About the Property

Our casita is located in the neighborhood of Taos known as Canon, a charming agrarian community that is in close proximity to downtown Taos. You can spend the day skiing, going to museums, the plaza, the Taos Pueblo, The Rio Grande gorge, white water rafting, gallery hopping and fine dining; then retreat to your hideaway for replenishment.. If tomorrow you desire a more mellow day, walk out the door into the Carson National Forest, set up your easel. or enjoy a few hours in our organic garden.
The casita, situated on two beautiful acres, is a one bedroom (queen size Tempurpedic mattress)/ one bath with a fully provisioned kitchen and lovely living room. It is tastefully appointed with many pieces of art by local artists. The floors in the bedroom are Saltillo tile and the living area has warm wood floors.
Although we list our casita as sleeping 2 people, we probably could accommodate a young child.

Although our property is on Brehl Lane, we do not enter on Brehl Lane but use the driveway 120' to the west(closer to town) called Baca Lane. Go down Baca Lane almost to the end and you will see old farm implements and a sign that says Ranchito Deluxe. Turn right there.

Year Purchased: 1986

About the owner: We have lived in Taos for 30+ years and in this location since 1986. I am a designer/ builder and built the casita you will be staying in as well as the main house. I am an afficianado of architecture, especially of the indigenous architecture of Northern New Mexico and try to hold true to that essence in my building projects. My wife, Melissa, is a master gardener, basket maker and all around artist whose canvas is life. She is also a very humble person who will probably think that I am embellishing her a bit much. I'll let you be the judge.

Why the Owner Chose Taos, NM, USA:
Our property is in close proximity to the heart of Taos and near the Carson National Forest. We are located equidistantly From Taos Ski Valley and Angel Fire Ski Resort (approximately 20 miles). Taos Country Club(open to the public) is eight miles South.

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
If a peaceful retreat is what you are after then come to our casita. We are at the end of a dead end road that is near the Carson National Forest ( great year round hikes). In the summer months we have bountiful garden. My wife and I are long term residents of Taos and love to share what we appreciate about Taos and the surrounding areas.
