About Philip Klitzke

My wife Jody and I are 50+ self employed Information Technology professionals working in the Twin Cities. We love to travel, swim, canoe, kayak, run, bike and other out door activities. We have five grown children, one grand daughter (7), and a grand son (2). We and our golden doodle Lucas have enjoyed the cabin these past years. Lucas loves to retrieve any thing thrown off the dock. We have purposefully made the cabin 'dog friendly'. We find great satisfaction renting our home to families, friends, groups that need a large, accommodating lake home that is near the twin cities. We really enjoy reading the stories in the guest book. We hope you'll consider our lake home for your vacation plans.

Philip Klitzke purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Philip Klitzke chose Pine City

We bought this cabin because of the water front, and located on the Cross Lake, Snake River, Pokegama water system. There are lots of activities nearby or just snuggle by the gas fireplace with a good book. It's relatively close to the twin cities, yet has a remote cabin feel.

What makes this cabin unique

Lots of space! Open dining, living, kitchen area affords great mingling of a large family gathering. Lots to do for kids or adults. The master bedroom suite with it's own closet and bathroom provides intimacy even when there's a crowd in the house.

An expansive deck extends the openness to outside during the spring-fall seasons. Cool breezes off the lake keep it refreshing even in the hottest summer days. Air conditioning has been installed for those really hot days of summer. There's a very nice fire pit by the lake with colorful chairs.

Wonderful Cabin Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a terrific weekend at this cabin. Lots of space, privacy, beautiful nature and a fully stocked kitchen! Phil and Jody were helpful and very easy to work with. The location of this place is perfect - quick drive from the Twin Cities and sits on a great lake. We can't wait to return again soon!

Wonderful Stay on Cross Lake

  • 5 of 5

This August, three generations of our family (10 adults and 2 little girls) spent a wonderful week at this lake house on Cross Lake. The house is spacious and comfortable! The weather was beautiful, except for one day, so most of our time was spent outside on the huge porch (great view of the lake), or down at the lake swimming or sitting on the sandy beach (very nicely landscaped path to the beach). We ate most of our meals outside where there were plenty of tables and chairs.

As many others have mentioned, this house is very well stocked! We are a family of cooks and everything we needed was available (coffee maker, blender, pots, pans, baking dishes, griddle for pancakes, plastic dishes for kids and more plates, bowls, glasses, mugs, and wine glasses than you will ever need). Down at the beach area there are chairs, a picnic table, beach toys, noodles, floats, life jackets, children’s fishing rods, marshmallow utensils, and a lovely campfire patio. Our group also used the canoe and kayak.

The only negative was that there was a limit on internet data usage which we were not aware of until a week before our visit. This made it stressful because we had no way of knowing how much we were using and even though we attempted to minimize (no streaming) our data usage, we easily went over.

On our one rainy day, we visited the new brewery in Pine City, had delicious pizza delivered to us there, and went across the street to a great playground.

Phil & Jody were pleasant and easy to work with and very accommodating especially when they allowed our adult children to plan a surprise retirement party. We would definitely go back and highly recommend it to other families.

Perfect for our family gathering! Room for all; lots to do; beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

With 5 bedrooms plus 'overflow space' (on the lower level) our family fit comfortably. We cooked a lot (especially on the large gas grill), and could dine in or out with ease. The kitchen is well equipped to cook for a crowd, and the kitchen island counter top made a great buffet line. The large deck is very nice for just hanging out. The path down to the lake is well built with stone steps and lighting, and the fire pit, dock and small sand beach got a LOT of use. The kids (2,5 &6) spent hours playing in the water and sand. The fisherman had a great time. We took bikes to the Munger trail; hiked at Banning State Park, and generally hung out enjoying the property. We were 4 generations, treasuring the ability to be together...

A great summer vacation spot!

  • 5 of 5

We spent most our time out doors! Beautiful wrap around deck with plenty of seating. A nice fire pit down by the lake and love the sandy swim area for the little ones.
