Total Relaxation and very unique to the northwest Hat Island is a small private island community which is very unique and a tremendous place to come for simple pleasures in life and relaxation. A great place for family gatherings and a safe place for children. During the months of March through May, you will be able to see eagles nesting and gray whales feeding along the shores of Hat Island. Porpoises and Orcas have also been seen.
Everything you need for a short stay is at your disposal, including a washer and dryer and a fully equipped kitchen for you to enjoy. Have a BBQ outside while you sit in the hot tub and relax and watch the sun set after a day of golfing on our own PGA registered golf course with no waiting. Just pay and play.
The yard is large and flat for playing badminton, bocce ball and croquet, or if you feel the need, walk the beaches, go fishing, crabbing or clam digging depending on the time of year. If you enjoy scuba diving, you will find that Hat Island is a great place to scuba dive, bring your own Kayak or jet ski, the water is great.

The owners & care takers were incredibly prompt in responding to our inquiries. The home itself is simply perfect with all the necessary amenities and appointments. There is a water view from the large living room windows that is so wonderful to enjoy in the early morning hours. The island itself offers beautiful beaches, accessible harbor and has an air of peacefulness. The neighbors were very friendly and kind. This is a perfect getaway for family- especially families with young children. There are plenty of inside and outside activities- for all ages. I highly recommend this rental- particularly if you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of your daily life.
We didn't want to leave, everyone was so friendly and our host Larry & Judith were Great! We'll be back very soon.
Our little group hopped onto the Hat Island Ferry with Turkey in tow last week. We craved a retreat from the holiday madness that was about to ensue on the mainland, and that's exactly what we found. We were met at the ferry by one of the wonderful owners who helped us with our bags and brought us to the cozy cabin house that would be our home for the next week. The house is beautiful (other reviewers are right, the pictures do not do it justice) and located right on the golf course. The rooms were comfy and the living room was the perfect place to do some grade-A lounging. We cooked a Thanksgiving feast and found the island residents to be very kind when we had to go asking after some salt, as we forgot to bring any and there isn't a store! We spent our days cooking in the lovely and well-equipped kitchen, EATING, walking around the island looking for shells, playing games, golfing, and sipping wine in the hot tub. The hot tub was awesome- it has a view of Mt. Baker during the day and is under a blanket of stars at night. I highly recommend this property for anyone who wants a quiet and relaxing vacation. We look forward to coming back again sometime soon!
The house looks even better in person than it does in the photos, and although there are several neighboring houses close nearby, the yard was big enough to play the provided bocce ball and yard football games. The house is immaculately clean and the kitchen is equipped with all of the utensils and pots and pans needed to cook a meal. Hat Island does not have any stores or restaurants, so it's the perfect place to go to relax without distractions. You can walk the ~4 miles around the island on the beach at low tide or golf at the course that boarders the back of the house's property. One of the owners of the house, Larry, picked us up in a pick-up truck at the beginning of our stay to take the 4 of us and all of our stuff to the house. Larry lives a couple houses down and was available throughout the weekend - when we couldn't find extra trash bags, he took a break from his golf game to bring us some within minutes of our call. I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation.
If Hat Island is where you want to be, this place will be all you want. You have the view of the sound on one side, and the golf course on the other. The house itself is lovely and has all the extras you may forget. Don't forget, there is NO store on the island. The owners have thought about this, and have many of the extras you might not have thought of, such as staples in the kitchen, TP, shampoo, etc. The only issue I'd warn about is the lack of transportation once you get settled in. It's a short (less than 1/2 mile) to the marina, but if you really want to see the island, it will mean a lot of walking. Be sure and discuss with the owners what transportation may be available and what it will cost before booking. If you like to walk, and don't have small children, you'll be fine, but otherwise this could be an expensive issue. I would stay here again, and not hesitate to recommend the house.
