About Valerie Blackketter

I grew up here, climbing the Oaks and exploring the surrounding hills. The Oaks are native, but my Mom planted all the other trees and shrubs on this 1.6 acre hilltop estate. Now this is our retirement home, and I have inheritied my Mom's appreciation for the land and her love of gardening!

Why Valerie Blackketter chose Browns Valley

We have two dogs and a parrot who travel everywhere with us, and they love exploring the hillsides on this property. We come here several times a year to upgrade the property and just to share the relaxed atmosphere with family, friends and neighbors.

What makes this house unique

We always enjoy the quiet tranquility of this wooded setting, only disturbed by the chatter of squirrels and the night time calls of owls. And yet it is only one mile for CA Hwy 29 with access to all the attractions of downtown Napa and wineries up the Valley. Makes a great setting for your next family gathering, business retreat or wedding reception!

Napa At Its Best!

  • 5 of 5

We needed a "home" while looking for a home and this was perfect. Loaded with charm, privacy and conveniently located to town, shopping and wineries. The owner was very responsive whenever we needed anything and couldn't be easier to work with.

It's always challenging for us to find vacation homes because we have 3 dogs, and this place is "doggy heaven." They were able to wander the extensive property and stay out of mischief.

Compared to other places we looked at, the rental cost was very affordable. It also included semi-monthly house cleaning service which was a bonus that I didn't expect.

If you are looking for a "blast to the past" (circa 50's), this will not disappoint. Not recommended for those looking for the typical modern conveniences/luxuries found in a newer home.

Private Oasis

  • 5 of 5

I recently had a great stay @ this property. It was private, yet only a few minutes from shops, banks, restaurants and grocery stores. Valerie, the Property Manager, was wonderful. She was available for any questions or needs I had & responded quickly. I recommend this private oasis if you are looking for solitude, yet need to be close to civilization. You really do get the best of both worlds here! I will be returning.

Great house on a hilltop

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in this home. It is a beautifully-preserved '50s ranch with gardens all around. You can see some vineyards in the distance from the backyard.

It was a great jumping-off point for our tour of the Napa Valley, and I would definitely recommend it for anyone coming to see wine country.

Beyond Expectations

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed 3 nights at the end of May and the house is absolutely amazing. The pictures do not do it justice, we miss the house so much already and we just got back. The owners so great and responsive it makes setting up the stay so easy. They have paid attention to every detail and they give you very specific instructions on how to fully enjoy the home. The house is spotless when you arrive. It is on a large piece of property, very private and secure, it is your own hidden oasis. You are quick 8 minute drive to Downtown napa, 30 minutes to St. Helena, 1 hour to Santa Rosa. Very cool old school charm, comfortable beds and plenty of area sit and talk with your family and friends. Nice large open kitchen so you can cook at talk with people, outdoor heater and BBQ. They have every utensil and kitchen amenity you can think of also!!! 5 Stars really is not enough. Thank you we will be back for sure.

Great Home

We really enjoyed our stay in Napa, The home was exceptionally clean and the grounds were beautiful. It was centrally located for all our needs. The ease of renting their home was definitely a plus. We would not hesitate to rent this home again.

Napa, CA

This home is the definition of homey and sweet. We lived in it for three months when we relocated to Napa and were remodeling our purchased house, The owners are SO fabulous to work with and SO hospitable. The grounds are AMAZINGLY beautiful and well kept. The gate gives a nice sense of security and privacy. Hot air balloons float over on a regular basis and the neighbors are very nice. We lived here with our three young daughters and they loved it! It is VERY well equipped with everything you need for your stay and has all of the wifi and tv your could want. It is a bit dated (as you see from the photos) but the accommodations are super comfortable and the charm is never ending!! You wont be disappointed!
