About Ineke Steup
We are a couple of 67 and 61 who love traveling. Having lived in Curacao, London, Bangkok and Sydney we now spent our time between Holland and France. The French countryside is unique in the peace and silence it offers. After purchasing the house in 2006 we spent months in renovating and making the house up to our own standard of cosiness and comfort. The houses are decorated with antiques and French bric-a-brac and have a welcoming atmosphere. We hope you will be as enthousiastic of the houses and the environment as we do, with something to offer for everybody and for every age.

Had the most awesomely relaxed stay at La Borie Du Four, would thoroughly recommend!
We were a party of 9 family and friends staying at La Borie du Four from Friday 29th June to Friday 13th July 2018. It is without doubt one of the most amazing places I have ever stayed at. It was a complete home away from home with added extras like the swimming pool. What made it for us also was the abundance of wildlife, we saw toads, swallows, hares, snakes (only little ones...!), hummingbird moths and more. Saved lots of bees in the pool! We basically pretty much lived at the table outside under the Wisteria canopy which was a haven in the shade when the sun was strong.
The decor was charming and we kept finding new things every day as there are so many interesting ornaments, pictures, lamps etc...
Nadine and her sister were absolute gems, like long lost friends and so extremely helpful. Myself and a friend got stuck in Villefranche du Perigord one day and couldn't get a taxi (apparently they are few and far between), so we called Nadine and she dropped everything and came to collect us and brought us and all our shopping from Proxi back to La Borie.
It was so quiet and peaceful with nothing to hear except the occasional breeze rustling the leaves, the birds and bees and the occasional barking dog in the woods. If you want to completely relax and get away from it all, this is definitely the place to visit.
We will hopefully be back.
With many thanks

Beautiful home - beautiful location
18 of us stayed in this beautiful home for two weeks. The houses were lovely and clean and there was plenty of room for us all.
We made good use of all the amenities, the children particularly enjoyed the pool, table tennis and pool table. We had a few games of cricket too. The land surrounding the house is great for exploring on foot or bike.
The nearest village is approx a 5 min drive away so car is essential. The village do a great pizza on Monday night, there is also a small night market where you can buy cooked duck legs and courgette flowers.
This house is never too far from being able to explore different areas of the Dordogne or Lott! There are some beautiful towns near by.
Nadine, the caretaker is amazing, a lovely person with plenty of advice of what to do ... She even recommended mushroom picking to us!! The other great asset was the vegetable garden, it was lovely being able to pick fresh produce from the garden to use with our evening meals.
We used the bread oven to cook a leg of lamb, which is another must.
Would highly recommend this home, and would love to visit again.
La Borie du Four = MAGIC
During the last five years we have stayed at LBF several times. Both houses are very well fitted out, with good beds, convenient and clean bathrooms, cosy living areas and well equiped kitchens. The many terraces ensure sun from dawn to dusk, the bread oven is a delight and the location is superb.
But possibly the best assets are Nadine and Patricia: the housekeeper and her sister the gardener. Nadine will come in to clean daily and knows all about the area and will guide you to unique places. Patricia takes care of the huge grounds and the vegetable garden and will provide you with ultra fresh fruit and vegetables during your stay.
We'll be back!
Home away from home!
We had a wonderful holiday at this property - the owner is incredibly friendly and helpful, the property is lovely - obviously very well loved as a home and as a result its not clinical and boring like most rental places. It's well loved and lived in and has everything you could possibly need. With a private pool, gym, and your own vegetable garden what more could you need!? plus your own housekeeper Nadine who couldn't do more for us, she was perfect - recommending everything from local wines to trips out in the local area, stuff we'd have missed without her knowledge.
My whole family - ranging from my 96 year old grandmother to my 4 month old son had a wonderful time here - we'll be back!!!
Useful notes - property is very rural you'll need a car, but means if you have kids you can make lots of noise in the pool - no neighbours!
Thank you Sue and family for your very complimentary review, I am glad that you enjoyed your time at La Borie du Four. And, of course, you are very welcome to come back.
La Borie du Four exceeded all of our expectations!
A really big thank you from all of us!
From the time we booked the house in Villafrench there was a period of silence (no questions asked and no answers given)…. and I started to think subconsciously that the place maybe did not exist at all. Then I asked loads of questions and you were incredibly polite and efficient with your answers. In truth, we did not know what to expect, and as we drove along the roads towards our final destination, the children were playing a game of ‘who could spot the house first’ – and looking at properties in detail they were quick to say the sort of house they wanted La Borie Du Fours to be… in the end, when we did finally arrive the house exceeded all of our expectations. We loved the week there and especially the time we spent at the house… it was simply delightful.
I would like to say a big thank you from the whole party… and to also mention a couple of things I forgot to say in my farewell note… 1) We used the bread oven - and thoroughly enjoyed the experience… we cooked both Pizzas and a leg of lamb… both delicious… but would suggest you offer a little more detail in the stacking, lighting and control of the oven to guests in future (maybe a laminated sheet hung on the wall outside the oven itself… with hints and tips… and maybe even a known and favourite recipe?) And 2) Your - top 5 things to do and see – we did them all… with the one exception of the Farmers Market… we intended to go there on our last night, but instead favoured a meal out together – our children are really too young for a late night especially with the prospect of a 14 hour drive back the following day… so this was sadly missed… something we could one day return to perhaps.
Please feel free to use me as a reference or as an endorsement for your website… not that you would need to - as I feel anyone visiting there will want to return again the following year… so once again, many thanks for making our 2009 holiday very, very special.
Mel, Sue and the rest of the team who visited last week.
wow, the most relaxing holiday ever!
We rented La Borie du Four for two weeks in August 2008. We stayed with three families, 6 adults, 7 teenagers, 5 children and two dogs, an easy fit. LBF turned out to be a magical place, two very well maintained farmhouses in the middle of huge grounds. A pool with a view, a sauna, a fitness centre, a pool table, table tennis table, in short nothing left to be desired`.
The owners must be foodies like us, both kitchens are fitted out with new equipment, Le Creuset pans and even Nespresso machines. The vegetable garden was a delight, we made good use of it!
Breakfast on the new terrace of la Figue, dinner at the pool or on the terrace of La Chataigne. The children were building huts while we were lounging at the large pool. Nadine, the French caretaker, came daily for some cleaning and advise, she really knows all about the area.
And there is a lot to see and do: canoeing on the Dordogne, three nice golf courses within driving distance, castles, ruins and bastilles abound, don´t miss Monpazier...
Although the price is steep, we will be back next year.
Le Perigord Noir, in the South Dordogne region, dates back to medieval times and is a world unlike any other. With panoramic views of lush green valleys bordered by high riverside cliffs, tiny castles, winding country lanes, medieval villages, pretty harbours and lauze stone roofed cottages, the Perigord scenery is second to none.
The surrounding countryside offers crystal clean air and fertile ground in which truffles, nuts and mushrooms flourish. Local farmers breed geese and ducks, thus providing the world’s most exquisite foie gras, and vineyards produce globally acclaimed wines. Local village life sports delightful bars, restaurants, boutiques and markets. Right on your Perigordian doorstep, you’ll discover the surrounding area including the bastide town of Domme, medieval, Renaissance and 17th Century attitude in Sarlat. and the Riverside town of Le Roque-Gageac.
Whether you prefer slow strolls and lazy boat rides, or vigorous bike rides and hikes, you’ll find it here.
Other Activities: pool table, table tennis table, Webber bbq, gas bbq, jeu de boules court, fitness room.
Golf: Three lovely 18holes golfcourses are located within 30 miles from la Borie du Four.
