About Sheree Rasmussen

I am a textile artist and garden designer, and spend most of my time on my country property, where I have my art studio, enjoy nature and have a massive garden.

Sheree Rasmussen purchased this house in 2001

Why Sheree Rasmussen chose Toronto

I love the city house, but don't need to be in Toronto as often anymore. We bought the house because of it's charm, and history, as well as the neighbourhood. It's over 100 years, old, and the street was once a market garden area, never industrial. We put a lot of work into renovating the house, while keeping it's unique charm.

What makes this house unique

The house is over 100 years old, feels more like a cottage, and was originally part of a farm. It's a wonderful place to spend time in the midst of a big city. It's very quiet, yet right in the middle of an interesting neighbourhood, and close to downtown.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What a great secret place you have in the middle of the big city... an oasis of quiet and ingenuity. We had a grand time.

Cozy and Inviting

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay here! The home is cozy and inviting; it felt like home right away. Everything we needed was right at hand. The backyard was especially great for my two kids. Thanks again.

Artsy, clean and spacious - really stayed quiet at night even though it was in the city.

  • 4 of 5

My family of 6 had a nice time at this quirky, artsy home. We walked everywhere, except for a couple of short trips to a bigger grocery down Bathurst. Plenty of restaurants and subway access within a 20 min walk. Casa Loma was a longer walk, but doable. It's amazing! We have 4 kids and did have to bring an extra air mattress for our little one who couldn't share a bed in the basement (she needed to be closer to parents in the loft). But if you have older kids the basement is perfect! Feels very rustic and secluded even though you're in a relatively busy area. Quiet at night. Thankful for all of the books and the piano! Kitchen was awesome. Thank you for a great place to stay! Be aware only full shower/bath is in basement (half bath on main level), but we made it work and the hot water never struggled, even with all the people using it! If you're an artsy type you will love this house!

Delightfully private, great access to all transportation and a kitschy area.

Backyard was cozy, little overgrown, raccoons were a surprise! Enjoyed having access to homemade meals, and a pantry that we could top up with what we were missing. Thank you very much for the opportunity to enjoy Toronto, in air conditioned comfort.

Eccentric, yet practical!

  • 4 of 5

We grew to love this little house as well as the neighborhood in which it sits. The house is full of interesting architectural additions and features- not to mention loads of books and art! Easy access to transportation options and many, many businesses in walking distance. Too bad we had so few days to stay!

Cozy, artsy hideout in nice neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

This cozy cottage is an art major's dream vacation house. The back room opens up with a huge window onto the back patio, inviting nature into the setting. Books and artworks line the walls. Located near Christie & St Clair, the location is easy to access via public transportation: we didn't have to start the car for 4 days. An ample kitchen, two washrooms, and plenty of seating make this Home Away the best deal in Toronto.
