About Sheree Rasmussen

I am a textile artist and garden designer, and spend most of my time on my country property, where I have my art studio, enjoy nature and have a massive garden.

Sheree Rasmussen purchased this house in 2001

Why Sheree Rasmussen chose Toronto

I love the city house, but don't need to be in Toronto as often anymore. We bought the house because of it's charm, and history, as well as the neighbourhood. It's over 100 years, old, and the street was once a market garden area, never industrial. We put a lot of work into renovating the house, while keeping it's unique charm.

What makes this house unique

The house is over 100 years old, feels more like a cottage, and was originally part of a farm. It's a wonderful place to spend time in the midst of a big city. It's very quiet, yet right in the middle of an interesting neighbourhood, and close to downtown.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What a great secret place you have in the middle of the big city... an oasis of quiet and ingenuity. We had a grand time.

Cottage like home in the City

  • 4 of 5

This is a very nice cottage like home in the city. The house is 114 years old and is decorated with Sheree's artwork throughout which adds an art gallery feel to the home. Kitchen is well appointed with all the tools you need to cook your meals if needed. Fabulous park like back yard. Great quiet neighborhood with many dining choices within walking distance including Starbucks, other casual and ethnics foods and a couple of pubs. 3 minute walk to public transit which is very reasonably priced and easy to navigate. Fenced in parking off the alley is a bonus.

Unique gem in great location!

  • 5 of 5

This was a fantastic find in the city! We love to stay in neighborhoods instead of the tourist areas, and this did not disappoint. There is a commercial area with many restaurants and an amazing urban grocery store a few blocks away. There are also many parks in which my son would run daily. The subway is easily accessible, but we did not use that as much as we thought we would be because it was so easy to walk everywhere. The house is extremely charming with an incredible collection of art and books. The kids loved to have their own "hangout/sleeping" area downstairs. We would definitely recommend this property for anyone who really wants to experience Toronto and it's wonderful neighborhoods.

Great house in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 (three kids 8, 10 and 12) had a great stay at the Cozy Cottage. It is close to St. Clair with a huge selection of restaurants- we especially enjoyed Vannis for pizza! The streetcar on St. Clair was not running due to construction, but is was only a few blocks to walk to the subway. We never used our car once we got to the city. The subway and streetcars got us to all the great sites of Toronto. It is only about a 20 minute walk to Casa Loma. The house is great with all the comforts of home! There are plenty of places to sleep and room to spread out, there was wifi in the house (we did not have cell phone coverage in Canada so this was great) the kitchen was great (we were out exploring so we only used it for breakfast, but looked to have all you would need). We would definitely stay here again if we make it back to Toronto. The owner responded promptly to any questions I had before we arrived. Thanks for sharing your home!!

Neat House/Location

  • 5 of 5

We travelled to Toronto for a few Blue Jays games. We really enjoyed our stay at this house. Really neat decor with all the different art. The location was wonderful as we were able to walk to the subway and take that downtown. Also, great little restaurants within walking distance. Sherri was incredibly helpful giving information in emails and the response time was very good to the questions we had. There was also an information package for us to look at for the area when we arrived. If we travelled to Toronto again we would try and stay here again.
