Be prepared for an unforgettable vacation in this historic 1917 farmhouse that's the jewel of famous Maxwelton Beach. Enjoy an evening campfire at the private beach, right across the road from the farmhouse, while viewing a gorgeous sunset backed by the Olympic Mountains. The beach is perfect for swimming, kayaking, walking and playing volleyball. Visit where it all began on Whidbey Island with the Dave Macki Park just a short walk down the quiet road. What could be more fun than a baseball diamond and playground at the beach! You are only steps away from one of Whidbey Island's most beautiful beaches.
Completely restored and refreshed, this home is light and bright with views, from almost every window, of the 65 acre farm, Useless Bay, Maxwelton Valley and cows and sheep that graze on the property and on the hillside above. All the classic farmhouse charm remains but with updated furniture and modern appliances. The house sleeps up to 12 in beds, with a few private nooks off the bedrooms for the kids (or grown-ups) to camp. These nooks are perfect for portable cribs, too! Bring your family and friends to revel in the beauty of a hilltop farmhouse that's big and roomy but still has a cozy feel. Enjoy the privacy and convenience of upper and lower units each with their own entrance, kitchen, baths and bedrooms, perfect for multiple families or for the grandparents to have their own space and quiet. Wander down to the private beach for a swim or with a book to relax or just walk the beach a mile or so to unwind. Play a rousing game of volleyball on the sand volleyball court!
A breathtaking view of Useless Bay and it's gorgeous sunsets is a perfect back drop for a memorable vacation. There is no place like this anywhere else on Whidbey Island. Come and enjoy the splendor!

About Sonja Ringsrud
My husband and I have lived on Whidbey Island for about 15 years. We have 3 young children who keep us very busy. My extended family has owned the Maxwelton Farmhouse and the adjoining farm since 1955. We have a small family cabin on the property. I grew up spending my summers (and any other spare time) on this property and the beach. We are so exited to share this magical property with you! There is no other place like it! Once you experience it, I'm sure you'll agree!

Has all that a large group needs for a relaxed get-away
Very comfortable house with fully stocked kitchen and lots of "hanging out" space. Beautiful views.
Perfect Extended Family Home
Everything was perfect about this home. We were on Whidbey for my nephews wedding at Fireseed. All the aunties and their adult children, spouses, one grandbaby and a dog, fit perfectly into this beautiful home across the street from the water. It was such a plus to have a family dinner on Friday night and we all sat at the huge dining room table. Walks on the beach were an added plus. We never left the home! There were plenty of bathrooms for all of us to get ready for the wedding. We could not of asked for a more perfect place for our family and Sonja was so accommodating and patient with all of our questions. We will be back for another family visit soon so we can explore the island this time.
Amazing location and Views!
I hosted a 3 day meeting on the island with 12 people and this house could not have worked BETTER! There was plenty of room for us to gather during the day as we met. the ability to walk and experience the beauty was also a plus for many that were not from the area. The host of the house was great and very helpful. I will for sure use this house again.
Such a cool and unique house!
I rented this place for some guests of my wedding over this past weekend and they all loved it! The location is perfect right off the water. The views are unreal. There are some friendly sheep located on the property, close enough to enjoy their presence but not intrusive to your stay. The house itself is well kept and just overall a great rental. A quick drive into Langley or Freeland as well. Highly recommend! Also the rental company was extremely responsive and easy to plan with!
A Wonderful Family Home
Five bedrooms, comfortable, spacious inside and out, a lovely site and outlook---what's not to like? For the second year we hosted our five kids and their six kids from Seattle, Southern California and Japan for a five day get together. They all loved it, of course; what's not to like.
The house is across a little-used road from the beach and a fire pit. The house is large, comfortable and well furnished. The kitchen is equipped well enough, and the appliances are reliable. The outlook faces the water and the Olympic mountains; it's truly beautiful.
It's quiet and peaceful; there's ample parking, and both a Weber kettle and a gas grill; and a large, grassy yard for play.
This Farmhouse is uniquely large, and one of just a few places on Whidbey that could accommodate our now extended family. We're all looking forward to our third get together in 2018.
Perfect home in a fabulous location!
Highly recommend this home and owner. Excellent for our group of 16.
Kids played beach volleyball via flashlight until 9:30pm.
Everything in the home was very clean and worked well.
