Perfect for a family; Clean and Friendly

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was absolutely perfect! I will recommend it to all of my friends and family and fully intend to return to the area and I would not consider staying anywhere else. Our vacation consisted of a road trip from FL and we used this as a home base. We saw Charlestown, SC the first day, arriving late at the cottage where the owners had everything warm and ready for us. The next day we went into town, after a great recommendation from the owners for a place to have breakfast, and then did some local gem mining. With daylight left, we decided to drive to see Craggy Gardens north of Asheville - an amazing view of the Smokey Mountains and a beautiful, scenic drive. Once again we got home too late to utilize the full kitchen, but were uber grateful for the really (REALLY) comfortable beds! The next day we went to TN, Ruby Falls in Chattanooga, driving through two National Forests and passing the most beautiful river and white water rapids! Small children, long car rides, my daughter's special blanket got covered in chocolate milk - it was so nice to go "home" and find the pantry stocked with laundry detergent and we were able to wash and dry all the laundry of 2 small children. On a side note, also about children, the mine right behind the cottage - across the highway - was perfect! They let us set up a play-yard for the littlest one right at the flume and let my daughter play all over the property when she was tired of mining, but we weren't done. So this cottage is very convenient to that activity. Maybe a 5 minute drive all said and done, if that. Last day we put the furniture back to where it was supposed to be, returned all of the cute decor I didn't want my daughter to break, and headed out. To be honest, I wish we had more time. The cottage had great hot water, an abundance of towels, dishes, pots and pans, a fun layout and upstairs a twin as well as queen bed... so it actually did sleep a full 5 people. Oh and the meadow behind it was huge and a great place for kids to run. Honestly I would never consider another place. I looked at a lot of cottages and this was the only one that seemed to have easy access, paved roads, but still had a view and a secluded (but not too secluded) feel. The privacy of the loft bedroom will be nice when we come back. And plenty of room for play yards to be set up as cribs if you need them (but bring them-none there.. and actually I think that's better anyway). Gas heat worked well. I'm out of room! I could go on..

July 4th

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed this awesome little cottage. The home was perfect for a July 4th getaway. It couldn't have been any cleaner and the comfort was wonderful! I was able to enjoy my hobby of bird photography right off the back porch (red-bellied woodpeckers, robins, bluebirds, to name a few). The neighborhood is so peaceful and quiet, but since it was July 4th, we were treated to our own fireworks show from the back porch, courtesy of the neighbors. We are so glad to have found this awesome place and it was a pleasure to meet Larry and Peggy, and we sure hope that when we decide to return to the area, this home is available. Thanks for your hospitality!

Wonderful Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at this charming country cottage. It is very convenient to Franklin and the surrounding the area. We came to Frankln to celebrate our 10th anniversary and had a great time. We visited a few of the local waterfalls and were lucky enough to see "The Shadow of the Bear" on Whiteside Mountain. We were also lucky to have found Larry and Peggy's cabin as our place to stay. It is immaculately clean and well maintained. All of Peggy's decorative touches make you feel right at home. The bed was very cozy and comfortable and we slept very well. Everything needed for our stay was provided. Snow had been predicted for that night and upon our arrival, Larry had the cabin nice and toasty. Since it was Halloween, we decided to take the "Where Shadows Walk" tour. We did not encounter any ghosts but we did find the snow and it followed us back to the cabin. We awoke the next morning to a white landscape and a beautiful view of the mountains. When we come back to this area, we will definitely check to see if this precious house is available for us.

Charming Stay

  • 4 of 5

This was a great find for us. Although only two of us were staying, so we didn't need to use the upstairs bedroom, the cottage was cosy. A comfortable bed downstairs, a very quiet and peaceful neighborhood, with the owners conveniently in a house right across the road. They were very pleasant and easy to deal with. It was a central place to stay, so that each day we went in different directions. We visited the Cherokee casino (dinner at a lovely Italian restaurant there), took the Rail and Raft trip from Bryson City, rafting eight miles back on the Nantahala River (excellent!), and drove across the Great Smoky Parkway into Tennessee (Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge were an assault to the senses, going from forest directly into garish touristy main streets!), but an experience nonetheless. If you are tall (my boyfriend is 6' 1"), you will find your head is at the ceiling in the shower/bathtub. Not a problem, but something to be careful about. The kitchen was fully stocked, and the washer/dryer useful, even for a short stay. Would definitely return here again if in the area.

Peacful, tranquil spot but just a short ride to Franklin

  • 5 of 5

This sweet cottage looks exactly like the pictures. My sister and I spent 2 nights here. It is one of the cleanest places I have ever stayed. And it is totally stocked with everything you need for an extended stay. We loved sitting in the rockers on the front porch. Since it is fairly close to the road the people that walk by are always quite friendly. We loved sitting out there at night and looking at the stars and the lightning bugs.

Nice comfy cottage

  • 5 of 5

Our stay here was better than perfect. I have two friends that are thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail and I wanted to provide them with a nice night off the trail so that they could get rested up and cleaned up. The cottage had everything I needed to make their day off great - full kitchen for cooking them dinner, washer and dryer, etc. The house was clean and tidy - and just plain cute and adorable - we didnt want to leave. I've yet to find a place as good as this one as my friends have continued their hike north. The owners were great to work with and very hospitable. I would recommend this place to everyone.
