About Philip Klitzke

My wife Jody and I are 50+ self employed Information Technology professionals working in the Twin Cities. We love to travel, swim, canoe, kayak, run, bike and other out door activities. We have five grown children, one grand daughter (7), and a grand son (2). We and our golden doodle Lucas have enjoyed the cabin these past years. Lucas loves to retrieve any thing thrown off the dock. We have purposefully made the cabin 'dog friendly'. We find great satisfaction renting our home to families, friends, groups that need a large, accommodating lake home that is near the twin cities. We really enjoy reading the stories in the guest book. We hope you'll consider our lake home for your vacation plans.

Philip Klitzke purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Philip Klitzke chose Minnesota

We bought this cabin because of the water front, and located on the Cross Lake, Snake River, Pokegama water system. There are lots of activities nearby or just snuggle by the gas fireplace with a good book. It's relatively close to the twin cities, yet has a remote cabin feel.

What makes this cabin unique

Lots of space! Open dining, living, kitchen area affords great mingling of a large family gathering. Lots to do for kids or adults. The master bedroom suite with it's own closet and bathroom provides intimacy even when there's a crowd in the house.

An expansive deck extends the openness to outside during the spring-fall seasons. Cool breezes off the lake keep it refreshing even in the hottest summer days. Air conditioning has been installed for those really hot days of summer. There's a very nice fire pit by the lake with colorful chairs.

Wonderful Stay Again!

  • 5 of 5

This was our group's second year choosing to stay at this cabin for our annual reunion. We look forward each year to getting together during the winter months and having bonfires, playing games, and enjoying the local entertainment. This cabin is so accommodating for a large group, with an open floor plan and plenty of furniture for a group our size. The kitchen had everything we needed to make our meals, we had plenty of blankets and beds for everyone, and the owner was so helpful and nice when we had an issue locking the door when we got there. He also gave us an extra night for free because he didn't have anyone checking out or staying there the night before so a few of us took advantage of that and enjoyed an extra night of vacation! Overall I would definitely recommend staying here. WE had no trouble getting cabs to and from the casino or to the fun local bars and we had everything we needed for a great reunion! Very affordable and fun to stay at!

Absolutely gorgeous cabin, great for big group, and such wonderful hosts!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had the best experience with this cabin. The space is perfect for a large group and is a stunning cabin. We especially loved the big fire pit down by the water. We rented the cabin for a wedding and enjoyed every minute. The bride and groom loved the suite room with the fireplace and private bathroom. The Klitzkes could not have been nicer and more generous, easy going hosts. We would come back in a heartbeat and highly recommend this rental.

New Year's Eve getaway

  • 4 of 5

Overall, a great experience! We celebrated family Christmas and New Year's Eve, there were 8 adults and 5 kids and plenty of room for sleeping. Cabin was decorated nicely, fully furnished and plenty of room for hanging out, playing games and eating. One thing to note, if you want to watch tv, you have to go downstairs as there isn't a tv on the main level. Wasn't a big deal, but with young kids all under 5, we didn't want them running around downstairs without any supervision, so we were all on one level the whole time...and it was quite a bit colder in the basement, which probably isn't a problem in the summer months. This is the only reason I didn't rate it a 5. Pine City is a nice area and also very close to Twin Cities...at at Chubby's one night and Nicoll's one morning and both were excellent! Got in some ice fishing and caught a pile of crappies right in front of the cabin.

I would definitely recommend it!
