Welcome to our home away from home! This is our family home with beautiful views and we are excited to share it with you. We hope you find it as relaxing and enchanting as we do!
The house is comfortable and spacious, two-story, has a yard to play in, a patio downstairs and an upstairs deck. One of the main reasons why we bought this house is for its proximity to Rocky Mountain National Park, which begins right behind the house or a short drive down the road. We also love the abundant wildlife in the area such as deer, elk, moose, and red foxes that we see often. We just visited the house and saw nine moose in three days of hiking!
We also adore the town of Grand Lake, which you can walk to in 10-15 minutes from the house, it is small and quaint but with lots of activities. It has some great restaurants that we frequent such as: great barbeque at Sagebrush, delicious Mexican food at Poncho and Lefty's, an elegant dinner at The Rapids Lodge, and yummy pizza at Grand Lake Pizza.
Come see why we instantly fell in love with this house and view!

About Kevin or Lisa Selden
My wife and I have been coming to Grand Lake for over 30 years and we were engaged in Grand Lake. As a family we enjoy Colorado each year in both the winter and the summer. Our daughter got married here in June 2013!!
Kevin or Lisa Selden purchased this House in 2012
Why Kevin or Lisa Selden chose Grand Lake
The house sits on a hill behind the town of Grand Lake with breathtaking views. Rocky Mountain National Park is practically in our backyard and the views of Mt. Baldy and Grand Lake are unbeatable. We also love the town of Grand Lake, it is small and quaint but with lots of things to do. We can relax and find peace or have an adventure, it's all here.
What makes this House unique
You can walk to town in about 10-15 minutes or drive down the hill and you are in town, we love walking to the lake or having dinner downtown. Hike to RMNP trailheads from our doorstep, or just hike around the hill behind the house for a stunning view of the mountains and lakes. Enjoy our unobstructed views of Mount Baldy, Grand Lake, and Shadow Mountain Reservoir from our upper deck. Alpenglow at sunset on Mt Baldy is breathtaking and then gaze at the incredible night sky and stars from our patio furniture. We also love going snowshoeing and snowmobiling in the winter, which you can do just a short distance from the house. There is also some great hills behind the house that are perfect for sledding.

Million Dollar View! Fabulous House, Great Location, Better than the pics!
This place was awesome! We had two families (11 of us) and there was plenty of room, no one was on top of each other everyone had plenty of space. The teens enjoyed the bunk room and downstairs area. We were there for a wedding at the Double A barn and the location was perfect! Some of the teens walked to town and back, (short walk down the mountain to town but a little more strenuous coming back) which was great as they had their freedom to walk or ride.
We had a fox in the yard one evening, a group of bucks across the road one morning and a group of does across the side yard one morning. The view towards the lake was amazing! When the sun came in the windows in the morning and that view looked at you, you knew you were in God's country............
We cooked and the kitchen had everything we needed, along with a crock pot and mixer.........And it didn't feel like you were in a rental unit using crappy kitchen supplies. The pantry had plenty of condiments and misc that were sharable, which was not expected.
Everyone slept well, meaning the beds were comfy....... we would rent this again in a heart beat!
Great vacation rental
Thank you so much allowing us to stay in your home!! It was just perfect for my family and myself, more then enough room very clean and the views were unbelievable!! We came from Texas for my son's wedding, I was in complete Aww the moment we arrived in Denver, as we ventured to Grand Lake the mountains, trees were spectacular!! When we finally arrived to your house and everyone picked there room and took in the views of the lake we already felt like our trip there was worth it. We got to see fireworks from your balcony (a pleasant surprise) we also were visited by deer 2 mornings in a row-we witnessed snow one morning on the mountain top and saw the snow melt off the mountain which was so beautiful. Thank you again for giving us this opportunity to have stayed again in a home with so much warmth!! I will definitely stay here if I'm ever back in Colorado !
Wonderful House Above Grand Lake
Wonderful, spacious home for a Grand Lake vacation. Incredible views. Very conveniently located: Getting to downtown on foot is easily done, getting back on foot is somewhat strenuous, but possible.
Loved the Colorado House
We found the Colorado House spacious for our 9 member family, clean, comfortable with a fantastic view from the panoramic windows in the upstairs. Grand Lake was nice and not so crowded as Estes. The wildlife was very good in the valley. Good hikes available too. All in all we would love to return to this home.
All you could ask for
Hilltop House was awesome! Great location, close to downtown Grand Lake, great view, quiet neighborhood, very well-appointed house. My family of six had tons of space to stretch out, eat, cook and relax after hiking or walking around town. We would definitely stay here again.
Quiet, comfortable. And the view ...
We forgot this was someone else's house: that's how comfortable we felt. No hesitation in renting again. Just perfect in every way we considered important.
Our house is on the hill behind the town of Grand Lake, at the end of a quiet street. We are 5 minutes from downtown and have a bird's eye view of it, but we are NOT on highway 34 which can be very noisy. There are views of many peaks, including Mt. Baldy, and great views of both Grand Lake and Shadow Mountain Reservoir. The house is also a very short walk down the hill from Grand Lake Lodge (5 minutes) or a 7 minute drive, as well as Rocky Mountain National Park starting right behind our property. We wholeheartedly believe that our location, view and atmosphere are spectacular and can't be beat!
