Just can't stay away!
We have enjoyed fantastic family holidays at this property many times over the last few years and were delighted to return for a relaxing October half term break with our three children - now aged 14, 13 & 8.
The property didn't disappoint; in fact it seems to get better with each visit and it's amazing versatility means that it has adapted to our changing needs as our family has grown in size and grown older.
it is hard to beat this location for absolute tranquility and relaxation. Even at the end of October we were able to enjoy the terrace in the sunshine overlooking the gorgeous views. The property is clean and well maintained. The games room proved as popular as ever! We enjoyed lovely meals in the numerous local restaurants, walks on the beach, wanders around the local markets, wine tasting at the retail outlet of a local vineyard, morning bike rides to the local bakery and a fantastic day at La Palmyre Zoo.
All in all another fantastic holiday, leaving us in no doubt that we will be back.
Thank you for your nice review, we pride ourselves in making Fontdouce very family friendly.
Hope you will visit again. Jack and Lesley Acres
Specious French Family Holiday Home
This delightful property is totally secluded, quiet and with great night skys. Lots to do in the area and in fact restaurants are quite close by. We enjoyed really good weather in October and were able to use the outside areas - which are expansive. The owners have put a lot of effort into equipping the home to a high standard - equipment games, toys and bikes ( 17 was my count ) for a large family. Thoroughly recommended.
Perfect holiday location
This was our third visit to Fontdouce & it didn't disappoint! We once again enjoyed the view over the sunflower fields from the terrace & the many activities in the games room.
You can't help but relax with the peace & quiet & space for the children to run around. We had fantastic days on the beach at St.George & discovered kayaking at Les Monards which we all enjoyed.
Thank you very much for your review. it is always nice when visitors enjoy Fontdouce and even nicer when they visit time after time. Hope to see you again one day.
Thank you. Jack and Lesley Acres
Excellent choice for holiday with children
This was our second visit with our family of five grandchildren. It really is a very good choice for children to safely enjoy themselves and have easy access to nearby beaches. It also enables a relaxing time for adults.
The property fully lives up to the description on the website.
Thank you for your kind review. We try hard to make it family friendly which is confirmed by the number of clients who continue to return every year. Hope to see you again soon. Jack and Lesley Acres
Perfect family holiday
We followed Jack's directions to the letter and arrived mid afternoon to Fontdouce. The property was spotless and exactly the size we were looking for to spread out for a couple of weeks. The kitchen had everything we needed and we enjoyed several barbecues during our stay on the outdoor patio too. The games area downstairs was fantastic and the scene of many competitions. We took the meticulously maintained bikes out for a ride to the nearby village of Talmont which was another highlight. If you're looking for a home away from home in a peaceful setting, I highly recommend Fontdeuce!
Thank you for your nice review. Fontdouce is perfect for families of all ages. Whether taking part in a table tennis competition or snoozing on the patio with a glass of wine. We hope you will visit again.
Fontdouce is located in a secluded rural area surrounded by fields, sometimes filled with sunflowers. Arces sur Gironde is the closest hamlet with a restaurant and boulangerie open every day except Wednesday. Five minutes drive from the historic market town of Cozes and 10 minutes drive from the nearest beaches at Meschers. The long sandy beach of St Georges de Didonne is one mile further on. The port of Royan is just 20 minutes drive and has a marina for sailing and beach with watersports. The ferry to the Medoc also runs regularly from Royan.
The zoo at La Palmyre, is 30 minutes drive and provides entertainment for old and young, feeding the animals with popcorn is encouraged, although we have taken our own apple chopped up and the giraffes love it!
The picturesque village of Talmont is two miles away, where you can enjoy browsing in the small artisan shops and wander around the Church overlooking the Gironde estuary. Excellent golf courses are located at Royan, Cognac and Saintes.
Cognac, Pineau and wine tasting are available at many vineyards in this region. Award winning vineyard Domaine Gadrat is a favourite local wine produced in Cozes and is great value for money. Slightly further afield St Emilion wine area takes about 1.5 hours to drive to.
Approximately 40 minutes away, the Aquapark at Jonzac with slides and lots of water fun activities for children. Cozes also has an open air swimming pool. The aquarium at La Rochelle is excellent for rare rainy days.
Supermarkets are located at Cozes and Meschers. A weekly market (Wednesdays and Saturdays) is held in Cozes in the ancient Halles. Daily market at Meschers and a Royan has a large undercover market just closed on Mondays.
There are many superb restaurants within a few minutes drive, ranging from fine dining to snacks, many specialising in the local seafood in particular oysters and mussels which come from just a couple of miles away.
