About Joyce Lopes

Tony and Joyce Lopes built this house in 1991. Joyce, now widowed, is traveling more for longer periods of time. Her motorhome enables her to see and stay at many of her favorite locations.

'I am happy to open my house to others as my 'guests' and hope they enjoy the house and location as much as I have over the years.'

Joyce Lopes purchased this house in 1990

Why Joyce Lopes chose Fairhaven

My husband and I had this home built to our specification because it is located on a little piece of paradise. Love for the ocean and beautiful sunsets made this our top location priority.

What makes this house unique

Sconticut Neck has it all, it is quaint, private, and close to everything you'd ever want to have access to. Fine dining mom-and-pop restaurants, walking trails, nature and the sea. Beautiful sunsets and panorama waterfront views are surely to relax and sedate you. Also close to UMass-D and BCC campuses for those needing housing for the school year.

Joyce is extremely nice and greeted us upon arrival to show us a few things. The view from the bedroom and deck are million dollar views.

A peaceful retreat to recharge the soul...

  • 5 of 5

My best girlfriends and I recently stayed and we loved it. On the edge of a nature preserve, the serenity and wildlife are just amazing. If you are looking for quiet and private, this is for you. Joyce made us feel very welcome and comfortable in her home. The private beach is so perfect for seashell hunting and just relaxing. The views from the decks and multiple windows in the home are magnificent. We also took a day trip on the ferry to Martha's Vineyard, the ferry is about 15 minutes away. This is a sleepy little town that is a hidden gem. It is truly a quintessential coastal New England town and it is lovely. Thank you Joyce!!! ❤️

Just what I needed after working everyday to empty my moms home - returning to the beach house rejuvenated me and allowed me to get up and go each day. I delighted in coming back each night for a spectacular sunset. Felt at home comfortable and all I needed was available Joyce was helpful with any questions I may have had. The only part I wasn't happy about was leaving! Highly recommend & hope to return again.

Owner's Response: Thank you Patti for your kind words. The pure fact that you immersely enjoyed being my guest is the reason I share my home with people as yourself. It is quite satisfying to receive such a good review. Although it has been a wonderful experience to do vacation rentals throughout summer vacations I am in the process of doing a 2-year long term rental beginning the first of year. I feel it has come a time to take my motorhome cross-country next summer thus preventing from me the ability of summer vacations that gives me joy! I will miss all the guests I would of met....All great people. I hope to see you again upon my return. Thanks again for being a great guest !!! Warm Regards, Joyce

Labor Day weekend 2015

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful way to end the summer! We enjoyed the beautiful sunsets from the deck. Watching as the red/orange sun dipped down below Buzzards Bay...absolutely stunning. The private beach was terrific. It was like it was our very own! We were the only people! We enjoyed great restaurants and local fresh seafood.Joyce is a fantastic hostess! Her house was spotless and has everything you could possibly need. I would highly recommend Joyce and her beautiful home. We will certainly return! Couldn't have had a better experience! Thanks again Joyce for allowing us into your home!

The house and setting are wonderful. The master suite is spectacular, great view, nice balcony, great bathtub with water jets. The kitchen is nice with most utensils that you would need. The owner has beach chairs other things that make life easier for the guests. The place was clean and well kept. There is a nice bike path within 2 miles of the house. Great place to stay in the hot weather as there was always a nice breeze off Buzzards Bay.

Owner's Response: And for times like this recent heat wave, the central A/C was a much needed necessity that, without it, could have ruined one's vacation. A special 'Thank You' Peg for being such wonderful caring guests! Hope to see you again in beautiful Fairhaven!!

Visit to Fairhaven from Canada

  • 5 of 5

We visit family in Fhvn regularly. This rental was great! Joyce was wonderful! The house was clean/neat, generally well-maintained, nicely decorated and had so many incredible features. It was close to amenities (4-min drive to supermarkets, stores, restaurants, major highways; a 2 min drive to West Island). The house location provided great privacy in a very quiet area facing the beach across the street.. with our own private path to it. The house had a great lay-out, w/LOTS of room, a tremendous about of storage/closets/chests in bedrooms, huge luxurious main bathroom, glass sliding doors facing gorgeous water views of the harbor/ocean from 2nd and 3rd floor levels. Central air conditioning and extra fridge on the upstairs floor came in handy. The master bedroom was so spacious it took up the entire front/side of the house and even had sliding doors that opened onto a little corner porch with rocking chairs. Each morning we'd open the curtains to breath-taking views and each evening we'd watch lovely sunsets (when the weather permitted!) We used the binoculars a lot! The open concept of the kitchen/livingroom was fantastic, with lots of comfortable seating and great views of the water and wildlife..(shore birds, many bunnies who shared the property with us.. even deer...2 were roaming around outside and went onto the beach just across the street before they made their way back to the wooded area nearby ! Amazing). Oh, did I mention the view?!.. shoreline/beach from the kitchen, LR, BR, BA, wrap-around porch..just about everywhere in the house. It was and night!. When family/friends came to visit, we had great areas for entertaining, including the porches and a big kitchen island. After visiting us, none of our guests wanted to go home. Neither did we! I can't say enough good things about Joyce and her home! On the practical side, we did request a few additional items when we arrived (being the first renters of the season and into cooking). Joyce was quick to help and supply them (e.g.,extra keys, a first aide kit, and garlic press). The coffee maker was a bit challenging so we ended up buying one to use there and take back to Canada with us(we needed one anyway.. be sure to check out Ocean State Job Lot for great deals). The only 2 things I would have changed were weather/ticks. The month of May is always risky for both, but the house/location made up for it! And Pete caught many striped bass! Thanks, Karen/ Judy/Pete/Leah and my Mom
