The Hawthorne Cabin is located in Fern Valley, 1/2 mile from the upper end of the village and on the way to Humber Park, the hub of most hiking trails. The cabin was completely rebuilt in 1998 so it is very insulated, making it extremely comfortable. It has a Master Bedroom downstairs with a Queen Bed, and a full bath. Upstairs is a private bedroom with a Queen Bed & twin trundle beds (2-twins). There is a bathroom with a shower in this bedroom. There is a big TV & DVD player, a gas BBQ outside on the back deck, and a large SPA. The back yard is fenced and the cabin is Pet Friendly.
I am an Innkeeper with 2 Boutique hotels in Idyllwild California, and a handful of off-site houses. I've been in business for 20 years.
Chris Singer or Assistant at Silver Pines Lodge purchased this cabin in 1996
Fern Valley is known as the 'Cream de la cream' area of Idyllwild. The 'upscale' part. When we purchased the home, it was an aging 40 year old cabin. It burned to the ground after an incident with a guest and an old electric blanket. So we rebuilt it.....same floor plan but nicer and better than ever!
It is in a quiet neighborhood. Easy street walking all around. The front deck is big and sunny. The inside has high ceilings and it's all knotty pine. You can walk about 1/2 a mile and be at Cafe Aroma or the Creekhouse Restaurants. Many guests have wanted to purchase this cabin after staying there. It's just 'comfortable'.
We have stayed in about 10 different cabins over the years in Idyllwild and Hawthorne was is our favorite, by far. It was clean, cozy, enough good lounging space for our family, and worked great for our puppy. The fireplace is wonderful. We appreciated the flat driveway and easy access to the house. This would be an easy cabin to access when the ground is icy. I loved that the upstairs bedroom had a full bath and a door that closes, it is not an open loft area. We will be back.
My husband and I stayed her for a few nights back in July for his birthday. This place is just incredible. Its spacious and clean. definitely a lot more space than what is shown on the photos. we were so amazed by how quiet it was around here. the front porch was great. we had breakfast there and played scrabble. the backyard was kinda small, but it didn't matter because the jacuzzi was nice and clean and at night time the stars were beautiful. booking and directions were easy. they even provided a forest parking pass when we went to explore the mountains, and didn't have to pay for it.
I'll definitely be staying here again!
My Wife and I along with another couple just returned form a great 2 night stay at this cabin. Everything was very cozy and well kept. The FIREPLACE WAS AWESOME! The pictures do not do the fireplace justice, it is way bigger than it looks and was probably my favorite feature. It was the perfect size for 2 couples/4 people, but you could definitely sleep more if needed. The front deck was great for morning coffee and listening to birds. The property is very quiet and relaxing. You have neighbors close by, but the Idyllwild setting is so great it doesn't matter. It is a longer walk to town, but doable if you don't mind a bit of a walk.
The only thing that needs a little love it the spa, dont get me wrong we used it both nights and it felt great, it just wasn't very clean. After a 7 mile hike though we didn't care.
Overall a great cozy cabin that I highly recommend.
