What could be more relaxing?
The Toland Adobe has 2 cozy adjoining bedrooms (queen beds) furnished for comfort with quality linens, and a bath with a new custom walk-in shower and a new vanity, etc.. The living room contains a futon sleeper (new mattress in 2015) for additional sleeping accommodations. The house sleeps a maximum of 6.
Ready to take a break from sight-seeing? The house boasts a flat-screen TV, basic cable, and a DVD/VHS player. Plus, you’ll find a CD player and an iPod docking station.
Want to stream video, listen to Pandora, or play on-line games? With our unlimited wifi, you are free to use the internet just as you would at home. There's a Roku box so you can listen to Pandora or use your Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon accounts.
The original adobe structure has been modified and upgraded through the years. Its comfortable lounge areas and vaulted bead board ceilings will encourage you to kick back and relax. Over 200 DVDs and gobs of books line the living room shelves. Make yourself at home.
Because we want you to be comfortable year-round, the house has both a mini-split heating/cooling system and a separate window a/c unit in the front bedroom. We also have rolling evaporative cooling units, just in case. But we’re talking Bisbee, not Phoenix. Bisbee has the best weather in Arizona.
If you enjoy cooking, you’ll love having everything you need to prepare great meals: the kitchen is well-equipped with quality pots and pans, sharp knives and numerous small appliances. We love to cook! You’ll love the outdoor eating area with its gas BBQ, too.
A reverse osmosis system for fresh drinking water was installed in March 2016.
Worried about running out of clean clothes? We provide an indoor laundry room with full-sized washer/dryer. The laundry room is adjoined to the bathroom.
Looking for something unique? The Toland Adobe is on the National Register of Historic Places and was once owned by one of Teddy Roosevelt’s Roughriders, Jesse Toland!
The Toland Adobe is reached via just a few wide/deep steps (no stairway) that ascend into a secluded garden courtyard, from which there is a partial view of the mountains. The yard is private (not shared) and is completely fenced -- perfect for those who like to spend time outside in a romantic setting and also handy for those with children and dogs. Enjoy the security of a locked gate and your own front door code.
Imagine the freedom you’ll feel sitting on the patio, reading a novel while the children and dogs play nearby. The owners have 8 grandchildren and are dog lovers who want to ensure kids and dogs are comfortable and safe. That can be hard to find in Bisbee, but with its garden courtyard outside, and hardwood and tile floors inside, the Toland Adobe is both kid- and dog-friendly.
We make things simple for moms by providing both a portable playpen/crib and a high-chair.
You’ll love how convenient the location is to downtown, yet how nice it is to escape to a peaceful home once you’re ready to relax.
The Toland Adobe has on-street parking, with even more parking in the free city lot nearby.
Whether you’re renting for a weekend or for the season, you’ll want to find the best possible place. And you’ve found it: a great location, a sweet house, and a private yard.
FAQs: 1) Check in is after 3 p.m., check out is by noon. 2) Parking in Bisbee is on a first come, first served basis. We have never had trouble parking right near the house. Generally, you’ll want to park perpendicular (or parallel) to Shearer across street, (there are usually two or three spaces available there) or directly in front of our gate. You can also park in the parking lot you skirt to get to the house.

About Becky McIntyre
We are Bryan and Becky McIntyre. We are a middle-aged/senior couple who found Bisbee in February 2012 while escaping record-setting snow in our small northern California town. Bryan is a retired aerospace employee, and I work from home part-time. Our children are grown, and we have 8 grandchildren (ages 3 to 16).
Becky McIntyre purchased this House in 2012
Why Becky McIntyre chose Bisbee
We heard about Bisbee from J.A. Jance’s novels and decided we had to see what high desert winters were all about. T-shirts and shorts in February! Within two weeks of our arrival, we had decided to buy a house there. Seriously. And no, it wasn’t something we set out to do. But we loved the town, and after two weeks of talking ourselves out of it, we contacted a realtor. The moment we walked through (the old) gate into the private patio, we knew The Toland Adobe was the house for us. A lot of elbow grease, improvements, and shopping later, we opened as a vacation rental in June 2012. We’ve been back many times to make more improvements and to hang out on that wonderful patio. Bryan is quite the handyman and built the fence out front and did all sorts of other jobs. We bring our three large dogs with us. We hope you enjoy your stay.
What makes this House unique
We chose this house because it had all of the features we wanted: it is only a few minutes from downtown, it has a fenced yard, and it has only a few stairs. It's amazingly private for a home that's minutes from downtown. There is no long hike back up the hills after dinner out, or dozens of stairs to climb with luggage or groceries. We spend as much time as possible at our Bisbee home, enjoying the lovely weather and walking the town with our dogs.

Perfect Bisbee Experience
My wife and I and our 2 dogs stayed here and loved the place for many reasons. First, house is charming and well stocked with various household things. Porch and fenced in patio also really nice--nice view of mountain overlooking Bisbee (could see xmas tree with lights on hill when we were there). Centrally located as well, so easy walking distance to downtown Bisbee, Brewery Gulch (!), etc. Several good eating places nearby. Had great time exploring the Bisbee scene--it's a cool funky town with lots of character!! House was a perfect home base for our explorations.
