Rainbows Breeze: Quiet and peaceful surroundings

Bedrooms 1
Space 800 sq ft
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 1 - 7 nights

About the property

Apartment, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 1-2)

Rainbow’s Breeze is a comfortable, Environmentally Responsible, 1 bedroom apartment located toward the East End of Roatan, on the North Shore.

This large 600+ square foot apartment with 10' ceilings is a walk-out to a large covered deck and spa/plunge pool (shared with owner). Inside the fully furnished apartment is 1 bedroom, 1 bath, living room and kitchen with a full size refrigerator, drinking water, and gas stove. A queen bed, large shower, (with hot water). No power outages, full solar power with battery system provides whole house protection.

Everything you need is included in the rental price: Local cell phone, WiFi Internet, DVD player with numerous movies. Electric is included for 1 week rentals, (except AC*). Nice breezes year around so A/C is generally not needed.

Included is the use of the washing machine once a week for monthly rentals. Drinking water is provided by a Seagull water filter (no chemicals) for water with a special faucet on sink - no need to buy or haul water.

*Even though electric is provided by Solar panels at Rainbows Breeze, usage of the A/C is powered directly from the electric company. The cost of electric is very high on Roatan. $.35-.40 cents per kwh (including all taxes). This is why there is an additional charge for Air Conditioning .

You will be toward the eastern areas of the island with mostly dirt/gravel side roads. Consider renting a 4x4 vehicle if you are planning on exploring further East to Camp Bay during rainy days.

We have a lot of fun UP on the East end of Roatan - a much different experience than the West end. Activities can range from Scuba Diving or Snorkeling, Horseback or Segway Riding, Go fishing, or Sailing on a catamaran or just Sun tan with food and drinks. Further East are more beaches at Paya Bay and Camp Bay.

Perfect place for a great getaway

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay here. Liz was very helpful and informative.

The accommodation was excellent value and was more than adequate. The WiFi was a little weak but that is a common issue throughout the island.

This is a great place for a quiet getaway for a couple that is still close enough to access all the other activities on a day trip. You will not be constantly be bothered by people trying to sell you activities and goods, nor will you be tripping over other tourists. In fact on the days that you choose to stay on the grounds you are likely not to see any other tourist!

Another unplanned benefit was the opportunity to interact with the locals in the nearby fishing village to get some insight into their world if you choose to do so.

The day trips we did generally were to sights visited by expatriates and hard core tourist ie the people that are sailing the world for the last two years and not the throng of regular tourists. This gives you a much different and I beg to say better perspective on the location and experience.

The only reason I didn’t give full marks were that the beach was littered (as most are), WiFi poor and access can be difficult if it is raining making a 4x4 Necessary.

A great trip!

  • 5 of 5

I travel to the island twice a year and I always have a great time at Rainbows Breeze. Its nice to have a full kitchen with full sized appliances when you're staying for a few weeks at a time. Its also wonderful to have a porch with a table and hammock to relax on and the beach only a couple hundred meters away. The dogs are wonderful (I always miss mine when I'm away from home, so its nice to have some furry friends to greet me when I get back to the apartment in the afternoon) and there are plenty of birds to watch (Carib Grackles, woodpeckers, and hummingbirds) in the yard. A very good place to stay for someone who wants to see the whole island, not just the inside of a resort. Good resturants, a grocery, and a gas station are nearby, and because its centrally located on the island you can get the full experience from Camp Bay to West End.

Off the beaten path in Roatan

  • 4 of 5

Even before we arrived, Liz, the owner of the apartment, went out of her way to make sure we were going to be comfortable. This excellent service continued throughout our stay, with Liz providing assistance in organizing different trips and adventures and showing us where the best vegetables and groceries were to be found. The apartment had all of the necessary amenities to make a traveller feel like they were at home, including a complete kitchen. Local kids have constructed a charming sand soccer field at the beach. A car is necessary at this location. We recommend this location to any one who wants to experience Roatan away from the touristy West End but still have access to beaches, villages and beautiful vistas, just a short car ride away.

I loved my stay at Rainbows Breeze. The apartment was clean and maintained well. Liz was more than helpful in suggesting places to go and things to see. I loved the fact that it wasn't among many other resorts. A quiet atmosphere. The beach was well kept (a few plastic bottle were on the shore - washed up from a recent Tropical storm and there was a man working to clean it up). I had to wear bug spray that's for sure because 1st thing in the morning and around 6 p.m. the sand flies come out as they do all over the Island. There are a few small dogs on the property which are well behaved and a joy.

I visited BJ's Backyard in Oakridge and Puky's BBQ in Jonesville. Both are a must to visit! I would recommend Rainbows Breeze to my friends and family.

friendly, helpful owner - poor beach

  • 1 of 5

1) friendly, helpful owner: assisted with transportation, island info, arranged fresh coconuts daily, local bananas

2) nice apartment, nice yard.

1) beach - garbage dump

2) small (invisible) biting bugs 24/7

3) 4 dogs - mildly annoying.

Beautiful apartment!

  • 5 of 5

I've stayed here many times and every time it has been great. The apartment is beautiful and well maintained. It has all the amenities of home plus on-site sercurity and sweet dogs to greet you when you arrive. The location is great for seeing both ends of the island and is far enough away from the "touristy" areas that you get a real feel for the island. Grocery shopping and great restaurants are nearby. There is a beautiful beach right down the road (not even 2 minutes walk) that is nearly deserted during the day and where there are often soccer games in the afternoon. Wonderful for anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation or as a home base for an extended stay.
