Centrally situated in Mount Pleasant/Riley Park near Main Street, this welcoming one-bedroom garden house offers privacy, quiet and convenience. The free standing building features large floor-to-ceiling living room windows that look out onto beautifully maintained landscaping while providing lots of south-facing light to this bright, airy space. A fountain splashes clear water into a 3 foot deep pond that stretches across the front of the house; a cedar plank sitting deck acts as a bridge to the entrance way. The contemporary and open-concept design creates a flow from one room to the next. Guests have their own entrance as well as private parking right beside the Garden house. Additionally, there is ample free street parking in front of the property and in our quiet and safe residential neighbourhood.

What You Will Find Inside: The suite is immaculate and a recent renovation has been to the same high standards as the original construction. Included is a queen-sized bed, large closets, a bathroom with tiled walk-in shower, a 34” flat screen cable HD TV with DVD player, high speed wireless internet, queen-sized pull-out sectional sofa, a dining table for up to 6 guests and a fully equipped kitchen with new appliances (full sized refrigerator and dishwasher, drip coffee maker, automatic espresso machine, microwave, electric range, etc). To help you prepare your own gourmet meal, we keep a good selection of herbs and oils on hand for your use. Fresh herbs can be picked from the garden when they are in season. All serving and preparation utensils, dishes and cookware are provided.

The laundry room offers a new (2011) full sized Samsung washer and dryer with complimentary detergent.

What You Will Find in the Neighbourhood: The Garden House is only 2.5 blocks from the charming shops and cafes on trendy Main Street. Granville Island is a 11 minute drive, the City Centre and Gastown takes 9 minutes and nearby Queen Elizabeth Park, which offers some of the most beautiful public gardens in Vancouver, is only 7 minutes away. To the city centre (Georgia & Howe) by transit is a 20 minute ride. If you are driving, the same 20 minutes will get you to Stanley Park and the Seawall or if you prefer, Jericho Beach.

Business Features: Several features are available for business travelers: a separate desk with drawers unit and ergonomic seating, a wireless printer/copier/scanner (paper included), a (local calls only) phone and of course, high speed wireless internet.

We had the joy of staying at this beautiful new rental for a week in the fall of 2011. It is located in a tree-lined residential area of Vancouver just a few blocks off of Main Street, a well-occupied shopping and dining resource. The newly constructed living unit sits a bit behind the owners home and has its own private access. Parking was not an issue. The unit is perfect for a couple or a single renter, with a full kitchen, bath, living room and separate bedroom. Washer and dryer, dishwasher and microwave are included, as is a broadband WiFi connection. A television is available, but we didn't use it during our stay, as there was too much to do out and about!



The rental is very private. Encased in the sound of a nearby outdoor fountain, the unit is quiet and receptive. Heating was fully adequate. The queen-sized bed was quite comfortable. The large apple tree just outside its entrance offered delicious snacks. The owners, Gary and Carole, were wonderfully responsive hosts and eagerly shared information about their city and its events, to make our stay even more pleasant.



We would be delighted to stay there again.

Bright and green oasis in the city

This laneway house feels very spacious because of the bright white walls, the high ceilings and the many windows. It fronts onto a lovely garden with a gurgling water feature right outside. Although it is a short distance from the main house it felt very private. Everything one could need was thoughtfully provided, clean and functioning. The bed was very comfortable. The area has many cafes and restaurants and interesting shops within a few blocks. Salvio Volpe was a particularly good option, with excellent food. The brief interactions I had with Gary and Carol were very pleasant.

Super Convenient

One of the best features here was how easy it was to check in and out. We arrived in the middle of the night, but middle of the night arrivals are no problem here. They left the lights on for us and we were in bed in minutes! Also, we left early in the morning which was once again no problem. We absolutely loved having a parking space for us every night when we arrived home.

We had intended to do a lot of cooking. The kitchen was very well stocked for that. However, Vancouver kept us so busy we wound up eating out every night. It was so easy to walk the couple of blocks to Main street where we found so many restaurants to choose from, including Toshi Sushi, Don't Argue Pizza, Anh and Chi(Vietnamese), and Chica (Peruvian) Also, in the morning, we enjoyed walking to different coffee shops. This area is really a neighborhood so walking felt completely safe and welcoming.

We also loved the abundance of towels for the bathroom and the convenience of having a washer and dryer in the unit. Also, there was a reusable ice pack in the freezer which came in handy every day as we packed a lunch to take with us. We never used the tv, but the wireless internet worked great.

Overall, plenty of room, lots of storage, very well stocked, neighborhood feel, central location, clean and well maintained. I would definitely stay here again.

Retreat in Vancouver

We enjoyed our ten-day stay in this garden retreat. Spacious living, dining, kitchen room with huge windows. We made good use of the stove and refrigerator. The air conditioner was welcome for the few hot days. Comfortable bed in airy bedroom. Bathroom was compact but comfortable. No bathtub but great shower with handheld shower nozzle. Water feature outside added a "zen" feeling. We were able to comfortably entertain guests in our home-away-from-home. Genial hosts who did not hover! This was a perfect place for us; all was as advertised. Easy walking distance to all amenities.

What a wonderful place to call “home” !

What a wonderful place to call “home” while visiting Vancouver! We first stayed at the Lane House for a three-week period while we were between homes. It very quickly felt like home for us. Gary and Carole are hospitable and have the place set up well. All comfortable, very clean and well appointed. We spent an early Christmas with our children (two of whom live in Vancouver) and were able to prepare a great meal and have a wonderful visit. The location is superb being in walking distance to many great coffee shops, restaurants, yoga studios, local shops and all that you might need. Public transit is also close by and easily accessible.

We loved our stay so much that we did not hesitate to book another shorter stay a few months later. It was just as good as the first one. We will definitely choose to stay at the Lane House when we require a place to stay in Vancouver in the future and have recommended it to our friends and family.

Great time staying here

We stayed here for one week in mid-March and found it be a very comfortable home base. While some vacation rentals have the bare minimum, the kitchen here had vast equipment for any cooking/baking you could ever need, it seemed. There was even foil, plastic wrap, and plastic storage containers I used for some of my husband's work lunches. The large washer and dryer were almost silent with their closet door closed; the fun little tune's it was programmed to play in lieu of a grating beeeep were a pleasant surprise. The queen-sized bed was comfortable; there was a heavier feather-comforter on the bed and a thinner blanket in the closet which was nice to switch out. The nights and days were very quiet, so we slept perfectly. We found parking to be a little difficult while out and about, so it was nice to have the set parking space at home-base. The feel was open, flowing, clean and light with a few nature-themed peaceful prints complimenting the white walls which felt like a continuation of the outdoor water and gardens. The hosts were very helpful when we had questions; I mostly communicated by email as my needs weren't pressing and received prompt responses. It was centrally located to downtown and other desirable areas, with many shops/restaurants/grocery stores within a couple blocks walk. We would love to stay here again the next time we venture up to Vancouver :-)

Charming Cottage in Mount Pleasant

A delightful modern lane cottage in a quiet neighborhood. This cottage was exactly what we expected from the photos. It is clean, very well equipped (we were able to cook a Christmas meal very easily), the heating is more than adequate and the living room/kitchen is very bright. The owners were charming and very helpful. The cottage is near Main which is a trendy street with lots of shops and restaurants. and not far from a nice little park with a childrens area. I would love to stay here in the summer to take advantage of the gently bubbling pond outside right next to the patio. I would definitely recommend staying here.
