About Daniel Johnson

My wife and are are both Socialworkers in Seattle where we live with our two children, a dog and 2 cats. We like to travel, yet our favorite destination tends to be Harstine Island.

Daniel Johnson purchased this house in 2004

Why Daniel Johnson chose Shelton

I grew up in nearby Shelton. I have fond memories of coming to Harstine Island with my twin brother and Dad to look at property - there was no bridge at that time, just a small ferry. We purchased the land 25 years ago because of the natural beauty and my love of the water. We decided to build a family cabin where we could spend time with family and friends. We took two years to build it working with my retired high school geometry teacher as the general contractor - it was a labor of love. We finished the cabin in 2004.

What makes this house unique

The stunning view of the cove through the trees, relaxing in the hot tub, cooking in the well equipped kitchen, playing games in front of the fireplace , ping pong, watching movies, kayaking, sailing, fishing and walks to the marina are among our top 10 favorites at the cabin.

Amazing cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Everything about this cabin was amazing. The owner was great to work with. The views were incredible and so peaceful. There was plenty of space for our two families in this three story cabin. The boys especially enjoyed the kayaks that were included and fishing from the dock. The hot tub was refreshing and the fireplace was great for samores each night. The kitchen was the best stocked kitchen from any house we have ever rented, they literally had everything.

Beautiful home in a peaceful setting. Our family enjoyed a weekend together here recently - 8 adults and 2 children + baby were very comfortable in this clean, well stocked home. We loved the DVDs, board games and ping pong table for evening family fun and our granddaughter was more than thrilled to find a craft table! Days were spent relaxing and exploring the island and we used the watercraft at the house to visit the state park across the cove. A memorable time for us all. Thank you to the owners for sharing their piece of paradise!

What a lovely home on the water. Perfect for a multi-generational family gathering. So much for kids to do inside and out, and adults loved just visiting in the living room with view and fireplace, and cooking good meals. Kitchen is very well stocked with pots and pans, utensils and serving dishes!

Having so many watercraft at our disposal was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed time with kayaks and stand up paddleboard. We explored the state park across the way and kayaked with sea otters. Swimming off the dock was great (though the stairs on the ladder were set upside down so it makes for a painful way out.... best to wear water shoes!).

We also fell in love with Hartstine Island - what a lovely, relaxing place. We loved Farmer's Market and the Felid Sanctuary.

Perfect vacation home

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful accommodations for the 10 of us. Enough watercrafts for all 10 of us to be on the water at the same time. Well stocked kitchen. Lots of games, DVDs, and CDs to play. Kids, aged 10-17, really enjoyed having the downstairs space to themselves. Closest grocery store is in Shelton which is a 25-30 minute drive. There is a small convenience store with a gas station about 15 min away that has food items but no fresh produce. No A/C but house cools off well with windows open and fans going. Owner is very responsive to messages. Thank you for providing everything for a wonderful vacation. Would love to visit again.

Lucky if you rent this home

  • 5 of 5

We were here for a week and loved every day here.

We only had two couples but could have had 4-6 more people.

The views were great and this was a great launching place for all areas in the peninsula.

Be ready to drive a bit if you plan on exploring Olympic National Forest. The drives are beautiful though. We are disc golfers and there were great courses in Shelton, Olympia, Sequim, and Port Angeles.

We loved the area so much that my sister and her husband plan to move here from California.

Back to the home, it had it all. It was completely furnished for every activity imaginable.

You will not regret staying here. We hope to stay here again next summer.

Great Family Reunion in a Great Waterfront Home

  • 5 of 5

We were 3 generations in this beautiful Northwest home on Jarrett Cove, Harstine Island. The house met our needs perfectly. We enjoyed everything, incl. the kayaks. Could not be better. Highly recommended for group of 8-10. Host was very helpful with fast responses to questions before and under our stay.
