This Carmel getaway provides privacy, beauty, and plenty of outdoor spaces, while still being walking distance to the shops and restaurants of downtown. Hiking trails and the Forest Theatre are also just a stones throw away from this special hideaway. Enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature from this one of a kind retreat, backing up to the forested beauty of Carmel's Mission Creek.
This peaceful setting features views of the Carmel Forest, sounds of the babbling Mission Creek, distant crashing waves, and numerous song birds to sooth your spirits. Vaulted ceilings, fireplaces in the master and living room, and a handmade spiral staircase are just a few features that make this home special. This 3 bedroom, 3 bath home is on .6 acre lot in Carmel's Mission Creek area. Stairs from the street / garage level lead down to expansive brick patios and entrance to the main living area: large entry with sitting area around fireplace, expansive living room area with built in window seats for panoramic views of forest and tile and maple wood floors throughout, dining area separated from kitchen over a service bar, kitchen with gas range, refrigerator, and tile counters. One guest bedroom and bath (tub/shower) are also on this level. All 3 bathrooms are elegantly designed and oversized with stone tile floors and counters.

The experience!
Get away in luxury amongst the redwoods and oaks. Picnic in your own private nature sanctuary. Enjoy a monarch butterfly dance. Listen to the distant elephant seal calls or the trickle from babbling creek below. Watch the wildlife pass by. You may see the red fox come out to play. See the moonlight imprint evanescent shadows of oaks onto natures canvas. Ponder a stroll to the ocean. Walk to town for coffee, shopping, Art Gallery strolling, exquisite cuisine,or simply stay in and unwind. Walk out the back door a few steps to the Mission Trails for a Gorgeous Nature Hike. If you are looking to clear your mind, this is the place to do it!
The house and setting is beautiful. We had the the most awesome time staying at this house, and cannot wait to come back. If you like walking it's a delight and refreshing.
This house is a real jewel. It is located at the edge of the mission trail. A great walking loop is down the trail to the Mission, then Santa Lucia to Scenic Rd into town. The house was clean, modern and spacious. Parking is about 100 yes away on the street unless you park on a steep slope in front of the garage- but it was no problem. The patios are big and private, looking over the woods. The house was better than described, making my first rental through VRBO a success. i highly recommend it to anyone.
All four of us enjoyed our stay and will attempt to return next fall.
I spent a week with extended family here, ranging in age from 1 to 70 years, and we all were very happy with the house. We rented the house and the cottage, and found both to be comfortable and charming. We liked being able to walk to shops and restaurants of Carmel, and the nice outdoor areas of the creekside location.
I have 1 quibble - the listing on Homeaway should be more upfront about the pricing. The web site states that the property sleeps 10 and the average cost is $500/night. However, you have to rent the cottage, with an additional charge, as well as the house for the capacity to sleep 10.
We had a great time at this property. It worked very well for our party of 8. There are a few things about the house that warrant 4/5, and could be easily rectified to make this a 5 star rental. In particular, the kitchen is not very well stocked and made meal preparation a little difficult. Most rentals are like this but we've stayed in a few that have kitchens stocked like at home, and it makes a big difference—an Amazon order of kitchen essentials, as well as stocking up on things like bags and foil would be really nice.
There were two plumbing annoyances that could easily be fixed by the owner: the kitchen faucet is impossible—both getting the pressure and temperature right. And the downstairs toilet was broken the whole time we were there—constantly running, and wouldn't flush without opening the tank lid and messing around in there. Also, the parking is rather atrocious for more than one car. Two of the designated parking spaces are apparently not actually available, according to notes we received from the neighbors.
The house was large enough for all 6 of us to feel comfortable. I appreciated that each bedroom had its own bathroom.
The house is situated on a beautiful property with many patios backing up a forest. We walked on the Mission trail each morning!
The television set was confusing to use- directions posted by the set weren't easy to follow.
Fantastic communication with owner and care giver. The home and grounds are totally amazing. I will be back! There are 2 drawbacks, however. The home may not be appropriate for seniors. You must be able to walk up and down spiral stairs in the house and brick stairs outside the home. Additionally parking in the driveway is on a very steep incline. Love the grounds!!!
