Relax and unwind, island style at Changes In Attitudes, your personal island lifestyle get-away. This extremely well kept, gulf-view, home includes a private dock on Bocilla lagoon with access to the intercoastal waterway (which can accommodate up to a 20 foot boat, please inquire about bringing your boat). The beach, a short 300 feet away with rarely a person in sight, has a very private feel with seven miles of perhaps some of the most pristine and secluded beach you’ll ever experience.

Our home includes three well-appointed bedrooms including a large master suite. The master suite and one of the guest bedrooms have very nice views of Bocilla lagoon with large glass sliding doors that opens into the breezy spacious screened porch area. The third bedroom also has access to the porch via sliding glass doors. The kitchen, dining and main living area is an open concept plan and takes full advantage of the fantastic lagoon views with a large set of sliding glass doors that opens into the main area of the screened porch.

There is a cozy fireplace and newer furniture for relaxing and unwinding in style. The kitchen is fully equipped and ready for the gourmet chef in you to explore tasty new opportunities. Our home has tile and hardwood floors throughout for easy living.NO CARPET ANYWHERE to harbor allergens, sand, smells, spills and humidity. The bathrooms are all freshly updated as well. The downstairs entertainment area is huge, fully decked, and includes a fantastic tiki bar with stools, hammocks, lounge chairs and more! It’s open, airy and a great area to hang out and enjoy some quality time with family and friends. There is also a private outdoor shower so you can rinse off after a fun day on the beach.

Don Pedro Island (aka Palm Island) offers a unique, pristine and very natural “Old Florida” atmosphere. This is a place for relaxing, fishing and going for long quiet beach walks. Don Pedro is a barrier island with no bridges to the mainland so you’ll feel like you’re on a private island with all the modern conveniences such as cable TV and high-speed internet access to name a few. The mode of transportation to the island is by car ferry or private boat. The few minutes that it takes the ferry to cross the water will transform you from the outside world to our tropical paradise. Ferry service operates on a daily basis so you can venture off island as needed to explore the mainland. We have special prices on the ferry passes since we purchase them in books of ten, so please inquire about passes before you book your stay. Our home includes an optional golf cart rental and the use of two beach bikes and two kayaks (special prices on golf cart rentals with weekly stays). The island has a restaurant, pizza, ice cream and breakfast shoppe and a small convenience store. Close at hand on the mainland offers full service marinas, boat rentals, grocery stores, shopping, golf courses and waterfront restaurants. World famous Boca Grande is also a short drive from the ferry landing and offers quaint upscale shopping, restaurants, a beachfront lighthouse and more.

Changes In Attitudes is a wonderful way to spend time with family and friends, recharge your batteries, unwind and relax, island-style (so leave your tie at home) – bring your flip-flops and your breezy island attire and get back to basics. It truly is a rare, special place that offers visitors one of the most memorable vacation experiences you are ever likely to discover.

We live in New Jersey and have been traveling to the Gulf Coast beaches for our recreation and vacations for over 10 years. The boating is fantastic and our time with our family has created a bunch of fond memories for us. Most Florida beaches are overbuilt and congested – it's hard to find a beach with so few people and so underdeveloped. Quite refreshing to say the least. We chose Don Pedro Island (Palm Island) for the natural beauty and 'Old Florida' feel. This chain of islands just may be the last true Florida beach you can walk down (7 miles long) and hardly see another person. We also liked that there are no beach bars and no high-rise buildings. It is the best of Old Florida, natural, unspoiled and a genuine paradise.

Why Diane, owner chose Florida South West

We decided to purchase a home here for the unspoiled beauty of the island and the area in general. Englewood is a low-key Old Florida 'beach town' that reminds you of how Florida looked many years ago, without the huge high-rise condominiums and massive hotels clogging the beach. There are plenty of local 'home-grown' shops and restaurants and the fishing is some of the best in world. The beaches are fantastic and the boating is world-class. If you are looking for a great family area that is close to everything, but far away from the congestion, traffic and noise, you'd be hard pressed to find a better place. The only way to get on and off the island is by a 3 minute car ferry ride. Having no bridge to the island allows for a semi-private atmosphere and keeps beach going traffic to an absolute minimum. The island is all residential other than the resort area at the north end of Palm Island which offers a quality restaurant, deli and ice cream shoppe and small convenience store. Most all of the island traffic is by golf cart.

What makes this house unique

Staying on the island is not for everyone. If you like lots of places to shop, tourist attractions, beach bars and chain restaurants, this isn't the place for you. On the other hand, if you are looking for uncrowded and unspoiled beaches, great kayaking, fishing and swinging in a hammock under some breezy palms, this may be just the place. It's for a couple or family that wants some serious down-time ... a place to unplug and recharge your batteries and enjoy some great family time. Our house is pet-friendly with wood or tile floors throughout, a private outdoor shower (which is great for pets!) with a huge downstairs entertainment area complete with your own Tiki Bar. You'll also enjoy a private dock overlooking the lagoon and a great screened wrap-around porch. Our landscaping is all Florida native and offers a very private, resort-style environment.

Don Pedro Island is a semi-private island with access via a short 3 minute car ferry, or by private boat. Golf, shopping and restaurants are all nearby with easy access from the ferry landing. The beach is steps from our front door. There is also a restaurant on the island as well as a small convenience store and ice creme shoppe.
