historic Il Gigante sculpture is more-or-less part of the compound. We absolutely loved the interior of the house. Thanks to Daniella, who personally did much of the decorating, it doesn't feel like a rental; it's more like staying with a wealthy relative with great style. The history of the house is represented with art and family history; we loved the collection of pieces depicting the house and the decades of family pictures in the fascinating collage. The kitchen had everything we needed, the internet worked, the beds were comfortable...and if you need anything, Daniella is going to make it happen.
-Cooking local seafood feasts in this home and then dining on the patio with a sweeping view of the coast! (the charming seafood shop is in old town Monterosso and it closes at noon!)
-Daily Spritz on the sand at the beach bar with a view of our patio
-Nightly Negroni's on the deck of the bar overlooking the big rock in the water
-World class hospitality, management and service
-Staying in Monterosso. We rented the best house in Vernazza on our last visit and it was wonderful. Monterosso is just a better base and gives you all the charm of Vernazza with a bit of Riviera style and convenience added. Also, if you're driving, this is the only town you can actually drive to. If you stay with Daniella, you can probably park right at your house! (It is also very convenient to the train.)
If we return to the Cinque Terre, we would be very disappointed to stay anywhere else....
A great place to stay in Monterrosso. It was very quiet at night and the beds were comfortable. There is even a beach that is steps away from the villa that was not crowded. The only improvement would be screens on the windows as the mosquitos were quite aggressive when we were there. This meant that the Windows had to remain shut at all times. Daniella was also very helpful and recommended some great restaurants.
My family and I enjoyed a months stay at this charming villa last month! We have memories that will last a lifetime. The Villa is old world charm at its best! If someone is looking for typical modern same old thing..then they should not stay here. But if one is looking for an experience, one that takes you back in time, that allows you to enjoy the simpler things in life, like sitting on the veranda having breakfast we'd just walked down to the bakery to get. Listening to the Sea lap up against the shore with the breezes just enough to cool you off, and the birds and cicadas supplying a constant melodious symphony..amazingly lovely. Don't reserve your spot here if you want modern and you want someone to care take you( although Daniella took care of us when we needed anything we couldn't figure out! She is the best!)...this place is for you to enjoy as if it were your own, even though all needs are met and everything possible you'd want is there, it's yours to discover. We had my son And his wife and 2 year old with us and two teenage granddaughters ...they enjoyed every aspect of it too. We will never forget this experience! It was wonderful!
