Reviewer Comments:

OK, but the house is getting old. The HVAC was not adequate. The tempertures on both sides of the house was 80 or higher during the day. There were some sand spurs in the yard.

Owner's Response: I just reviewed your recent guest survey from your stay in 1-52nd and I would like to thank you for taking the time to share your experience and apologize on behalf of Island Realty. I have reviewed all your feedback in detail and have also passed it on to the owner so they too can better understand the need for making changes. It is always Island Realty's goal to provide guests with quality accommodations, which I hate wasn't your situation during your recent stay. I hope that you know that every one of your suggestions or concerns are being looked at closely and shared with the decision maker of 1-52nd in hopes to make this unit more appealing and comfortable for our future guests. Reviewer Comments:

a big rambling old house perfect for our big rambling family.loved watching the ocean from the balcony, spending lots of time on the beach and playing in the big yard.Sad to hear it was sold and might be torn down. Would hate to see something new and shiny go up in its place.

Reviewer Comments:

The house was large enough to have family time but also to have alone time. The decks were wonderful and we enjoyed sitting on the decks. The outside steps were tough for those of us that are older. The views were awesome!!!

Reviewer Comments:

A bit good..a bit bad. For a week, there was up to a foot of water surrounding the house and under the house. At times we had to wear shorts and no shoes to get to some of the cars. There were a few concrete pads that stayed dry, except when it rained. It rained for 2 days and the water got deeper. Also, a couple of nights, the roof leaked onto my wife and I. We moved the bed to the other side of the room but could not totally escape the dripping. There were several leaks in our room. We were unable to use the dishwasher all week until the second maintenance man showed up the day before we left and showed us where the "child proof" button is.Seriously? The first maintenance man did not know that? Somehow, we had triggered this and disabled the dishwasher. The kitchen is small. Stop looking for an iron. There isn't one. Aside from all that, it was nice. It was ocean front, but we could not walk to the beach because between us and the beach was this ditch full of scum that we could not cross or go around. That was a surprise. The view was nice from the porch. When it rained, the porch got wet, which kept us indoors for 2 days. The rooms were nicely decorated. To get to 2 of the rooms, you have to climb quite a few steep stairs. Over all, we all enjoyed our stay. It would have gone smoother if we did not have to deal with these petty nuisances. I am from South Carolina and I am not a complainer. I am writing about these problems because they could easily be fixed...except for the leaks in the bedroom. That needs fixing now. We loved being on the Isle of Palms. That feels like home to us. We are part of a group of 6 couples who stay on the island every year. The beds were comfortable. There was a huge table where we could all sit. There were 2 separate rooms with TV's which worked out well. We visited Morgan Creek Marina for supper and Shem Creek Bar and Grill. There is a Harris Teeter on the island that is excellent.

Reviewer Comments:

This is a duplex that has been combined making odd shaped living areas, undersized kitchen, and two separate staircases to get to the upstairs rooms with no connecting door upstairs. Aside from amazing location, there is nothing nice about this house - you realize it the moment you drive up to the cinderblock perimeter and the concrete slab of a torn down house. Most tile inside appears poorly installed and every bathroom has loose tile. There was black mold/mildew on drywall in one bathroom. There were cobwebs on top of cobwebs in the corners, dead bugs around the walls, and food still in the sink. Upstairs mattresses on the bigger beds collapse under hand pressure and creak horribly. Metal frame on the queen bed upstairs is bent and coming apart. No locks on the upstairs sliding doors. The two window AC units upstairs have to run 24/7 and were black from the mold/mildew in them. The wet bar you see in the pictures is just for show, the ice maker has a printed sign from ages ago telling you it is out of order and chilling cooler doesn’t work. The dryer's enamel is peeling and jagged making it useless for clothes. The refrigerator leaked water daily into the drawers and glass shelf. This house has a roach problem, we killed 4-5 per night, small to 3”. I called management first morning and they acknowledged issues were not able to relocate us. A new cleaning crew did their best to get cobwebs and mold/mildew. Maintenance guy seemed frustrated with the state of the house. Apparently the owner does their own maintenance and hires their own cleaning crews. Appliance guy said there was no way to repair dryer or refrigerator. No one was able clean mildew/mold from window AC units. Next day they brought us 2x4s to secure sliding doors and replaced the two window AC units. We learned to deal with the rest. Pest control never came to address the roach problem. Management indicated a partial refund would be issued. To date, no credit has issued.
