Flanked by the Atlantic in the east and the Pamlico in the west, you have convenient access to the water for any type of day. In less than five minutes you can be on one of the most relaxing beach spots on the East Coast. Located on Sand Street, this beach access also boasts history that you can touch or admire. The historical shipwreck known to locals as "The Old Richmond" lies approximately 75 yards off the shore. If the conditions are right and the water is calm, the site is rather easy to free dive. If adventure isn't your forte, you can still admire The Old Richmond from afar and feel confident that you have walked the shores of the Graveyard of the Atlantic.

The cottage worked out great for us. Not much of a walk to get to the beach or a local market. The place had enough room for the two of us to stay comfortably and provided us with all the essentials we needed. We were able to cook quite a few meals with all the kitchen items provided, which was great and there were also a few restaurants that we could get to in just a few minutes. We met Cathy on the last day, she's very nice and makes sure to take care of the property. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
Great contact with the owner before arrival.
cutting board in the kitchen could be bigger ;)
nothing to say appart from that.
What a great week! Cathy's house is perfect for couples...it is perched high above the street level, with an ideal layout for what we needed. It is near the beach, but if you have a 4x4, there are amazing 4x4 beaches between Salvo and Hatteras, and we only spent one day at the beach near Cathy's (and the cool shipwreck right off shore). The rest of the week was spent exploring empty beaches (the $50 ORV permit is well worth it). Thanks Cathy!
My husband and I stayed for a week this past summer in this sweet little cottage in Salvo. We had a great time. It is small, but perfect for two! The layout was great and the walk to the beach was just a short 5 minute walk. It was a great location. We felt like a local. You can walk to a few little markets from the house. We had a problem with the sink leaking and the owner had someone come out right away! She was wonderful to work with and if we ever head to Salvo again, we would definitely stay here another time! Salvo is small and lovely.. just know that it's not built up like Nags Head.. we had the beach to ourselves some days! Other days people were 30 ft away.. talk about awesome! In Nags Head, you will be on top of people. The beach near the house has an awesome anchor sticking out of the water from a shipwreck. We had another couple stay with us on the futon couch for a few nights and the husband swam out and fished off the anchor. He's crazy, haha. Thanks for a great vacation! :)
The cottage is perfect for a single couple. Cathy was very nice and available for any questions or information I needed. She definately wants you to feel at home. I really enjoyed the quiet, relaxing area. You can sit on the front deck and watch the sunrise. It is a very short walk to the beach which was not crowded at all.
