Someday we hope to retire to Eddybrook Cottage. We enjoy the area and especially exploring mountain and seaside trails that we haven't hiked before.
In the summer and fall we enjoy lectures given at the College of the Atlantic, and the Library. We enjoy the art shows, the craft fairs, and local events such as the July 4th celebration.
We had a fantastic vacation. The house had everything we needed, and the location was perfect. We were able to walk to the many restaurants in town in about 10 minutes. The owners were great to work with. I hope to come back next year and would love to stay here again!
The house location was close to Acadia Ntl. Park and downtown Bar Harbor. It is on a quiet street. It is a little small and outdated with electrical, bath and kitchen, but it worked out great for our family of five (three boys). The laundry was really nice to have. The owners were great to work with and they were very helpful with ideas for how to get around on our bikes bypassing busy roads. The internet worked very well. They had lots of basics for us in the kitchen, bathroom and laundry. There is a little front yard our boys played in and there is a large grassy area at a school yard very close by. We walked to Bar Harbor several times without it being too far for us and our children (ages 8, 11 and 14).
Eddybrook was within easy walking distance to the outskirts of town which works well for those individuals who don't mind a 10-15 minute stroll and back. Home is small but adequate. 1 room with bunk beds would have been better with children than an all adult party (mid-50's to 80). Owners were very accommodating and assisted in making the arrangements as flexible as possible. Small yard with outdoor cooking flexibility and picnic table in a very quiet neighborhood a plus.
Our family just completed a week's vacation on MDI, staying at Eddybrook Cottage. The cottage itself is lovely, comfortable, clean, and in all ways faithful to the owner's description. The owner is very helpful and answered all of our questions as first-time MDI visitors. In addition, Eddybrook's location -- close both to downtown Bar Harbor and to Acadia National Park -- makes it an ideal choice for anyone wanting to sample the restaurant/shopping scene, and the various opportunities offered by Acadia. We had a wonderful, wonderful time!
Eddybrook was lovely and the owners were kind and very helpful. The house was clean which is my number one priority. It is simply and tastefully decorated. The location was great. My husband, an avid cyclist, could easily access his bike routes without needing the car and our family walked to Bar Harbor at least once everyday. The beds were very comfortable and the sheets are first rate. Some things that you should know are that the television is very small and so is the stall shower. I would definitely stay here again!
Eddybrook Cottage is in a perfect location to walk to town or to get to Acadia. It's close to everything but is a quiet and relaxing retreat. The friendlly and thoughtful owners provided everything we could need. It was great to be able to bring our small dog with us (with no extra fee.) He loved the screened in porch! Having the laundty on site is great so you don't have to overpack. If you have children, there are games and toys. You don't need to bring lawn chairs or beach towels as they are provided for you to use. TV is very small but cable is good. No air conditioning, but the 3 fans were sufficient on the hot July days. We have rented a few different Bar Harbor homes and this is our favorite..
