John Hendrickson - Paradise Plum
About John Hendrickson - Paradise Plum
I am a born and bred child of Jamaica now currently residing in Sydney Australia but I look forward to every opportunity I get to recharge in Jamaica with its rich culture of those who live here while enjoying the full flavor cuisine, traditions, art, language and music. It does not take me long to fall back into step with the island of 'Soon Come' and everything 'All Right'. It would be my pleasure for you to stay at Paradise Plum so you can enjoy your little piece of Jamaica as much as I do mine.
John Hendrickson - Paradise Plum purchased this House in 2011
Why John Hendrickson - Paradise Plum chose Montego Bay
I am very proud of this property with its prime location within the gated community located in the prestige residential and resort area of Rose Hall, St James. It has beautiful views of the Caribbean Sea from the hills of the Rose Hall White Witch Golf Club while still located close to all the resorts, attractions and shopping that the city of Montego Bay has to offer. The property comes fully staffed with a chef, butler and housekeeper! Prepare to be completely indulged and spoilt on this vacation! Our friendly staff will offer you a warm welcome and serve you with traditional Jamaican hospitality for the duration of your stay. Come for a visit, and we will do all we can to make sure you come back as friends.

Loved every minute
The house is beautiful, and so hard to leave the property! The pool, the food, the staff was fantastic. We even had a yoga instructor come on site a few days, arranged flawlessly. The driver, LaCells, was great-helped us with acivities and so convenient. Blue Hole was great, the luminescent night swim so fun, snorkling too. The beach is just ok, but a nice change of pace but dont waste a ton of time there. And did I mention Romaine's amazing meals, delish. Nakita is so sweet and keeps things nice a picked up. Don't hesitate, just beautiful.
Best Vacation Ever!
Our group of 8 girls stayed at Paradise Plum for 5 days and had an amazing time! I can not say enough about the staff, or put into words how amazing they were to us.
Starting with the house, our views were amazing and we all felt extremely safe there knowing that we were in a private gated neighborhood, with a full staff on property. The location was very peaceful and quiet!
The staff was INCREDIBLE! They became our family in just 5 days, and we were all very sad to leave. Niki was amazing and always made sure the house was clean and that we had fresh towels while in the pool or going to the beach! We tried to clean up after ourselves but would still come home to the house cleaner than we left it. Romain is an AMAZING chef. Every meal we had was better than the last. Some of my favorites for dinner were the jerk chicken, jerk pork, stuffed snapper, garlic shrimp, curry shrimp, steamed veggies, rice and peas. Everything was amazing. Last but not least, the driver Lasalle was heaven sent for us. Our group went out in town quite a bit at night and Lasalle was great at giving us suggestions on where to go. He walked us in everywhere we went, and I felt like I had a bodyguard with us making sure we were safe. He also took us on a day trip to Negril to go to ricks cafe, which was amazing! On my birthday we came home to the house fully decorated and a special cake made just for me, which was a huge surprise for everyone! They are so thoughtful and kind, and our stay wouldn’t have been what it was without them.
The only negative thing I can say about this trip was that we had no water one day for about 2 hours. The staff was able to get this resolved quickly, and we didn’t have any other issues the rest of the stay.
I look forward to staying here again in the future!!!
Thank you so much for the wonderful review and we glad you had a great time in our home I will pass your comments on to Romain and Nikita on the great job they did making you feel at home. Take care and we look forward to you visiting our Villa again.

Best Vacation Ever!
We just returned from our most relaxing and enjoyable vacation ever! We were able to spend lots of time with our family of 9 with kids and grandkids ranging in age from 32 to 9 months and everyone loved it! We took excursions to Negril, Ocho Rios, and Doctor’s Cove Beach. Favorite activities were Blue Hole, Dolphin Cove and playing in the fantastic pool at the villa. Y far the best part was the amazing staff - Romain, Shavar and Nikita!!!!! We love them and they pampered us all week. Romain is a gifted chef and we chose to eat Jamaican cuisine all week for dinner - favorites were pumpkin soup, jerk chicken, curried goat, festival, cassava, peppered steak, red snapper, just to name a few! Shavar was so helpful with trip planning, buying jack fruit along the way at a roadside stand and we loved his stories of the history and culture. Nikita kept us in clean clothes and always had our rooms tidy and her turndown service was great. They all work together as a team and We were so sad to leave - they became part of our family! The villa and neighborhood are lovely and we took many walks around the neighborhood. We hope to return soon! Thanks for a great week!
The house is amazing and the staff is even better! Would definitely stay at Paradise Plum again and again!
Our family of 10 adults rented Paradise Plum Villa in March 2019. We all had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend it to others. Romain, Nikita and Shavar were exceptional and certainly made our vacation!
The following is in no way a complaint, and it sounds ridiculous to even say. The only part that was a little confusing to me/us, is that we were told there was a Chef, Butler and Housekeeper, we only had the Chef and Housekeeper. Shavar was the driver (was included as part of our booking for 2019), and while he seemed to play the role of butler often, we thought there was a specific person devoted to things like this. Mainly, I think some of us felt bad interrupting Romain for small things like drinks, or other questions we may have. Again, NOT A COMPLAINT, everything was great! If you're on the fence for booking this property, DO IT, you will not be disappointed. A big thank you to Romain, Nikita & Shavar!
PS, John was very easy to communicate with and responsive. The entire process went smoothly, something I consistently worry about when booking this type of accommodations. Thanks, John!!!
Happy that you enjoyed your stay at Paradise Plum. My apologies about the confusion with the staffing, we had a adjustment from the start of year that was different from the time of your booking. Our commitment to providing the highest quality in service remains our top priority for guest of Paradise Plum. Thank you for choosing to stay with us.
My entire family was highly impressed with the level of service & dedication that Romain, Shavar & Nakita exhibited. They made our stay very memorable and will definitely recommend it to anyone looking at some for great service
Rose Hall is widely regarded to be a visually impressive house and the most famous in Jamaica. It is a mansion in Jamaican Georgian style with a stone base and a plastered upper storey, high on the hillside, with a panorama view over the coast. It was built in the 1770s at a cost of about £30,000 and subsequently became the property of John Palmer. Hakewill visited the building and wrote:
"It is placed at a delightful elevation, and commands a very extensive sea view. Its general appearance has much of the character of a handsome Italian villa. A double flight of stone steps leads to an open portico, giving access to the entrance hall; on the left of which is the eating-room, and on the right the drawing-room, behind which are other apartments for domestic uses. The right wing, fitted up with great elegance, and enriched with painting and gilding, was the private apartment of the late Mrs. Palmer, and the left wing is occupied as servants’ apartments and offices. The principal staircase, in the body of the house, is a specimen of joinery in mahogany and other costly woods seldom excelled, and leads to a suite of chambers in the upper story."
Rose Hall was restored in the 1960s to its former splendor, with mahogany floors, interior windows and doorways, paneling and wooden ceilings. It is decorated with silk wallpaper printed with palms and birds, ornamented with chandeliers and furnished with mostly European antiques. There is a bar downstairs and a restaurant.
The estate, and the adjoining plantation "Palmyra", was passed down to John Rose Palmer from his great uncle.
Rose-Hall estate had about 650 acres divided among sugar cane, grass, and about pasture for over 270 head of cattle. About 250 enslaved Africans were housed on Palmyra estate, which furnished about 1,250 acres.