Thank you for that glowing review, Doug! I was so glad to hear how much you enjoyed the house, the fenced patio, and the wonderful town of Bisbee, Arizona. We agree, Bisbee has lots of character and charm. We hope to see you again soon.
Nov 25, 2017 As always, did not disappoint.
This lovely little house is the absolute best rental we have found in Bisbee. This house is spacious, spotlessly clean, accepts pets, is stocked with movies and books and is connected to speedy Wi-Fi. There are many cozy blankets, comfortable furniture inside and out, and a pretty layout created with vacationers and relaxation in mind. In addition to thick new towels and colorful sheets, there are numerous potholders, kitchen towels and washrags. (If you have rented much at all, you know how rare this is.) The kitchen deserves its own separate review. Every kitchen gadget and appliance you could possibly need has been provided. Our dogs haven't found a way out in spite of searching. They are perfectly happy and safe alone in the yard and we don't have to watch them constantly. This is a perfect little get away house. There are no stairs, which I really appreciate, and a new shower has been added. The water pressure is very high and there is plenty of hot water.
Thanks for your review, Mary. It is always a pleasure to have you, Andy, Zorra, and Pixie as guests.
Cute private Bisbee bungalow
Don't expect deluxe accommodations but it's Bisbee and a very comfortable little home. The house seemed to have whatever you would need including some spices. We found the place clean and the owner responsive to our needs. It is in a quiet neighborhood but a short walk to downtown and all the shops. There is a small parking space at the gate but will only fit a compact car. The yard is fenced and very private with a nice table and chairs if you like to eat outdoors.
Perfect piece of Bisbee!
This is our 5th anniversary of staying in the Toland Adobe over the weekend of the Bisbee 1000 race, and we cannot say enough great things about it! The location is perfect, as it is a 5 minute walk to town. The kitchen is well-stocked with spices, oils, etc. for cooking the meals you bring. The bedrooms are comfortable for guests, and the newly remodeled bathroom is beautiful. We spend a good amount of time on the patio enjoying the weather and surroundings. We will definitely be returning to the Toland Adobe next October. Thank you, Becky, for another memorable stay!
Thanks for your fabulous review, Lauren! We're happy and proud to have you return year after year.
Perfect Bisbee gem!!!!!
This house was perfect for our stay. It is in the heart of oldtown and in walking distance to the shops, restaurants, bars and museums. The house was extremely clean and kitchen stocked with any and all kitchen utensils you could think of. We loved the privacy of the courtyard/patio. We will definitely be staying at this beautiful gem again. Becky the owner, emailed me to ensure we arrived and I emailed her with a question about the wifi (my ten year old unplugged the modem without me knowing), she responded promptly and that was where I found our mistake. The owners are not intrusive and do not stay on the property which pleased me, since I've dealt with some pretty odd ones from past experiences. Awesome home and looking forward to our next stay!!
Thanks for your wonderful review, Kendra. We agree with you on the need for privacy while at the same time wanting a responsive host. We, too, have stayed at rentals where the owner has popped in (several times). We didn't like that, either. We hope to have you back again soon.
Right in the heart of downtown Bisbee but completely private!
The perfect Bisbee getaway location. Has a pedestrian gated entry that makes the property completely private. A very pleasant courtyard adds to the private experience and makes it kid and dog friendly.
My husband and I stay in VRBO's most of the time when we travel and I have to say that this one was the best equipped we have ever stayed in. From kitchen stuff to towels and linens, clearly a lot of thought went in to making it as comfortable as it could possibly be.
Right in downtown old Bisbee so walking to everything is easy. We loved our stay here!!!
Thank you for that fabulous review, Susan. I'm always delighted to hear that people love our Bisbee vacation rental. That courtyard is what sold us on the house, even before we saw the inside of the 1888-era home. Thanks again for being a great guest.
The house doesn't show correctly on Google maps: Google points to the orange house in front of ours. Our house is off the street, behind the orange house. There is always something to see or do in Bisbee. Do you like to mingle with the locals and then head back to your own place and relax, away from it all? The Toland Adobe is a great place for that -- a few minutes on foot from most of the local events yet in a quiet residential area. Here are the annual events: Friends of the Copper Queen Library Chocolate Tasting, Cochise Cowboy Poetry and Music Gathering, Bisbee Fiber Arts Festival, Annual Copper City Classic Vintage Base Ball Tournament, Cinco de Mayo Festival, Bisbee Pride Parade, 4th of July Parade and Coaster Races, Pirates of the High Desert, Brewery Gulch Daze, Ironman Ice Competition, Annual Cars & Bikes Boys and Girls Club Fundraiser, Bisbee Bloomers Garden Tour, Bisbee Blues Festival, Bisbee 1000 Stair Climb, Rotary Wine Tasting and Taste of Bisbee, Copper Queen Halloween, Annual Bisbee Historic Home Tour, and Small Town Holiday and Festival of Lights
