Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-7)

Chesabelle is our Belle of the Bay. This fully renovated beach house is stylishly appointed with stunning views across a small estuary into the Bay. The house features an open floor plan for easy entertaining. See diverse wildlife including, herons, swans, ospreys, bald eagles, and pelicans as you cook, read, or relax on the screened-in porch. Or, grab a beach chair or towel and head for the private sandy beach just steps away. Kayak or bicycle - the world is your oyster here.

Back in the house, the open floor plan, complete with a well-equipped kitchen, dining room, and sitting room with TV and porch + deck allows a family or group to be together whether cooking, playing games, watching television or just relaxing. The wood burning stove makes winter days at Chesabelle as enticing as summer days. Enjoy a weekend wine tasting at nearby Woodlawn plantation - Slack wine dot com.

A short bike ride away is Point Lookout State Park, a Civil War site. Today the park, which is located on the point where the Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac River meet, hosts miles of protected land set aside for biking, kayaking, boating, fishing, camping or enjoying nature as well as a museum that provides a historical perspective on the region. Or charter a boat at one of many local marinas for a day of fishing on the Bay. Another nearby historical site is St. Mary's City (10 miles), the original capital of Maryland.

Visitors are 25 minutes from dining and shopping on Solomon's Island or in historic Leonardtown. Or enjoy one of several local marina restaurants. Want a day trip away? All that the nation's capital has to offer is a short 80 miles away.

Collect shells and beach glass while walking uninterrupted for miles along the sandy beach. Unlike typical cheek-by-jowl beach houses, Chesabelle offers its visitors direct Bay views while nestled on a 1/2 acre of land. Enjoy rare, unimpeded waterview privacy and access so close to major cities and amenities.

Beautifully appointed cottage with just enough of everything!!!I spent the best “Friendsgiving“ever!

Chesabelle is perfectly “set back” and nestled into the surrounding wooded area to keep those of us who desire privacy, peace and quiet in an intimate surrounding, paramount to the meaning of what a vacation is all about.

Even in the full bookings that Summer brings to Scotland Yards, Chesabelle remains “removed” ...far from any possible maddening crowd(though that is a delightful rarity in this classic beach community!).

She remains her modest yet decidedly chic retreat in a most lovely part of the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay.

Thank you ,as always, for paying attention to that which surrounds her...and providing the “exquisite” in a charmingly remoteand rural landscape.

Pleasant and relaxing for 4 adults and 3 kids. Very happy with it!

House great! Beach awesome! Jellyfish never showed up! I would take boogie boards for kids next time! Great road for walks with little kids, bikes too. St. Mary's Museum well worth the short trip for a day. It's a living museum and they were great with the kids. We mostly hung out at Chesabelle and beach. So nice!

The house was very cute. Lovely linens! It does need additional pots and pans.

I did like the property. We did have an ant problem. Had a great vacation!! Did have jelly fish occasionally. But we did have lots of fun at the beach and kayaking. Overall a good experience!

Relaxed at the beach everyday. Drove to Solomons for restaurants, fireworks and boat rentals. Laid back and fun July 4th vacation.

Beautiful house in a secluded location

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I came here with our dog for a short 3-day getaway. Clean house, beautifully decorated, and less than a 5 minute walk from the beach which was just down the street. Bigger grocery stores were a half hour drive, but you can find everything you need in the Dollar General or local market 10 mins away. We had the beach to ourselves most of the time with only maybe 1 or 2 other couples/families dropping in once a while. Definitely make sure to put on bug spray before going to the beach, especially in the evenings. We would definitely love to return next summer!

Chesabelle is a bright little house.

  • 5 of 5

Chesabelle is a bright little house across the road from the bay. The view is wonderful across the estuary. The herons and osprey entertained us with fishing and the frog chorus put us to sleep each night. We biked, hiked and kayaked. Local food was very good and trips to St. Mary's, Leonardtown, and Lexington Park were filled with history, aircraft, architecture, lighthouse, boat ride and adventure. Point Look Out Park was a great place to hike and observe. Not much retail therapy but great grouper therapy (crab cakes actually). Actually we loved all the museum gift shops and craft shops in Leonardtown.
