About Karin Josif
Although we currently live in Kernville full time now, we used to live and work in the Los Angeles area and enjoyed bringing our children and our dogs here for the past 25 years. As a family we love all of the outdoor activities this area has to offer, especially hiking, biking, whitewater rafting and kayaking.
Karin Josif purchased this Cabin in 2007
Why Karin Josif chose Kernville
We spent our honeymoon here 28 years ago, and purchased our first piece of property. Camping here when our kids were babies is one of our favorite memories. We grew to love the beauty of the area. There is so much opportunity for all kinds of outdoor activities, and plenty of time left for relaxation. We always wanted a place right on the river. We purchased this cabin in 2007 and have since done a complete renovation, both inside and out. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do. This property is just a 3 hour drive from the Los Angeles area and 45 minutes from Bakersfield.
What makes this Cabin unique
The obvious benefit to this property is its location. It offers the amazing sound and view of the river, with the backdrop of beautiful mountains. You will be able to access many activities just by walking outside. Bring your swim suit, fishing pole, book and cooler and spend the day at the beach that is just steps out the back door. Drive 3 miles into town, walk around the antique shops and grab a bite to eat at one of several restaurants. One of our favorite things to do is take the dogs for a hike each morning on one of many hiking trails.
Please consider the following guidelines when booking this property:

Everything is as stated in the listing. My best advice is if you are thinking about staying here, do it! You won’t be sorry
Wonderful vacation home!
Property was so cute, clean and very conveniently located. We loved that there is two living spaces so we could split up anytime we needed alone time. The weather was really cold when we were there so the water was running very high and fast, no swimming, no tubing, no fishing but that had nothing to do with the house. It gave us the opportunity to light a fire in the fireplace each night and make smores. This was my kids favorite part! Bubbles Beach is apparently not accessible anymore. We inquired at the same store almost right across from the house. After speaking to them we took a walk down the street to see if we could get there that way and fencing was up with locked gates that had signs that you could no longer get to Bubbles Beach. Could have just been the time of the year with the high fast waters, I'm not sure.
I've waited a long time and it was worth the wait. Clean, beautiful, relaxing and perfect. Thank you
This was our second visit in 6 months. The house was even more perfect due to the beautiful landscape improvements... stonework, fence. It was a pleasant surprise to find a basket of Kind bars, popcorn and wine. So thoughtful! It was fun to watch the kayakers and rafters go down the river from the back porch. The place is spotless and comfortable. No complaints!
Beautiful views of the Kern and Mountains beyond
I stayed at the house with my three children and loved every minute. The enjoyed playing by the creek and walking to Bubbles Beach to enjoy a golden spring afternoon. Sunset is gorgeous for the back porch. The house was very comfortable with a fabulous kitchen.
Lovely, well built, well maintained home right on the river. The views from the back porch are beautiful & refreshing. House is clean, comfortable, well equipped with many thoughtful, helpful extras (night lights, lamps on both sides of the bed, plush towels, comfy bed, lots of pillows, nice kitchen appliances, coffee, a bowl of microwave popcorn & granola bars, among other things). Hosts are very responsive & helpful. We've stayed in VRBOs from Hawaii to Maine & this was one of the nicest. Early March meant somewhat limited hiking due to snow closures but we did a couple of nice hikes & enjoyed the peace & quiet & having the hiking trails to ourselves. Just an FYI, the house is not quite as secluded as the photo makes it look. There are neighbors fairly close on either side though we neither saw nor heard a peep out of them.
Immediately from this property is fishing, hiking, rafting, kayaking and mountain biking. No need to drive anywhere.....it's all right outside your back door. Also in the small town of Riverkern, a few hundred yards from the home, is the Riverkern General Store. They will have all the basic essentials. Great tri-tip sandwiches, soft drinks, beer, fishing gear, and other miscellaneous items you may need.
