About Peter Tanner
We are retired Canadians who enjoy travel and love our area of France. We spend 2-3 months per year in Neffies (with lots of side-trips) and find it the perfect "home" base. We speak French and a little Spanish.
Peter Tanner purchased this House in 2011
Why Peter Tanner chose Neffiès
We lived for a year in Montpellier 30 years ago - and have come back frequently since then. Owning Libellule provides us with an opportunity to spend more time in France, and enjoy the incredibly friendly community of Neffiès, the wonderful activities of Pézenas, and all the sites of the Languedoc area. There is something special in a place where you are a few steps from the village square, a French bakery, an entertaining café, and a first rate restaurant. And everyone in the village greets you as you pass by.
What makes this House unique
Neffiès is extraordinarily well situated to be a base for a wide range of touring. It is just at the boundary of wine making region of Languedoc to the south and the rugged scenic hills of Haut Languedoc. And now, with two local restaurants being awarded Michelin stars, plus the wonderful Very'Table restaurant, every trip to Libellule is a culinary experience. During a stay here you can visit the Roman arena in Nimes, the exciting city of Montpellier, and the medieval castle of Carcasonne, You are 30 minutes from miles upon miles of Mediterranean beaches, or 10 minutes from fresh-water swimming. And then there is nearby Pézenas, with its boutiques, restaurants, festivals - and continuous colourful activity. Check out our website which lists a broad range of places to visit using Libellule as a base.

Traditional Village Home
The owners were very helpful and informative about the property and responded quickly to enquiries. The house was clean and well-stocked - including a bottle of local wine. The village was very traditional and near to sights (car necessary). The rooftop terrace was very pleasant but be advised that there is a steep staircase to access roof. The house itself is accessed by an internal staircase to the main floor.
We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the property.
What a treat it was to call Libellule our home for a week. We loved it there !
We had such a wonderful time staying in the small village of Neffiès in the Languedoc. From the moment we turned the big key in the blue door on Rue du Prince and climbed up to the first floor to the welcoming kitchen-dining room and one of the master bedrooms with en-suite ..we felt like we were coming home! And every day that we toured around the area, following all the little backroads to visit the Saturday market in Pézenas, the canal and locks in Béziers, through the mountains to Roquefort-sur-Soulzon to tour the caves, taste and buy some delicious Roquefort cheese and just exploring all the little places near Neffies we always loved parking in the Place, walking up our little pedestrian street to Libellule. The kitchen was well equipped..Susan and Peter thought of everything to make our stay so enjoyable...lots of dishes, cutlery and glasses, pots and pans to cook up anything you brought home from the market, very comfy bed with quality linens in a good-sized bedroom and so nice to have a lovely en-suite. We sat up on the terrace to enjoy the sunshine and listen to the church bells from the bell-tower just around the corner and enjoyed our evenings in the cosy tv room. Of all the meals we’ve enjoyed along our trip we thought our dinner at the Le Very’table was one of our best meals, inventive courses of amazing dishes and friendly service. Our time was too short to see all we wanted to see but we know that if we do return we will definitely choose to stay at Peter and Susan’s home. The communication between us was great and we appreciated all the wonderful tips on places to visit. Thanks again Peter and Susan.
Excellent location, great place to stay
Very comfortable, clean and well equipped village house - we enjoyed our stay in Neffiès.
Even Better Than Imagined...
We've just concluded an idyllic stay at Libellule and immediately began researching airfare for the next trip there! The house is situated in the most convenient location to the center of the perfectly charming town of Neffies and is within walking distance of two exceptionally good restaurants and a bakery. (We loved being able to park our car after a day of sightseeing and not have to also drive to dinner.)
The house itself was generously equipped for an extremely comfortable stay. It was spotless and (newly?) renovated, but done so in a manner that preserves the character and elegance of the original stone and beams. The bedrooms and bathrooms were generously sized, with ample room for everyone to spread out, with comfortable beds and plenty of storage.
The kitchen was equipped with everything one might need, should one want to prepare a feast or, just do as we did several times and eat a meal of olives, bread, cheese and wine on the rooftop terrace, where we spent most of our time.
Peter and Susan were available and attentive and we felt very well cared for in their home; many thanks!! :)
Spacious, clean, great location
Interesting house in a pretty village. Lots of room, clean, wonderful rooftop deck. Very well equipped kitchen, wifi, english language tv and free telephone! The owner responded immediately to all questions and was both pleasant and helpful. There are a lot of stairs in the house - which was no problem at all for us, but might be a consideration for anyone with mobility issues. Neffies is a good center for touring around that area of France - nice to go back to at the end of the dayl
There are two restaurants with Michelin stars within a few minutes of Neffies - Aponem and Restaurant de Lauzun. Not to mention the incredble Very'Table restaurant in Neffies itself.
