When the sun goes down relax in the comfortable living room and watch a movie on Netflix, listen to your tunes or simply read a book (ample reading light provided). In the kitchen, newly renovated granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances may inspire the gourmet cook or simply walk across the street where you will find your choice of a popular Mexican restaurant, Japanese or Thai. Other fine restaurants abound in the Kapaa area.

When it is time to sleep, tuck into the large king sized bed and know that your peaceful sleep will be assured by the triple paned sound proof windows, the air conditioning, the black out drapes and and an alarm clock with Ipod dock.

We live in Edmonds, Washington where winters can be long and gray. We love coming out to Kauai where we love the balmy air and beautiful beaches. We feel fortunate to have found WBV where we could enjoy a dynamite view of the ocean and beach at an affordable price. Over the past 10+ years that we have owned the unit we have constantly made upgrades which have enhanced our enjoyment of the unit as well as the enjoyment of our guests.

This review is about my interaction with the owner/manager of the condo since I unfortunately had to cancel my plans and never made it to condo or Kauai. Zoe was great to work with, responded very quickly and was understanding about my change in plans. She refunded my deposit less the cancellation fee and it all took just a few days. I hope to actually get out to her condo one day!! "

Sound proof windows in bedroom gives you a quiet nights sleep. Alarm clock has an ipod dock so that you can listen to music or charge your phone. Kitchen and bathroom newly remodeled with granite counter tops, cherry stained cabinets, and new stainless appliances (also included blender, rice cooker, deluxe coffee maker). Second TV/DVD player in bedroom. Living room includes a sofa, a loveseat, lounge chair with ottoman, dinning table with 4 chairs, and a flat screen tv and access to Netflix. Lanai has a table with 4 chairs and additional attached bar with 2 bar stools, over hanging eaves protect lanai from afternoon sun and rain. Ceiling fans are in bedroom and living room. Queen sized air mattress for use with children or occasional guests. Snorkel equipment, beach chairs, miscellaneous beach toys. Original artwork throughout condo. Beach access just south of condo building. Beach is sandy and is usually good for swimming. Pool side BBQ's available.

Great location

Our honeymoon was amazing at the garden island. The condo offered a great location. We had stores nearby and a million dollar view.

My husband and I enjoyed 2 weeks of paradise in this perfect condo. It had everything that we would want in a vacation condo. It was easy to sink into a relaxation mode. The balcony provided a great place for coffee and breakfast, reading and happy hour drinks. We loved the third floor location with the view and privacy. We enjoyed watching the locals fishing just below us. There are many very good restaurants within walking distance so that is a plus. When we come back to Kauai, we will book this condo again.

Great view but the area is only okay

First off the good: great view of the bay/beach; comfortable bed & the owner was a breeze to work with.

Now for the okay: the condo is a bit dated. It was built in 1972 and is good shape but in need of updating. The walls could use a coat of paint, the furniture is in good shape but dated as well and the patio furniture could definitely use to be replaced. Several lights were burnt out and the dimmer switch in the bathroom made a buzzing sound when it was on and flickered so we just left it off and used the ceiling light instead. The family room ceiling fan blades are actually coming apart at the end but I am sure that is due to the humidity in the air and they probably only last a couple of years at most.

Now for the bad: The area the condo is in is only fair at best. A shell gas station sits across the street and the homeless seem to gather there every evening. There is an old restaurant next door that was damaged in a hurricane in 1992 and it is still there. This condo looks directly at that property. There is also an old hotel across the street that was damaged in the same hurricane and has been closed for the past 25 years as well but they are just starting to renovate that so hopefully it will improve the areas appeal.

As a side note on the owner, we did experience one problem that was not her fault and she was great in addressing it. When we showed up the condo was not clean at all. The bathroom was downright dirty and the kitchen was not much better. I sent the owner an email and received a phone call right back. The cleaning lady had mistaken our arrival date by one day so the condo was not ready for us. My wife ended up cleaning the condo so we could stay there and the owner refunded our cleaning fee for the inconvenience. The cleaning lady showed up a few hours later and apologized for the mix up and returned the next day and cleaned the condo again at no charge. I only bring this point up because the owner addressed the problem immediately and I think that point is worth mentioning.

Enjoyed our stay, would stay again.

Had a wonderful stay. We spent most of our time on the lanai just watching and listening to the waves hit the shore. There was also some surfers and kite surfers to watch. There were some people walking the beach, but not crowded at all. The condo faces south which is nice so you could look way out in the ocean and also along the beach section. There are chairs, surfboard, boogie boards, cooler, and other stuff for your use. Parking was good, there were always spots closest to the stairs. There is things within walking distance but I would recommend a car unless you have no intentions of going around the island. The condo is kind of central so you can go to the end of the north side in about the same time to go to the end of the south side. OK inside, clean, well kept, modern, and a washer/dryer which is very handy. When you arrive check in before you go to the store, there is lots of condiments, there was butter, and a bunch of things that you only need a tablespoon, so rather than buying it, it is there. We left some things we didn‘t use, paying it forward. But a very nice thing than having to buy ketchup, mustard, soy sauce, etc. The door was full of stuff. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone.

Book It ... All you want and need, plus more

The only real negatives to our stay were:

1. The air conditioning unit in the bedroom stops and starts, as intended. However, going from quiet and peaceful to quite loud is sleep disruptive. We didn't use the A/C component. We just ran the fan in the unit, and with that and the ceiling fan, we were OK.

2. Over the week we were here, we never saw anyone in the pool. The water is too cold.

The positives are far more extensive ...

1. Nicely furnished.

2. A great King sized bed.

3. Well stocked kitchen (some utensils could use updating)

4. Nice kitchen appliances.

5. Refurbished nicely, including granite countertops.

6. Well supplied with beach toys, including a surf board.

7. Close to the airport.

8. Quiet. We hardly ever noticed that there were others staying in the resort.

9. And above all, the view off of the balcony is VERY understated in the listing. It is AWESOME. Long sandy beach, waves breaking on shore, kite surfers every day.

10. We had only a couple of occasions to contact Zoe and Marvis. They were both quickly responsive.

11. Safeway and Foodland are both quite close. (A tip ... the kitchen and fridge are already stocked with some items that you might otherwise purchase. Check the inventory before going grocery shopping.)
