About Vicki and Greg Roe

We are only the second owners of this lovely cottage. Our family bought the cottage in 2001 when our children were very young. It was our home away from home during the summer months. A few years ago we bought the home directly north of the cottage and we decided that we would share our lovely cottage with other families that are seeking to get away from it all. We hope you find this cottage to be as magical as we have.

Vicki and Greg Roe purchased this cottage in 2001

Why Vicki and Greg Roe chose Southwest

My husbands family have spent their summers on Brandywine Lake since the late 1940's. When we had our children, we began looking for a home on the lake to spend our summer weekends. We were very fortunate to purchase this property which was the perfect size for a young family.

What makes this cottage unique

For many years, this was our home away from home. Our fondest memories include having coffee on the front porch in the morning while our children were sleeping, watching our kids build sand castles in the sand, taking naps in a beach chair, teaching our children how to water ski and tube, and going for boat rides at dusk followed by smores and a camp fire.

Great Time had by all on Brandwine Lake.

  • 5 of 5

What a great week my family had while staying at Brandywine Lake. Weather was excellent, swam till we turned into prunes, floated on rafts, rowed across and around the lake in a row boat, built sand castles all while on the property and all essentials were provided by the owner. Anything extra needed was just down the road in Gobles. And South Haven, Saugatuck, St. Joseph beaches were less than an hour away from this perfectly located property. Inside was quaint and extremely clean. First time supplies again were provided by owner and all cooking and eating utensils were included. Bring your swimming suit, lotion, beach towel, and a cooler of ....and you are ready to have a wonderful time.

We had a wonderful time at this lovely cottage. It was the perfect vacation for our family with 2 young children (4 years and 2 years old). The kids loved swimming in the lake and playing in the sand - and it is all just outside the door. The cottage is clean and in great condition. We took advantage of being close to some other towns like South Haven, Holland and Paw Paw. We loved being close to the Kal-Haven bike trail. I would definitely recommend!

Meeting up with Midwest family....

  • 5 of 5

We found our cabin to be as advertised and more. Having used lake cottages ( on this lake!)growing up, I remember packing everything from bed linens to dish soap to pots and pans. That is not the case here! The kitchen is well equipped for a vacation cottage, in addition there are plenty of bath towels, extra blankets for chilly nights, and many thoughtful touches such as paper towels, bug spray, flashlight, .....just bring groceries and your beach towels and you'll be good to go. We really just wanted to sit on the porch, it was so peaceful. However we managed to swim, visit one of many local blueberry farms, cruise the lake, go for walks, visit Paw Paw and Kalamazoo. I hadn't been to Kalamazoo in years the downtown is much improved with many decent restaurants now. Definitely want to go back next year AND visit all the wineries we didn't get to. ( 'Cause we couldn't leave the porch😉). A very pleasant family visit.

July in Gobles

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our vacation in Gobles very much. The cottage is adorable and well-kept. All the essentials were there and 6 of us were cozy and comfortable. The porch is great for reading and enjoying the breeze. We had hours of fun swimming in the lake, lots of great beach gear and toys. The location was good, Gobles has the essentials and Paw Paw, Kalamazoo, Portage and other cities are close by for everything else and entertainment. We were close to lots of nice day trips. Overall, very happy with our stay.

Perfect lakefront cabin getaway for a relaxing vacation!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin and area were exactly what we hoped it would be! Having your own beach, pier and swim platform was great for the kids, and the lake was not at all crowded (only 1 or 2 boats out at a time). The cabin is very well stocked, clean and comfortable, and the enclosed porch was perfect for enjoying the view. We did horseback riding down the street and got to enjoy a couple of hours of riding after our trail ride. The quaint town of Paw Paw is only about 15 minutes away, and the town of Gobles has a grocery store (5 minute drive). Blueberry, raspberry and strawberry picking is about a 10 minute drive. The bike trail is just around the lake, and we hope to check that out next time. We will definitely be back and would recommend this cabin!
