Guestbook comments from the manager

My extended family + dog enjoyed our 3 night stay during Christmas week in this comfy home in a quiet residential neighborhood a few blocks from downtown. The home fronts on a wooded lot several acres in size which neighborhood folks use for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and dog walking. Our dog loved plowing through the snow. The home itself has all the basics for a cozy winter stay, including items with more nostalgia than practical value, like ancient 8 track tapes, which we didn't try. There is much history in this house, based upon the array of old family photos on the walls. This helped us get into the holiday spirit. We cooked all our meals in. There was plenty of kitchenware, including a crockpot. We all agreed that we would come back here again. Our snowy stay left us with a warm glow

Cozy family home

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the Syringa house. Housekeeping service is not investing a lot of time here. We had to do some initial cleaning upon arrival, general dusting and cleaning of the kitchen. Living room and beds were all comfortable. Garage was a huge bonus. Master bathtub and sink did not drain properly. Kitchen had a good supply of cooking utensils, pots and pans, dinnerware, etc. Backyard patio needs attention and cleaning. We would consider using this house again.

Not ready for guest when we arrived

  • 3 of 5

When we arrived at the cabin the grass was up to our knees in the backyard and the house smelled of urine. We had to use the mower in the backyard to mow a section of the yard so our kids could play. Upon looking for why the house smelled we found a urine that wasn't flushed in the toilet. We emailed the owner Scott with no reply from him. The wash machine had wet sheets that smelled awful. The cabin is exactly how it is pictured. It's in a great location and Tom across the street is super nice. I think it's a good cabin for the price. We just wish when we arrived that it was ready for us.

Needs a little TLC

  • 2 of 5

We've stayed at this property before and enjoyed it. This time, we noticed that it could use some love. The porch furniture is duct-taped together; didn't feel safe for a child or elderly parent; there are stains all over carpet (apparently none of the dog fee is used to clean up after dogs); windows are filthy; someone's old grilled food was on porch; old dog poop in the garage on a super-old carpet; etc. We had to buy TP the second day and coffee filters.

But sheets and bathroom were clean, and that's all we really required.

Overall, we like the "homey" feel since we have kids and dogs, but we expected a little more for the cost.

great for dogs/family

  • 5 of 5

No frills, but perfect for what we needed. It was well stocked with pans and seasonings that aren't expired (more than what I can say about the condo my sister was at which was much newer and much more expensive). The backyard is fully fenced so that was handy for the dogs. The mosquitos were horrible, so if you want to enjoy the deck bring candles and bug spray. Its in a nice neighborhood close to town and the lake.

Clean and comfortable. Plenty of bedding for all, hide-a-bed in couch and extra pillows was nice.

We went to McCall for snowmobiling vacation and

the location was great. House is not big by no means, but has plenty of room for 8 of us, and when we had visitors. Parking on the street and in driveway was good for trucks with trailers. Price was right! Would recomwnd and would go again !
